Veterinary Social Work, Nature-Based Therapy & Walk-and-Talk Sessions. People I work with often come to me feeling stuck, second-guessing every decision, replaying conversations in their heads, or feeling disconnected from themselves and the life they want to create. Sometimes it's a big life change. Sometimes it's a quiet, constant heaviness. Sometimes it's the grief of losing someone, human or animal, who meant everything. I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Clinical Supervisor, and NYU-trained Veterinary Social Worker. My work is informed by the One Health framework, which recognizes that human, animal, and environmental wellbeing are interconnected. Healing happens through connection: connection to ourselves, to others, to animals, and to the natural world around us. This perspective influences how I approach anxiety, grief, relationships, compassion fatigue, identity, and healing, while honoring the important role animals and nature can play in our lives. Whether we're exploring the possibility of an Emotional Support Animal (ESA), navigating the loss of a beloved animal companion, or simply acknowledging the significance of these connections, they deserve to be seen, supported, and honored. I work with adults and offer therapy in-office, through telehealth, and outdoors through nature-based therapy and walk-and-talk sessions when clinically appropriate. Research continues to demonstrate the benefits of movement and spending time outdoors, including reduced stress, improved mood, increased attention, and a greater sense of wellbeing. Walking side by side around the lake on TCNJ campus or the Washington Crossing canal path can feel very different from sitting in an office, and sometimes that difference matters. Over the years, I've worked with people navigating grief, identity, anxiety, change, and the spaces in between. Healing comes in many forms: moments of laughter, a meal cooked with love, long walks, dog kisses, being deeply seen and heard. Therapy is part of that, and so is meaning-making in the everyday. As a daughter of an immigrant, I understand how culture, identity, and lived experience shape our stories and influence how we move through the world. You deserve a space where your whole self, your identity, history, joy, and complexity is welcome. People say "you are too sensitive" when you share how you feel. Your family and heritage are important to you but there is tension. It's hard to feel relaxed in your body. At times you feel restless and at other times stiff and numb. Feeling balanced is tough. At times, you feel hopeless. You don't like how you tend to replay conversations in your mind. There are too many negative and anxious thoughts that come. Thank you for your interest in my practice! One main strategy to help you with is called EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. A technique that is based in neuroscience that heals your brain naturally-much like eye movements during REM sleep. Developing a safe space to process your emotions, memories, and implementing strategies that will be effective is essential. I am also trained in other modalities like DBT, CBT, and psychodynamic therapy.

From an early age, we all learn ways to cope with stress, change, and new relationships. Sometimes, familiar coping strategies, which may have served you well in the past, are no longer effective as life inevitably changes. You may feel "stuck" in these moments and at a loss for how to move forward. I work to provide a safe therapy space to explore feelings of sadness, worry, and uncertainty. Together, we can develop new coping strategies and create a plan for positive change that feels meaningful to you. My practice focuses on working with older adolescents, adults, and couples. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy and systems theory. More specifically, I help clients to identify and change negative patterns of thought and behavior and to develop more positive and satisfying relationships with others. I also introduce a variety of relaxation techniques in therapy to offer more effective tools for managing life stress. Through this process, clients often find that they ultimately feel more self confident and better equipped to respond to life challenges and emotional distress in a healthy and effective manner. Therapy is a personal experience that should be tailored to your needs. My goal is for you to be able to apply the insight and skills that you have developed in therapy to your daily life and to experience a greater sense of happiness and overall satisfaction as a result.

Using a collaborative, eclectic approach, I work with graduate students and couples to identify goals and areas for change. Building on your unique strengths and resilience, we will work to integrate and enhance skills needed to better manage anxiety, depression, stress, and relationships and identity issues. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic and other therapy approaches, based on what's needed for each individual. My goal is to help clients explore past interpersonal patterns and relational dynamics in a safe, therapeutic setting in order to create more positive and fulfilling experiences for the future. Additionally, I use psycho-education to deepen an understanding of healthy communication skills, boundary management, emotion regulation, and increased distress tolerance. I have found mindfulness practice (mindfulness meditation and mindful awareness) to be very helpful for clients who struggle to manage stress and anxiety, and I enjoy helping folks learn about mindfulness and ways to integrate the practice into their lives. Also, as a professional artist, I enjoy working with clients who are involved in creative endeavors, whether professionally or for personal fulfillment. I've found that a shared "vocabulary" about creativity can enhance therapeutic communication. In addition, I have a special interest in working with those in the "helping professions" who may be dealing with burn-out, secondary trauma, vicarious traumatization, and/or the stressors of working within demanding systems. As mentioned above, I typically work with graduate students and couples, but if you are an undergrad who feels my approach might be for you, please feel free to reach out.

Finding your way back to yourself – even when the pressure feels relentless. You’re capable, driven, accomplished. Yet something feels off – a persistent feeling of anxiety, a nagging feeling that you don’t belong, or a sense that no matter how much you achieve, relief does not come. You are not stuck, but your nervous system is. That’s why talking alone cannot get to it. I go beyond traditional talk through because anxiety can’t be reached by reframing - all of lives in the body. Using somatic therapy (or body-based) and nervous system strategies, the work is centered on where change actually happens. Having spent over a decade working at Princeton University, I understand the pressures of academic and social life intimately: perfectionism, performance anxiety, and the imposter syndrome that hides behind even the most polished exterior. My approach is non-judgmental, collaborative, creative, practical and tailored entirely to you. I work with: anxiety, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, focus issues, self-esteem, relationship struggles, and trauma.
