Therapists for college students near Mount Pleasant, SC
I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families who are dealing with big emotions, ongoing conflict, grief, or that feeling of being stuck and unheard. Many people come to therapy looking for a safe place to talk things through, practical tools that actually help, and support in creating calmer, more connected relationships at home and in their lives. I specialize in supporting kids and teens with big feelings and family challenges, while also working with adults and couples who want to strengthen communication and relationships while navigating life transitions together. I use creative, evidence-based approaches to build confidence, coping skills, and understanding in ways that feel simple and effective. Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating. My goal is to create a warm, non-judgmental space where people feel heard and supported, and where small, manageable steps can lead to meaningful change. If you’re considering therapy, I’d be honored to support you.

Accepting New Clients - Let’s make a change together! I work with teens, young adults, and adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, parenting, and school/work/relationship struggles, and provide support through difficult situations like divorce, abuse, or the loss of a loved one. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to meet you wherever you are on your healing journey. Working with my clients to set goals and put strategies in place to reach those goals, is a key component of my counseling. My approach to therapy acknowledges that everyone’s journey is different. We'll explore how our mental health affects our body and spirit, so that we can develop strategies to restore a sense of safety in the body and lead to more lasting and comprehensive change. In order to truly heal, we must address our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Many of us feel anxious and tired. With so much that feels out of our control, I encourage clients to return to their bodies and into the present moment. It is our inner worlds that we have the greatest control over and the most power to change. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your specific needs. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Create a more balanced life Self care is necessary for mental and physical wellness. I strive to create a safe space and a judgement free zone so you can be yourself and feel not only heard, but understood. My primary objective as a therapist is always to provide support, comfort, and empathy to my patients. My hope is that an individual never feels shame or embarrassment in seeking some extra help to cope with life’s multitude of stressors. I use CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - techniques to take a close look at your thoughts and emotions and help you gain a better understanding of how these manifest through your behaviors. Having a more clear insight helps assist with the goal of altering those negative thoughts and unlearning the behaviors that are harming you or no longer serving you; while also adopting healthier thought patterns and habits. Reframing your thinking, developing constructive coping skills, and improving the relationships with yourself and others, are some primary examples of goals one might work towards in this therapeutic modality. I believe that healing can be inspired through feelings of connection and understanding; these are crucial to a healthy therapeutic relationship. The process of seeking therapy or finding a therapist that is the right fit can understandably be a daunting task but I wish to make the process less stressful. I enjoy working with individuals but I specialize in working with couples; as it can be a particularly intimidating venture to work with a spouse or significant other on communication, trust, and connection. Couples counseling can be a somewhat vague and intimidating title. Some examples of relationship dynamics I work with include divorced or separated co-parents, pre-marital couples, LQBTQ+ relationships, couples who are unsure of whether or not they can continue in their marriage or relationships, and many others. The relationship does not need to be in crisis or falling apart to seek a bit of extra assistance and support. It is not a sign of failure or distress. It can be used as a form of prevention or simply to strengthen the bond. There is no ‘one size fits all’ therapeutic approach with couples. However, I use the Gottman Method of practice to meet the individuals where they are and improve their understanding of one another; how they communicate their wants and needs and help them to reconnect.

At Simply Nutrition, we are as passionate about client-centered care as we are about food, nutrition, and health. Through the process of honoring the body’s intuitive cues, fear and guilt are minimized, reducing food’s power. We embrace the journey to wellness and encourage clients to do the same. Simply Nutrition is a firm believer in the non-diet approach and coaches clients to break barriers by navigating food and nutrition myths, reconnect with natural hunger and fullness cues, and ultimately embrace intuitive eating while promoting balance, variety, flexibility, as well as personal responsibility for food choices. When appropriate, our nutritionists enjoy working closely with other health professionals in a team approach. Simply Nutrition always strives to meet clients where they are in the change process while providing a nonjudgmental and inviting environment. We do not believe in a "one size fits all" program, and work with each individual client and family to design a tailored program as unique as they are. Our goal is to help create lasting change that will bring balance to your life.

Welcome! Here at Sweetgrass Counseling Services we have clinicians available that specialize in many issues that are common amongst college students, including the age demographics. We understand that anxiety, burnout, homesickness, and lack of community can result in difficulty coping. Sometimes, the struggle to cope turns into using substances, or developing eating disorder/body image issues as a negative coping mechanism. We are trained to help you get back on track so that you can complete treatment feeling better, and more like YOU! We take a holistic approach to treatment, meaning that we won't just address your mental health struggles, but we will assess how those struggles are impacting your physical and spiritual health as well. We work consistently with Registered Dietitians, nutritionists, and fitness coaches as needed for your specific situation. We take care to assess where you turn spiritually (as simple as finding your purpose, to yoga, to Christian counseling depending upon the person and clinician). We believe that mental health and restoration is contingent upon tenderness to all three aspects, and we will help you strengthen all three until you begin to feel better again. We look forward to working with you!!!
I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Sabrina Gilliam, LPCA, AACC member, and I have a heart for walking alongside college women as they navigate this exciting—but sometimes overwhelming—season of life. Adjusting to college isn’t easy, and it’s completely normal to hit a few bumps in the road with things like anxiety, stress, friendships, relationships, or figuring out who you are and where you’re headed. You don’t have to go through this alone. I bring both professional training and years of life experience to help you feel understood, supported, and equipped to move forward. As a Christian counselor, I offer guidance that is biblically grounded and clinically sound, creating a safe space where you can share openly, grow stronger, and find peace and confidence for the road ahead.

Hello. I'm a psychologist who specializes in areas of anxiety and self-harm. This may be just feeling stressed out all the way to not being able to leave your apartment or struggling with significant OCD or panic attacks. While anxiety is one of my specialities, I've worked very closely with college-age populations for over the last ten years regarding various topics and helping support young adults. Sometimes life just gets hard and you need some extra support. Feeling connected and safe with your clinician is one of the top predictors of therapy success and you meeting your goals, so I'd love to chat and see if we're a good fit!

Better. I get it. So don't go it alone, let's talk about it. Let's throw some thoughts and solutions out there and see what sticks. You may feel stuck, but YOU'RE NOT ALONE. Call me and let's get you back on track to the best version of yourself. 'Cuz, at the end of the day, Life is tough. But if you're reading this, so are you. TTYL :)
