I have been a member of the Princeton Exclusive Provider Network, treating University Students (Graduate and Undergrad ) since 2018. and treating patients in the Princeton area for more than 20 years. I have training and experience in many areas, including: Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, OCD, lack of interest, lack of motivation, relationship issues and more. I am a Psychopharmacologist, with expertise in psychiatric meds, as well as a Psychotherapist dealing with personal psychological issues, and use both Medication and/or Psychotherapy to give a customized treatment for each individual patient.

I believe most clients want to enjoy a life which includes meaning, balance, and solid relationships including with themselves. Self-understanding and self-compassion contribute to self-empowerment and a stable sense of well-being whether alone or with others. Feeling that your therapist "gets you" and likes you can make it safe to explore one's inner world and reflect on thoughts, emotions, default patterns and potential new behaviors. I draw on many approaches in counseling and trauma recovery, including a gentle connection with parts of the self which may have become shrill, avoidant, critical, rigid, perfectionistic or self-indulgent or otherwise self-protective due to past experiences, or perhaps genetic transmission. When the "worries" of parts are appreciated and the underlying traumas addressed, new energy, resilience and options become available. I find that sharing information about the brain offers reassurance and a sense of "no wonder". I also find that present-moment awareness of the body in counseling often brings surprising clarity, fresh metaphors, and therapeutic momentum. I am an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and while I pray for clients and pray with the occasional client who requests this, my job is to support each person or couple on their unique path. Evangelism of any kind is never appropriate. My own struggles have deepened my compassion and wisdom but I do not let my experiences create "assumptions" in my work. As appropriate, I introduce strategies and practices for self-management, give homework, and help people stay accountable to their own longings, best intentions, creativity and passion, being curious with them about "action blocks". I work with lots of couples at all stages of relationships. I model curiosity and empathy for the emotions and needs which are not being seen, expressed or responded to-- the hurts, fears, and disappointments embedded in off-putting and protective behaviors. I help partners be safely vulnerable so they connect more deeply, treat each other better, and enjoy each other more.

A beautiful thing about our bodies is that our bodies can talk to us. Our bodies can provide us with data that can be beneficial to our mental and physical state of being. Breaking down and analyzing that data can be key to understanding what we need to help ourselves. We can discuss trauma recovery, relationship intimacy (including monogamy, polyamory, and open relationships), sex positivity, BDSM and kink, peer relationships, family relationships, body image, anxiety, stress, depression, self growth, and life transitions. I also specialize in working with Deaf & Hard of Hearing (D/HH) folks, issues in D/HH identity and culture, and parents and family members of D/HH children. I can provide therapy in American Sign Language (ASL) for both D/HH and hearing folks (CODAs, SODAs, SpODAs, interpreters, learners, etc.) alike. Join me on a transparent, attentive, and open path as we work together to unleash the magic of YOU. It all begins with you. There is no time like now.

Our weight-obsessed culture chastises and shames you, as though your body size is not only a personal moral failing, but a reliable indicator of poor health. Over time, you started internalizing this anti-fat bias, and often treat yourself with the same level of contempt. You either avoid seeking medical care altogether, or expose yourself to the risk of weight stigma (far more harmful than any presumed adverse effect of your weight itself). You forgot how to nourish yourself – sometimes forbidding yourself food, sometimes isolating in shame for a binge, sometimes "paying" via purge. But friend, you are meant to bloom - not shrink. I know this may be difficult to believe right now, but you are already lovely, wise, and worthy of much more in life. I’ll hold that thought for you as you relearn it, and we use it as the foundation of our work. From there, we’ll integrate cognitive behavioral strategies with EMDR to gain insights from the present to heal your old wounds once and for all. You deserve to fully enjoy, nourish, and be at peace with your body. Learn to better understand your thoughts and emotions, and stop wasting energy on what others think. Explore the root causes of the shame you've been taught, and work to move past it – your deepest self longs to be known. Call me now for your free consultation, and let’s get started today!

Finding a therapist can be hard and intimidating; even starting a search can involve marshaling real courage. However, in searching for a therapist, I believe reaching out for help is also an act of hope, an acknowledgment that change is possible. What would therapy be like with me? I take a compassionate, holistic, and empathetic approach to counseling. When the time is right, I integrate humor as a way of finding levity even in life’s hardest moments. My aim is to emphasize solutions and strengths as you navigate what brought you to therapy. I utilize a number of therapeutic intervention to help you meet your goals. Some of these include acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and compassion and mindfulness interventions. I am a Licensed Social Worker, in the process of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my social work degree from Rutgers University School of Social Work. I am certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).

Finally deciding to seek out therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming and even increase uncomfortable feelings. Finding the "right fit" with a therapist may mean having that momentary discomfort of making that first phone call... but you are worth it when it means finally getting the support you deserve. I am open to chatting or emailing to find out if I am the right fit for you or if I can help you find someone who is. Don't be afraid to ask questions. (You can also find me on Facebook at Castle Counseling, LLC and on Instagram @castle_counseling_ to get a little sense of who I am ). My practice is women-centered with a holistic and integrative focus on helping you process traumatic or challenging life experiences. I hold an advanced certification in complex trauma. I use evidence based practices with a focus on compassion-focused, somatic-based interventions. I work to create a safe, connected and nurturing space where you can feel grounded in healing. My work is highly individualized based on your unique needs. I will always treat a you as a person and not a "diagnosis". In working with difficult emotions my goal is always to instill hope and provide education about regulating the nervous system and restoring a sense of safety. Using a combination of both cognitive (talk) and somatic (body) based strategies we will work together to discover your unique pathway to healing. We will strive to cultivate peace and joy in your daily life and to give you real life tools to use outside of the therapy office. I know, first hand, that recovery and healing can feel difficult, but it is not impossible! As a women's centered practice, we will work together to help safely connect body, mind and spirit through an active understanding of how the body stores emotion, holds experiences and is very often the key to healing. My goal is to offer you a truly safe space where genuine personal growth and relief from suffering can occur. Please feel free to call, reach out and ask me any questions...I am open to just talking with you and helping you find the right path on your healing journey.

Getting help can be frightening. When suffering feels unclear or confusing, having someone to shed light on what you are going through makes a world of a difference. I have had a career of helping many people in tough moments while providing a safe, healing and empathic environment. I continue my beliefs and commitment to providing this to people dealing with trauma, depression and anxiety. It’s important to have someone in kinship to your journey. Find a renewed sense of comfort, wholeness and understanding to your experience. A relational space which allows open dialogue and collaboration over your life situation will bring about positive change and insight into needs, decisions or ambivalences. Common approaches can help someone cope on a moment-to-moment basis. Meanwhile, layers of your experiences and whether significant relationships have met your needs still necessitate insight and healing.

Hello! I enjoy working with undergrad and graduate students to help them gain insight, develop understanding, and change behaviors. I conceptualize from a psychodynamic perspective but also utilize cognitive behavioral techniques as needed. Therapy can at times be difficult, but I strive to build a strong therapeutic relationship, throw in a little humor, and always aim to create a safe space where clients can explore emotions and develop their own voice.
