I have always liked the metaphor that therapy is like riding in the car with someone. You are the one behind the wheel, deciding where and how fast we go and I am the one with the map helping you to get there. I believe in forming collaborative relationships with the people I work with. I strive to help you understand yourself better so that you can make meaningful change in your life. My goal is to help you form strategies and ways of thinking that can be translated from the therapy room to every day life - to work, school. relationships, and within yourself. In my practice, I work with a variety of issues including anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, and problems associated with stress, relationships, life transitions, grief, and loss. My approach is compassionate and nonjudgmental and I will work with you to develop emotional and coping skills that will help you achieve your goals. I believe in the importance of finding the right fit in a therapist. In order to help you get to know me better, I offer a free phone consultations. I am happy to speak with you to answer any questions you might have. Please visit my website or contact me for more information!

I help clients to become proactive agents in their own process. I work with young adults to reduce symptoms, promote growth, and instill lasting change. I guide healing from anxiety, trauma, grief, and depression and OCD. I am licensed in AL, AZ, AR, CT, CO, DE, GA, FL, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY. Hi there! I'm Beth Fier, Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Director for SEED Services: Partners for Counseling & Wellness. Our practice offers services that are rooted in evidence based treatment approaches, including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) for perfectionism, shame and self-critical difficulties, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for regulating emotions and impulsivity, and the Gottman Method for relationship counseling to name a few. Currently, most of my own work is with individuals who struggle to manage high levels of self-criticism, shame, and/or the patterns of avoidance or over-striving that are often associated with anxiety, depression, problem perfectionism, and trauma. However, we also employ therapists specializing in couples counseling and in working with grief and loss, whether this may be related to our changing post-Covid environment, relational losses or to other difficult life transitions. I have grown to value and believe that we cannot separate mental health from physical, social, or spiritual health. Consequently, within our practice, we typically work from an integrated perspective. We incorporates attention to our social learning history, body-based health, emotional experiencing as we explore patterns of thought and behavior. Most recently, I have completed certification training as a Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider (CMHIMP) and as a provider for Stephen Porges' Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP). This protocol involves the use of specially filtered music to strengthen the inner ear muscle. This helps us to improve autonomic regulation. This can be particularly useful when there have been experiences of threat or trauma within the context of important relationships. Some of my other experience has included teaching as an adjunct faculty member, supervising clinical interns and new professionals, serving on the executive board of the New Jersey Counseling Association (NJCA), and volunteering as past president for the New Jersey Association for Multicultural Counseling (NJAMC).

Do others see you as someone who has it all together? Inside, are you feeling like you're falling apart? Do feelings of emptiness consume you? For many people suffering with emotional wounds, anxiety, isolation and hopelessness can become a daily part of life. Sometimes managing painful times from the past intrude on their ability to enjoy the present. Sometimes compulsive eating patterns, substance abuse, spending or even relationships seem like the only way to numb the pain. You don't have to face it alone. We can work together to find new solutions for wellness, healing and recovery. Our approach focuses on developing a safe, collaborative relationship where new insights and change is possible. Together we can discover healthy ways to cope with difficult feelings and break the cycles that are preventing you from living the life you want. You CAN find a newfound sense of fulfillment, peace and well-being. Through counseling, psychotherapy and expressive arts therapy we specialize in offering hope to families in Mercer, Bucks, Hunterdon and Somerset counties struggling with the effects of trauma (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety, addiction and LGBT concerns.
