Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. I view the human experience much like a cup of coffee–complex, layered, and ever-changing. Some moments may feel bitter; others leave us feeling nourished and fulfilled. You may be seeking to better understand yourself, build a healthier relationship with the world around you, or heal from patterns that no longer serve you. As your therapist, I’ll meet you wherever you are and walk alongside you as we navigate your lived experiences together. I work with individuals navigating trauma, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, life transitions, disordered eating, and substance use. In our work together, I draw from relational therapy, parts work, and EMDR to support your healing journey. These approaches help us deepen self-understanding, process trauma, and strengthen connection to ourselves and others. My style is both compassionate and direct. I show up first and foremost as a human being, offering a space grounded in trust, openness, and authenticity. Together, we’ll create an inclusive environment where growth and healing can unfold.

I specialize in supporting college aged individuals as they navigate the unique challenges of emerging adulthood. Whether you’re experiencing academic stress, relationship concerns, identity exploration, anxiety, family transitions, or uncertainty about your future, I offer a grounded and supportive space where you can feel understood, empowered, and genuinely seen. I draw from evidence‑based approaches, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you make sense of your internal world, strengthen emotional regulation, and build healthier patterns in your relationships and daily life. My work is especially attuned to navigating family dynamics, forming meaningful connections, managing stress, and clarifying personal values. Together, we make space to navigate experiences that have left you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. After working at a local university for eight years, I'm now my own boss to allow greater flexibility in our work together. No modules to complete before you get to schedule an actual appointment. No session limits each semester--except those set by the insurance company, if applicable. I'm open to addressing whatever is on your mind and am comfortable with a variety of issues and concerns. Most people come in to talk about things that keep them up at night, thoughts and feelings that prevent them from performing to their potential, and experiences that keep them feeling stuck. For more info, check out my profile linked below or send me a message to set up a quick conversation to see if we'd be a good fit.

Sarah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her Master’s degree from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis and dual Bachelor degrees in Social Work and Spanish from the University of Northern Iowa. Sarah works with adults and older teens struggling with depression, anxiety-related disorders, PTSD and other trauma-related disorders, grief, stress, adjustment issues, women’s issues, and relationship issues. Sarah helps those who aren’t feeling like themselves lately to identify root causes as to why, develop strategies to live into identified values and to feel like life is manageable again. She believes that we are each unique individuals, so a one size fits all approach to therapy is not realistic. While each person’s history is a complex and beautiful story, Sarah’s approach remains multi-faceted and focused on what the client needs. Of utmost importance is a safe, nurturing and comfortable therapeutic alliance between the client and practitioner. Sarah uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness strategies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Somatic Experiencing techniques and can provide information on how the mind and body interact. Believing that the client is the expert of their own life, Sarah focuses on a strengths based and person centered approach to therapy. She believes in coming alongside a client to help reveal an already existing capacity for personal healing & growth as clients identify what goals & visions they have for their life. Sarah’s experience includes providing outpatient therapy, co-facilitating parenting groups, academic advising at the Brown School with graduate students, client and business relationship management for a small company, program director at Girls in the Know – a program that works to foster communication between pre-teen girls and their trusted adults, along with being an Empowering Your Pre-Teen Girl speaker for Girls in the Know. Sarah also worked extensively in the child welfare arena serving as an in-home counselor and senior care manager, working with foster children. As a social worker, Sarah has served on many committees that focus on racial justice & anti-racism work specifically and she is also passionate about social justice. Sarah offers parent/child sessions with older teens or adult children to work on specific issues they are having. These are usually brief interventions to set specific goals and get a good plan in place to improve the relationship and move forward.

I have specialized training in traumatic stress and addiction and use an attachment focused perspective taking special care to understand present difficulties in the context of early relational experiences. As a therapist I believe that symptoms resulting from stressful life experiences can be treated using validated scientific interventions. Addiction can often accompany traumatic stress. In an effort to cope, individuals frequently find themselves trapped by the comforting yet costly effects of addictive or compulsive behaviors. I am a certified EMDR therapist. EMDR taps into the brain’s natural ability to heal by unburdening and integrating emotionally disturbing memories. IFS/ego state and somatic approaches supplement my practice to overcome shame, confront fear, and cultivate compassion. Additionally, I offer PLPC clinical supervision, EMDR consultation, and CRADC supervision. In today's fast paced pandemic world anyone can become overwhelmed by the toxic nature of stress and social isolation. The courageous decision to seek healing and therapeutic connection can be the first step in a new direction. I would welcome you to contact me for a free initial phone consultation.

Are you tired of feeling "not like yourself?" Life is not always easy. We come across challenges in our daily lives that are hard to cope with, causing us to feel stuck, confused, overwhelmed, or on edge. Transitions, such as going to college, starting a new career, or becoming a parent, can be welcome changes but can also be hard to manage. My background in both Social Work and Child Development gives me a unique, holistic perspective that informs my practice. I particularly enjoy using my knowledge and skill set to help both young adults and parents in many stages of their journey work through the challenges that come with their phases of life. Reaching out for help is hard! I hope to make the process feel easy and less intimidating. If you are struggling with life's challenges, send me a message and we can talk more!

My ideal clients are adults and couples who are struggling with anxiety, stress, intimacy, sexual health concerns, relationship and or marital conflict. As your therapist I will meet you where you are by providing an empathic and non-judgemental environment. As a first generation Latina, seeking support for mental health was considered taboo – It was the typical “fear-based, avoid your feelings, Te voy a dar una razón para que llores” Hispanic home, so I get it! As your therapist, I am committed to providing culturally sensitive and individualized services to help you move towards a more fulfilling life. I am a bilingual therapist, providing therapy in English and Spanish. I welcome all identities, especially those with marginalized identities, including Latinx, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+.

Life can feel exciting and overwhelming at the same time. You might notice yourself: • Feeling anxious or stressed • Questioning who you are or what you want • Feeling disconnected from friends or yourself • Struggling to manage expectations or relationships Therapy is a space to slow down and make sense of what’s happening. You don’t have to figure everything out at once, and you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. In therapy with me, we will: • Explore what’s happening beneath the surface, not just symptoms • Understand patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and relationships • Build insight into your past experiences and how they shape your present • Support you in connecting with a stronger sense of self I’m the kind of therapist who notices the little things you might not say out loud: patterns, tensions, and moments that feel stuck. I care about what they reveal about your life and relationships, and I try to bring curiosity and honesty to our work together, not just technique. I often work with young adults navigating: • Anxiety and stress • Self-doubt or loss of confidence • Identity and life transitions • Relationship challenges Text or email me to connect.
