When individuals experience trauma, life stressors or transitions, it is not uncommon for their lives to feel as if it is falling apart. I would like to help bring healing to individuals that have been through these experiences. I help my clients, who include children, adults and families to find healthy perceptions of themselves to strengthen their relationships so they can learn strategies that are TaylorMade for their treatment. I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual and so I have been trained in a range of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My specialties include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Family Issues, School Issues and Post traumatic Stress Disorder. My educational background includes a MA in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#6710) in the State of Louisiana. I am the owner/operator of TaylorMade Therapy, LLC in Harvey, Louisiana.

My Experience Over the last 30 years, I have lived and worked in Chicago, Seattle and New Orleans. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University (1990), a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law (1995), and a Masters in Social Work from Tulane University (2011). I have been a Social Worker since 2011 and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2015. As an attorney, I supported adolescents in juvenile court who were faced with multiple psychosocial struggles and connected them to community support systems both in Seattle and in New Orleans. As a social worker, my training included working with adolescents at River Oaks Hospital’s Intensive Outpatient Program, Tulane University’s Center for Counseling, and Trinity Counseling and Training Center. For the last 8 years, I helped launch and grow Butterfly Effects in Louisiana, working with families with special needs children to provide them with needed applied behavior therapy. I am certified in Adolescent Anxiety Treatment. My Approach I believe in a collaborative approach where I can meet you where you are and work to build a trusting, compassionate relationship. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you can explore and examine how to live your best life. To that end, my therapeutic approach is informed by strength-based, client-centered, positive psychology, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. What this means is that we’ll work together to identify tools that you can use to address your life’s stressors. Ultimately, this will help provide you with both practical short term solutions as well as long term personal growth. The therapeutic process can be difficult but I believe it is the best route to a happier, more fulfilling life. Often the hardest part is beginning! Feel free to contact me and let’s get started.

Hello! Whether you're healing from trauma, want support in life transitions, are struggling with your mental health, or ready to change your patterns, having a space that is confidential and non-judgmental to explore can be a game changer. I strive to hold space where you can feel safe and welcome to show up as your full, complex self. College is a unique time in your life that gives you the space to reflect on your upbringing and work on new skills. It offers new challenges, but also a freedom to have more control over your relationships and boundaries going forward, which makes it a perfect time for counseling! My specialty is working with trauma survivors--people who have experienced dating violence, sexual assault and/or sexual abuse as children. I am really familiar with local resources, including Title IX and campus processes, which I am happy help you navigate. I work extensively with young adults, college students, people of color and LGBTQ+ folks and practice from an anti-oppression framework. I know how much courage it takes to reach out, and even consider opening up to a new person, but I believe it is worth it. If I seem like a good fit, I really hope to hear from you!

"You're like a listening Yoda," a patient said to me. I have 30+ years of experience making people of all ages and backgrounds and orientations feel comfortable. My patients, colleagues, supervisors and clients have come from nearly every country, represent every socio-economic class, and every aspect of the rainbow in terms of gender identity and sexuality, and have ranged in age from 5 years old to almost 80 years old! Do You Struggle With The 3 P’s? * Pressure * Procrastination * Perfectionism Are you trapped in negative thought-spirals? Improving your well-being starts with how you speak to yourself, and shifting your thinking toward supportive thoughts. Therapy is a process of breaking those patterns. It's also a exploratory process of exploration. It can be short-term or long-term. Often times the initial presenting problem is connected to underlying and enduring deeper themes. We can also be playful and tap into creativity in session. Patients who enjoy music, pop culture, and other creative modalities tell me they appreciate their use as a tool in treatment. People also like learning about the mind in general and theirs in particular. **None of us changes hearing something just once or saying something just once. It takes some repetition to identify, understand, acknowledge, and release.** In-person sessions available in Uptown/Carrollton New Orleans. Remote sessions available for Louisiana and New York Residents,

Trauma-Focused Social Work Practice Trauma can have profound and lasting effects on individuals, often manifesting as emotional dysregulation, anxiety, and difficulty forming healthy relationships. In social work, addressing trauma requires approaches that go beyond talk therapy to engage both mind and body. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to help clients reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity and enabling adaptive coping. Somatic Experiencing Therapy (SET) complements this by focusing on the physiological impact of trauma, guiding clients to notice and release tension held in the body. This dual approach helps clients process traumatic experiences cognitively and physically, supporting holistic healing and greater resilience.
