I enjoy working with college and university students who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or unmotivated and are ready for a change. Navigating college life is about more than just academics; it’s a major life transition filled with new independence, evolving relationships, and questions about who you want to be. Whether you're struggling to maintain balance, dealing with burnout, or just trying to find your footing, I'm ready to partner with you as you explore and grow. I provide a supportive, confidential space where you can feel heard, understood, and encouraged without judgment. Together, we'll focus on building healthier coping skills, managing stress, and creating a blueprint to help you move forward with more confidence and clarity. My approach is collaborative and person-centered, meaning you set the agenda and guide the process at a pace that works for you. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to help you clarify your goals, reflect on what truly matters to you, and highlight your strengths. We'll create a clear, manageable path forward and establish realistic strategies to help you stay accountable to yourself, even when things feel chaotic. In our work together, you will have a dedicated space to express yourself freely. My hope is that you leave each session feeling genuinely supported, validated, and equipped to make the changes you want to see in your life and your academic journey.

I believe that our greatest struggles can prove to be our most important teachers, and invitations to connect to our higher selves. Changing our long standing patterns and holding space of our deepest pain can feel daunting and scary to confront on our own. Yet, with support and guidance, you will find change is possible, and there is hope. As your therapist I will support you in creating new ways of coping with emotional pain that are more life-affirming and lasting. We will work toward creating more accurate beliefs about yourself and healing the root traumas that are keeping you stuck- fostering a renewed and loving relationship with self and access to your sources of resilience. Reaching out for help is an affirmation of our connection to one another, and I am so happy that you have made this first step. Growth and healing are potentially just one email or phone call away and I am looking forward to speaking with you soon. It would be my privilege to accompany, and guide you on your journey.

I have worked at a number of different nonprofits around New Orleans in the past five years including Crescentcare, Family Services of GNO and Silence Is Violence, my work at these nonprofits has influenced my approach to counseling and my client-therapist relationships. Working from a trauma-informed lens, I work to facilitate a collaborative and empowering approach to counseling. My theoretical approach stems from a radical social justice paradigm with the incorporation of liberation-based healing practices, expressive arts therapy, feminist, and relational-cultural theory. I work with both adults (18+ yrs old) and couples. I work from an anti-racist, anti-colonial, sex-positive, pro-disability justice, kink positive, fat positive, LGBTQ friendly, polyam-friendly, and strengths-based perspective. I hope to offer a space where in our work together, you will be supported in shared decision-making, choice, agency, and empowerment to determine your own unique path of healing. Throughout the counseling process, I welcome feedback, disagreement, and authentic and honest communication. As a counselor and service provider, my role is to serve you. My counseling style is highly relational and I will be warm, authentic, transparent, and human in our work together. I offer a number of sessions at a sliding fee.

I have been working as a therapist for 25 years and believe the better we know ourselves the better decisions we are able to make. Informed decisions are directly related to overall life satisfaction. Psychotherapy is a tool that provides insight, support and a non-judgmental environment which allows you to become conscious of who you are, why you are struggling and how to heal in order to find what it is you truly want in your life. Therapy is a collaborative process and a relationship where trust is critical. Finding the "right therapist" is also a must. I provide free consultations to ensure a good fit for every client. I have expertise in the many stresses and challenges facing college students today such as academic, financial, social and substance use issues. My primary goal is to connect with a client so that together, we can work towards goals that are important to the client. I am extremely familiar with Tulane University both in regards to their counseling program and other administrative/operational needs such as academic advising, career counseling, peer support, and many other needs students may have at Tulane.

My primary focus is working with school/college age students and young/ middle aged professionals who struggle with trying to find balance, meaning and direction in their lives. I provide clients with an understanding of how to create a genuine sense of self and connection to others. My therapeutic style is relationship-based which consists of joining with clients to identify and satisfy core issues and needs, resulting in natural movement toward self-fulfillment. Im licensed in California, Colorado, Washington DC, Washington State, Maryland and Florida which offers greater flexibility in treatment options. I invite potential clients to give me a call to explore possible treatment options and recommendations either with myself or to other mental health professionals. Navigating the mental health world can be scary and challenging. I am here to help take some of the guess work out of the process.

Dr. Klenck holds specialized training in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, exposure therapy, and mindfulness-based practices for the treatment of anxiety disorders (including trauma and stressor-related disorders, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia, generalized anxiety, and other phobias), depressive bipolar and related disorders and a wide range of other difficulties. Dr. Klenck focuses on evidence-based treatment and evidence-based assessment practices, but finds the most important factor in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. Without a strong alliance with the client, she finds a therapist is limited in their ability to help the individual effect change.

I have 25 years experience in private practice. I have also been a counselor educator for 19 years teaching at the graduate level and providing practicum and internship supervision for students entering the counseling field. I believe the counseling process is all about change, that is, changing current behaviors, thinking patterns, or feelings. Counseling will allow you opportunities to explore areas of concern, while challenging you to think and/or behave in new ways pertaining to the issues in your life. I believe this can be achieved through a balance of guidance, encouragement, support, and feedback. My approach to therapy is an integrated approach of cognitive behavioral therapy and a client centered focus with an emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship through empathy, genuineness, caring, and compassion. My primary goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, judgement free space for all clients.

Welcome! I believe in a collaborative counseling relationship; you’ve known yourself all your life, and I’m just getting the opportunity to meet you. Therefore, the first part of therapy involves learning how you approach and view the world. Then, together, we’ll identify how therapy can meet your needs and assess progress along the way. Prior to starting in private practice, I worked in university settings for 14 years, and I have a passion for working with undergraduate and graduate students. I support adults in life transitions navigating higher education, career exploration, relationships, neurodiversity, anxiety, depression, and grief/loss.

As a psychologist, I strive to help my patients achieve greater agency, self-awareness, and purpose within their lives. I believe believe that improved psychological well-being has the potential to not only address areas of distress, such as depression, anxiety, anger, stress, self-esteem issues, and trauma (including PTSD), but to open up new opportunities within relationships and professional pursuits. To do so, I integrate expertise in psychotherapy with respect for each individual’s life experience and perspective. Through exploration, insight, and collaboration, we will work together to address concerns as well as to develop and achieve goals.

Using an integration of approaches, including psychodynamic and interpersonal therapy among others, I help patients improve their physical and psychological health and well-being while working with them to understand and work through underlying sources of pain, distress, and emotions that interfere with change. Patients are encouraged to introspect, to seek greater awareness and understanding of the unconscious roots of their struggles, and to develop new responses to challenges. Achieving greater knowledge of the self often frees us up to choose differently. People frequently feel stuck or caught in repetitious relationship patterns. Or they know they need to change but can’t seem to make the changes they believe they should make. Psychotherapy helps to uncover hidden issues, often stemming from foundational past experiences. As people Improve their self-understanding, they’re better able to change. Often the work of therapy centers on internal barriers and resistances to change that are removed when understood. Together, we work to overcome barriers to change by exploring and heightening awareness of unconscious causes of a patient’s difficulties.
