Establishing a strong working relationship is essential to positive therapeutic outcomes. I firmly believe that therapy works best when you match well on a personal level. Adjusting to college is hard. There's a lot of pressure to do well academically, socially, personally...and it can be helpful to have an unbiased person to vent to and talk about what you're struggling with. I specialize in treating individuals struggling with primary and secondary trauma. I use a multifaceted approach to therapy to meet my clients where they are and to suit their individual needs, whether trauma is a main focus or not.

I've had the privilege of walking alongside clients in their healing journeys and have found that, for many whose trust (in others and in themselves) has been shaken, finally feeling heard and understood serves as a powerful corrective experience. I believe that these experiences are crucial in facilitating personal growth and change. I recognize that all clients have unique strengths, and I build upon these to create a working alliance that is non-judgmental, empowerment-based, and client-focused. Many feel alienated not only in their struggles but in their pursuit of wellbeing, especially when they have not received a great deal of support in making the changes they desire. I am honored to provide such support and join clients on their paths toward healing. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults in the treatment of trauma, complex PTSD, attachment, anxiety, and depression. I am trained in and often utilize trauma-focused interventions including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Forward-Facing Trauma Therapy (FFTT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I also frequently employ solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, and emotional regulation strategies in my practice, depending on each client’s unique needs.

Hello! I am a mental health therapist (LLC). I offer both in person and virtual mental health therapy appointments. I have a wide range of experiences and am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe that counseling is a collaborative process where clients are able to explore within a safe, affirmative, and compassionate space. By centering on the client’s voice and experience, healing is supported with self-empowerment and compassion. I also recognize that there are connections between the mind and body which can allow for alternative methods of healing to be explored so the best fit can be found for each individual. My current clinical interests include concerns related to sex, sexuality, and gender identity as well as life phase adjustments and relational issues. While interested in learning many psychological techniques, I maintain a framework focused on existential theory and strengths-based practices.

I have been a Clinical Psychologist for over 23 years and have both the educational and work experience to treat children, adolescents, adults, and families. I often build trust and rapport quickly, while instilling hope and optimism. Therapy is performed both in person and tele therapeutically, helping to ameliorate symptoms and improve overall functioning in those that I serve. Clients will tell you that I am nonjudgmental, open minded, approachable, live by Christian values and I am respectful of all people. I continue to work hard to be an ally, learning from others as they learn from me. Leaning on my extensive experience helping parents and being a parent myself, I apply structural family therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy as we work on their parental effectiveness, active listening, behavioral management, co-parenting, and affective expression. I really enjoy and have found success in performing couples counseling and often have evening hours that make it easier for both partners to get into therapy consistently. For years, clients have felt relaxed and heard in the sessions, making continuing therapy seamless for many. Regarding diagnoses, I have helped ameliorate symptoms for clients with ADHD, Anxiety, Bipolar, Depression, GAD, PTSD, OCD, ODD, and adjustment disorders, etc.. I have some experience with substance abuse diagnoses, but only secondary as this is not my expertise. Currently, I am accepting the following insurances: Aetna, BCBS, Blue Cross Complete, BCN, McLaren, Mclaren Medicaid, Medicare, Michigan Medicaid, Molina, Multiplan, Optum, and PHP (Out-Of-Network coverage). Finally, being located near East Lansing, I am in a prime location for college students and have helped many with a broad range of issues and have had many clients state that they have had therapists in the past, but have felt more connected to, listened to, and made more progress herein.

Feeling truly heard and understood can be a powerful part of the healing process.
