Life is nuanced. It is filled with choices, priorities, curve balls, imperfection, and grace. It is a commemoration of beginnings and endings. I specialize in working with individuals going through significant transition. This could be career change, terminating a relationship, processing through grief or simply wanting to change a habit. I am here to support, empower, and advocate for you as you go through change and find secure footing in uncertain times. My approach to therapy is purposely eclectic and person-centered, and sometimes incorporates creative/artistic recovery into treatment. It is my experience that positive change is best achieved through a collaborative approach to treatment. It is my intention through our therapeutic relationship that you understand the inherent wisdom you possess and that you recognize your personal strengths which allows you to live an authentic and purposeful life. Most of my work has been in agencies and academia. I have worked with individuals in substance abuse recovery, individuals processing through traumas, individuals trying to manage overwhelming emotions and seeking coping skills, individuals who are wanting a healthier relationship with their body, and individuals who are going through transitions or career exploration.

I am currently accepting clients on a short-term basis for crisis counseling. Sliding scale and pro bono services available. My availability is flexible and I offer in person (East Lansing) and Telehealth. I work to help people navigate their complex worlds in order to live a healthier, happier life. I believe that all components of one's life are interrelated. Stress, crisis, life changes and uncertainty happen to everyone, often without warning. When crisis or chaos strike, it is comforting to have someone listen in a safe, open, non-judgmental space in which you can uncover the inner strengths and skills you already possess. I work with clients to create this environment, through which genuine healing, change, and self-empowerment can occur.

I am a mature, older woman with a great deal of professional and life experience that I apply in my practice. I am an empathic, respectful, and careful listener. I work with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, life transitions, attachment, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, women’s issues, LGBTQ+ challenges, and relationships. I also have a special interest in neurodivergence, including both high achievers and individuals with ADHD. Because of my proximity to MSU, I have the pleasure of working with many college students, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I work eclectically, carefully tailoring my practice to each of my clients, utilizing approaches to therapy that are trauma-informed, integrative, and experiential. I am trained in many different modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I would be honored to accompany you on your journey to wellness, working together to resolve the issues that bring you to therapy.
I am a multicultural therapist, and bring that perspective to therapy.

For many folks, transitioning to college life feels difficult enough. But for those who are holding themselves together after trauma, struggling with chronic illness and mental health, or those who are first-generation students, the hurdles to being successful can feel insurmountable. As a therapist, I specialize in working with clients who identify as BIPOC, neurodiverse, or who are navigating chronic health conditions. My goal is to help clients recover from PTSD, set and maintain healthy boundaries, and navigate relationships in ways that set them free from people-pleasing. I have worked extensively with survivors of sexual assault and other forms of abuse. I work for Spring Forest Counseling, a group therapy practice located in Okemos, where I see clients in-person and virtually. I am trained in EMDR for PTSD, and also utilize IFS/parts work, mindfulness, and exposure therapy when relevant. My approach is direct, empowerment-based, and educational.

I am a licensed Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist in Michigan. I like working with all kinds of clients. I am particularly interested in working with clients with problems with communication, changing relationships, and behavior issues. I have a 30+ year history as a therapist, supervisor, and teacher. During those years, I worked in settings serving a wide variety of clients. In private practice, I served children, couples, and individual adults. In the community, I developed staff and funding for programs for high-risk children and adults with delinquent and substance abuse offenses. As Clinic Director, I oversaw the agency's operations and funding, trained and supervised staff and therapists, and saw clients. My approach to therapy changes with the client's needs and therapy setting. My preference is to focus on solving problems. That is, asking what needs to be different in the client's experiences. A client-focused approach strongly influences me. I listen carefully to understand what is going on in clients' lives. I try not to push for my solutions but accept that the clients have come seeking insight for solutions. I can be most helpful in helping them find solutions that work for them.

Suffering can be a lonely thing, but healing does not have to be done alone. My goal in therapy is to create a safe and trusting environment that nurtures the courage needed to heal and explore what matters most to YOU. My style of therapy is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I aim to tailor our sessions to best meet your unique needs and build on your strengths. I believe that therapy should be empowering and even fun, something that you can look forward to! I am excited and honored to be doing this work with you. Before joining Therapy Today, I volunteered at a refugee center, worked at an elementary school, and traveled to Panama to be an English-Spanish interpreter. I obtained my Master’s of Social Work degree at the University of Nevada, Reno where I interned for an opioid rehabilitation center and an anti-violence organization. As an immigrant to the States and first-generation college graduate, I bring into all of my work a deep appreciation for different cultures and the strength that people show in the face of hardship. I have witnessed over and over again our ability as humans to overcome and lead happy lives, and I remain passionate about helping others in their journey to reach their fullest potential.
As a dedicated grief therapist, my primary focus lies in offering support and guidance to individuals grappling with the profound impact of chronic illness, depression, anxiety, trauma, and loss. My practice is open to individuals across all age groups, acknowledging that grief and its accompanying challenges do not discriminate by age. My core objective is to assist my clients in navigating the significant changes and upheavals in their lives brought on by their unique circumstances. I firmly believe in the power of a strengths-based perspective to foster resilience and healing. Central to my practice is the development and reinforcement of healthy coping mechanisms, which are crucial for managing the intense emotions and challenges that accompany grief and loss. I am committed to helping clients identify and correct cognitive distortions that may hinder their healing process. My therapeutic approach is tailored to each individual, recognizing that the path to healing is as unique as the person walking it. I hold a deep-seated belief that no one should have to navigate the terrain of grief alone. In my role as a therapist, I am committed to being that supportive presence for my clients, offering a non- judgmental space to heal.
