According to the American Psychological Association, mental health therapy can help a person going through a challenging life event or situation, treat mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, and address symptoms like sadness, guilt, or anger. The process is also helpful when dealing with relationships with family, friends, and coworkers. I work with adults and adolescents, as well as couples and groups. I have found a niche working with first responders experiencing moral injury, generational trauma and estrangement, adoption, abortion, and miscarriage issues, chronic pain, DNA testing matters, grief, loss, and suicide prevention, intimacy issues, legal/offender issues, overcoming church hurt or past abuse, parental alienation, sexual assault/rape, and low self-esteem and self-confidence. I would be honored to work with you as you begin to live your best life. Counseling can help you as you confront long-standing life issues, or specific concerns that need to be addressed. Hey there! Happy to see you in my little corner of ThrivingCampus. I currently have over 8 years experience working with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship based complications/attachment wounds, stress management, addiction/substance abuse, self esteem complications, trauma focused care for PTSD, ADHD, and much more. I'm a big proponent of meeting you where you're at on your healing journey, as well as empowering you to create a healthier version of yourself. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and generally enjoyable environment for you to flourish within. We're two people with the same goal: helping you. A little more about myself: I really enjoy music, playing video games with my wife, attending renaissance faires, playing D&D (when schedules allow for it), and am a proud cat dad. Looking forward to working with you!
People come to me when they are looking for ways out of being trapped, depressed, anxious or stuck. I work with individuals who don't know how to be their true selves - it is my mission them find ways to live an authentic and empowered life. I am able to hold a lot of complexity and nuance for a variety of human needs and experiences. Especially close to my heart is working with the LGBTQ+ population, or anyone who feels they don't fit into what society, parents, friends, or others expect of them. I also enjoy existential deep dives and those who feel overwhelmed by their emotional landscape. You are the expert on yourself - my role is to help you uncover who that self truly is, and help you to respond to that self with courage, connection and authenticity.
I was drawn to becoming a therapist because of my own struggles and remain passionate about the work because of the growth I have the honor of co-creating and witnessing in others as a wounded healer. I work with clients navigating trauma, BPD, anxiety/phobias, OCD, and LGBTQ issues. My approach is compassionate and empowering, giving you the skills you need to create safety in your body, treat yourself with compassion, heal the roots of your pain, and move towards a vital, fulfilling life, taking committed action toward whatever is most important to you. I am trained in ACT, ERP, trauma therapy, and yoga therapy. I also have a decade of experience in DBT. In the intake process, I will ask questions about your history, challenges, strengths, and goals. I will also complete a few assessments based on your presenting issues to get a baseline for your symptoms, so that we can regularly track your progress. I understand the courage it takes to ask for help when life gets hard. My commitment is to provide a safe, accepting space for you to show up authentically & to help you actively apply what you gain from sessions into the rest of your life. I can't promise this will be easy, but it will be so worth it.
I believe growth is deeply personal—and that positive expectations, paired with support and willingness, are powerful tools for transformation. If you're looking for a safe, judgment-free space, you’re in the right place. I'm here to support, motivate, and provide compassionate guidance as you engage in the process of self-discovery.
The guys who are the best fit for my practice are college students who look like they have it all together on campus, but are secretly exhausted by unwanted sexual behavior, porn compulsion, or trying to break a cycle they can't kick on their own. You might be grinding through classes, ministry, or student leadership while carrying a massive load of shame and isolation behind closed doors. You're tired of white-knuckling it, turning to secret habits when stress hits, and feeling stuck in the same frustrating loops. If you are ready for a real, judgment-free space to drop the mask, figure out what's driving the behavior, and get your life back, you're in the right place.
If you’ve been feeling like you’ve kind of lost yourself lately, you’re not alone—and you’re exactly who I love working with. A lot of the people I see are juggling school, expectations, relationships, and big life decisions, while quietly feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of who they really are. You might overthink everything, struggle to say no, or feel pressure to have it all figured out—even when you don’t. In our work together, you won’t get a stiff or overly clinical experience. I show up as a real person—warm, down-to-earth, and sometimes bringing in humor when it helps take the edge off. I’ll help you slow things down, make sense of what you’re feeling, and start trusting yourself more so you can feel grounded, confident, and more like you again.
That feeling when ... you can't describe the feeling. Overwhelmed, or maybe anxious. Frustrated. Alone. Misunderstood. Stuck. Unable to see your way forward. I've been there, and I've spent years developing tools to share with you and help guide you on another path. Whether you need help navigating a new phase in your life, need new tools for facing sudden or unexpected changes, or are looking for fresh perspectives, I can help you find your brave and move forward with intention and joy. I have a Master's degree in Community Counseling and have been a counselor for 13 years. What will counseling with me look like? Expect me to be honest, friendly, and direct, and to be willing to laugh and cry with you. You will be in a safe environment where you can explore your feelings and your relationships without judgment. Some days you may need a good listener and some days you might want some new perspective, and I am here to provide both. However, as we get to know each other, I will challenge you to set and make progress towards your goals. Although I use a variety of theories to guide me in my work, you will most likely learn a lot of cognitive behavioral techniques working with me. We will move at your pace, but we will examine what you think, and why you think it, to help you understand your feelings. Understanding your feelings, and how they connect to your thoughts and actions, will be your first step in setting goals towards making the changes you want to see in your life.
Hello! I’m Stephanie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) dedicated to supporting adults as they navigate the complexities of mental health, trauma, and significant life changes. My journey in this field has been defined by a deep-seated belief in the resilience of the human spirit and a commitment to providing a nonjudgmental, empowering space where healing can truly begin. My Background and Expertise Background and Expertise My clinical foundation was built in the fast-paced, high-acuity environment of inpatient psychiatric hospitals across both the rural Amarillo region and the Austin Metroplex. Serving as a therapist, case manager, and court liaison, I have worked with patients facing some of life’s most challenging moments—from acute crisis intervention and short-term substance detox to the long-term management of chronic mood and psychotic disorders. This extensive background means that I am comfortable sitting with you through just about anything. Whether you are dealing with a recent crisis, navigating the heavy fog of grief and loss, or managing a chronic mental health condition that requires careful coordination and advocacy, I bring a wealth of systemic knowledge and clinical skill to our sessions. I understand the "social systems" of Texas and the unique obstacles our residents face, and I use that insight to help you navigate your own path to stability. My Therapeutic Approach I describe my style as eclectic, solution-focused, and deeply client-centered. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all "fix." Instead, I view therapy as a collaborative partnership. We will work together to identify your specific priorities and the barriers standing in your way. My approach is grounded in: Empowerment: I operate from a strengths-based perspective, helping you rediscover your internal resources. Holistic Wellness: I believe in looking at the whole person—your environment, your history, and your goals. Evidence-Based Skills: I integrate tools from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Trauma-Focused CBT to provide you with practical strategies for daily life. What to Expect In our work together, you can expect directness tempered with deep empathy. I am a firm believer in "reality testing" and stabilization, helping you find a "new normal" that preserves your sense of self while improving your social functioning and personal satisfaction. Whether you need a space to process a specific traumatic event, a partner to help you set and reach life goals, or simply a confidential place to vent and debrief after a period of burnout, I am here to support you. Start Your Journey I know that seeking mental health care is a significant investment of your time, emotions, and resources. To ensure we are the right match, I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation. This is a pressure-free time for us to meet, discuss your expectations, and determine if my skill set aligns with your needs. My goal is to empower you to create a plan of action that leads exactly where you want to be. I look forward to meeting you and helping you build the resilience needed to move forward.
