Hi! I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker with 16 years of counseling experience, including 9 years working with college students as a former counselor and assistant director in higher education. I’m passionate about helping students grow, reach their goals, and flourish from the inside out. My hope is to support you in building confidence, resilience, and balance so you can thrive both in and out of the classroom.
I believe that a core piece of psychotherapy is coming to truly see yourself, and allowing others (the therapist, at first) to see you as well. I practice psychodynamic therapy, which means that I am curious about your emotions, your past experiences, the intricacies of your mind and unconscious, and your imagination. Some people need to be listened to in therapy, others need to be told certain things, and often people need a little of both. I try to discern what is needed by each patient as best I can.
I enjoy working with clients to gain insight into the challenges they face and to develop a plan to overcome them. Because everyone comes to therapy with unique issues and values, I use an individualized approach to meet your specific needs, incorporating research-based techniques that draw from mindfulness-based therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and motivational interviewing. Providing compassion, support, and feedback, I create a safe and caring environment that promotes growth, healing, and empowerment. I enjoy helping clients discover their existing strengths, find hope for the future, and overcome difficulties to achieve their goals. I have extensive experience providing gender-specific counseling services to women for issues including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, ADHD, domestic violence, relationships, parenting, anger, grief, and sexual orientation issues. I have also completed specialized training in the treatment of substance use disorders and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders. I believe my role as a therapist is to both support and challenge you in ways that help you grow, heal, and reach your goals. If you are interested in partnering with me to improve your life and relationships, please contact me to discuss appointment options.
Hello! My name is Nikole, and I provide specialized OCD therapy for college students and young adults. I also work with individuals with tics, skin-picking, hair pulling, and other related conditions. I may be a good fit for you if you struggle with intrusive unwanted thoughts, feel like you need follow specific mental or physical rituals to feel "ok," or avoid situations that trigger your fears. OCD often targets areas that feel shameful and can make people wonder if they are going crazy, but it is very treatable with the correct type of therapy. Clients who work with me are motivated to work hard on their therapy homework between sessions because they want to get better as fast as possible and get back to living their lives and pursuing their goals.

I specialize in adult depth-oriented Relational Psychoanalytic psychotherapy and a highly individualized approach to neuropsychological assessment for ADHD and Autism. As relational beings, we are instinctively wired for connection. It is within the context of relationship that we discover our potential for transformative change. I view therapy as a collaborative process of uncovering this potential by cultivating a deep, trusting relationship that becomes the vehicle for self-exploration and change. As a neurodivergent psychologist, I approach my work with a genuine sense of humility to create a space that is inclusive and affirming to all. I also feel that it is imperative to provide therapy that goes beyond merely treating symptoms. This is why I take a depth-oriented approach in order for us to discover the root causes of suffering, work through barriers, and move toward meaningful, long-lasting life changes. Drawing on a strengths-based approach, I customize my sessions to align with the uniqueness of each client. I believe in the importance of honoring the developmental, biological, sociocultural, and interpersonal parts of yourself to assist in the healing process. Using this comprehensive approach to treatment, I recognize that true well-being encompasses the integration of mental, emotional, and physical aspects of health.

I work with folks facing transitions across the lifespan. I have 25 years experience working with tweens and teens, first as a teacher, then as a counselor. I also love working with young adults as well -- especially those exploring their identity and sense of purpose. You have already taken the brave first step to consider counseling. Let’s be honest. Life gets real sometimes. Things happen and we can wind up feeling stuck, lost, or hopeless. To top it all off, we often feel pressured to put on a brave face and weather the storm. It’s for these reasons that I founded Sunshine Counseling. You deserve a space where you can be yourself, where you don’t have to hide, and where you can safely process life. Truth be told, I named my therapy practice after a mug my friend gave me which sarcastically declares, "I am a ray of freaking sunshine!" This cheeky little mug actually encapsulates my world view. It is not all sunshine and rainbows. And that's ok. I tailor my approach to individuals, their needs, and their state of change. I believe that therapy is all about relationships and I want to aid others in having a healthy relationship with themselves that can then translate to having one with the people they choose to hold in their lives. Reaching out for support is a big step. Snaps for making it to this point. When you are ready, let's connect to schedule a free consultation. If I’m not the right fit for you or do not have the particular training or expertise to assist you, I will provide you with alternative referrals.
