With a foundation of respect and compassion, I offer a collaborative therapeutic process that helps you create meaningful change. By integrating empathy, insight and evidence-based strategies, I will support you on your journey toward emotional well-being and personal growth. Throughout my career I have had the privilege of supporting individuals through a wide range of challenges. In addition to my work as a therapist, I am also a clinical social worker in a primary care clinic. This role deepens my understanding of the connection between physical and mental health, helping me take a holistic approach to psychotherapy. I have trained in several different types of evidence based modalities. My therapeutic approach integrates these practices, allowing me to tailor treatment to meet the needs of each individual. Here's a bit about two approaches I use: Walk and Talk therapy combines the benefits of traditional talk therapy with the healing power of movement and nature. It has been found to encourage emotional expression, reduce anxiety, ease symptoms of depression and improve overall mood. The Flash technique is a recently developed evidenced-based therapeutic intervention for reducing the disturbance associated with traumatic or other distressing memories. It's a gentle way of healing that doesn't require you to describe traumatic details. Instead, you maintain focus on something positive and engaging. Ultimately, the goal is comprehensive healing using whatever combination of methods works best for you.
Welcome! My name is Nikki (she/her) and I am a postdoctoral psychology resident who provides individual therapy and psychological testing for adults in Washington state. If you find yourself overwhelmed, overstimulated, and struggling to meet the demands of the rigid systems you navigate every day, I get it and am here to help you find more sustainable ways of managing. If you have had experiences that no one else seems to understand and/or are struggling with the impacts of trauma and loss, I'm here to support you in processing and healing those wounds. I combine coping skills and insight-oriented therapy to help you connect better with yourself and others, heal wounds you may not have realized were impacting you, and to live more freely (you get to decide what that looks like!). I also provide comprehensive psychological testing for concerns related to attention, executive functioning, memory, personality, cognitive and intellectual functioning, and for diagnostic clarification purposes. Testing can provide insights into personal strengths and areas that aren't as strong, differential diagnosis (e.g., why do I have difficulty paying attention?), work or academic accommodations if applicable, recommendations, and more. To learn more, get questions answered, and explore our fit, reach out to schedule a free 15-30 minute consultation. The consultation is nonbinding and meant to be a low-stress opportunity to see if we vibe! It's also the first step in beginning therapy or psychological testing services with me. You can learn more through my practice's website.

I work best with adult clients who identify as queer and/or neurodivergent, especially those who don't feel like they fit neatly into these communities (not feeling "queer enough", late diagnosed ADHDers, etc). I bring authenticity and a down to earth approach, one in which we are working hard on your goals, while also taking time to be human together. My goal is to create a safe place for clients to show up as they are, to explore and challenge themselves, to reconnect with nature, and express and process whatever comes up along the way. We'll focus on the strengths you bring and work together to set the pace of therapy. I provide telehealth sessions for clients anywhere in WA State and outdoor sessions in Shoreline, WA.

I enjoy working with college students and young adults. In addition to providing support related to the stresses of the college experience, I provide support with the coming of age process and what I call "adulting." I welcome all backgrounds, lifestyles, and identities. Every therapy experience is different, because each person is uniquely different. Your experience will be shaped by who you are as an individual and what issues you would like to work on together. In our first session(s), we will identify challenges, struggles, or life stressors you would like to work on and create therapeutic goals. My style is conversational and experiential, a blend of creative, organic, and intuitive. I listen deeply and mirror back through empathic reflection so you are able to connect to your feelings, needs, truths, longings, desires, inspiration, and power. I am located in Wallingford in NW Seattle. I am currently accepting new clients.

**Some Insurance Accepted in NC through Headway** I practice via telehealth in NY, NC, WA, and TX. I specialize in working with adult men and women who are secretly miserable. You may look fine on the outside, but inside you're struggling to get your own needs met, codependency, perfectionism, and shame. Gestalt Therapy goes beyond looking at just the cognitive, linear perspectives of the person. It demands of the therapist an awareness of the body and how it manifests in the psyche. Through its focus on process rather than content, the patient gains an experiential awareness of how they do what they do and new choices emerge spontaneously. The radical focus on process in the creative therapy of Gestalt keeps the work alive and full of possibility for both the patient and my work as a therapist. Melissa Bennett-Heinz obtained her master’s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University (Class of 2002) and is a graduate of Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy in New York City, NY. In addition to her background in Gestalt Therapy, she obtained her bachelor's and master’s degrees from the esteemed conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, in New York City where she majored in Oboe Performance. Melissa completed cognitive behavioral studies under the tutelage of Dr. William Sanderson. She is a licensed clinical social worker in NY, WA, NC, and TX and has over twenty years of specialized training and experience in PTSD, childhood abuse, mood and anxiety disorders. Melissa brings her background as a classical musician and deep spirituality together in her unique approach in Gestalt's creative and experiential therapy.
Are your thoughts always five steps ahead of you? Do you rehearse conversations in your head, replay awkward moments from three years ago, or struggle to relax even when nothing’s “technically wrong”? Do you find yourself bracing for the worst, overthinking every little thing, or feeling like your brain just won’t stop? If any of that sounds familiar—you might be my kind of person. I work best with thoughtful, sensitive, deep-feeling humans who are really good at anticipating what could go wrong… but are ready to start learning how to trust what could go right. My ideal client might describe themselves as a “chronic overthinker,” “emotionally exhausted,” or “fine on the outside but freaking out inside.” They’re often high-functioning, self-aware, and maybe even a little perfectionistic—but behind the scenes, their anxiety is running the show. Whether your anxiety shows up as social worry, constant rumination, panic, people-pleasing, or a vague sense that something bad is about to happen—I’m here to help you understand it, untangle it, and start writing a new story with it. Together, we’ll create a space where your nervous system gets to breathe. We’ll explore the roots of your anxiety, build healthier internal dialogue, and practice grounded, creative ways to regulate your emotions. We’ll laugh when we can, cry when we need to, and make room for all the messy middle parts. If you’re ready to stop fighting your anxiety and start getting curious about it, reach out right away.
Accepting new clients. I understand how stress, anxiety, ADHD, depression, burnout, and overwhelming emotions can prevent individuals from living their best lives. I have over 20 years of experience and expertise in helping people manage their mental health. While providing care for all mental health-related issues, I specialize in disordered eating, OCD, and ADHD. I recognize every person's unique needs and am committed to supporting my patients every step of the way, ensuring their well-being and safety are always prioritized. I believe medications play a powerful role in mental health recovery. When thoughtfully combined with therapy, medications can significantly enhance the quality of life and support overall well-being. My goal is always to enhance the quality of life and support overall health. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my partner exploring nature through hiking, swimming, and kayaking. My dogs, the cutest office mates EVER, bring me joy. Life is meant to be lived, not just survived. Let me help you find mental wellness. YOU deserve to truly live life.

I work with people who identify as: quirky/nerdy, highly-intelligent, introverted, highly-sensitive, or as having ADHD or Autism (or some combination of these). People with these traits often share something: a sense of outsider-ship, of not quite belonging. Sometimes that's just fine, but sometimes it hurts, and can lead to loneliness, shame, isolation, depressions, self-loathing--all that fun stuff. I, myself, have 3 or 4 of the above traits, AND was homeschooled on top of it, so my own sense of outsider-ship was crowned with awkward homeschooler social skills :) Learning how to find/choose groups I wanted to belong to, and how to feel like I belonged to them when I got there, has taken a lot of time and energy. If you think what I've learned (and am learning) can be helpful to you, we might be a good fit. ABOUT ME I'm Megan, a Seattle-based therapist. In my six years of mental health experience, I've worked with: teens/young adults with ADHD and Autism (I even led a Dungeons & Dragons social skill group!); teens and adults struggling with addiction; and low-income and foster care children/teens and their caregivers. When I'm not being a therapist, I like book clubs, new recipes, smart conversations, public speaking, and hanging out with my spouse and two children.
In therapy I connect with you in a deep way to empower you in your struggles. Most of us hope to connect with others in an intimate way and to have an impact on the world. I believe we internalize ways of relating in childhood and this informs the ways in which we relate with others in the present. The therapeutic relationship can be a safe place to see more clearly who we are in order that we might be freed to engage in meaningful relationships with others and with ourselves. This awareness can create more space in order that we might be empowered to make our own choices and to have an impact on the world. I work empathically, psychodynamically, eclectically, mindfully and relationally and am interested in getting to know you in a subjective way. I seek to connect relationally in order that you might feel safe to be understood and feel seen. I also consult weekly with colleagues and to ensure that you will receive the highest level of care. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions about the therapy process. Lasting change can happen through a trusting relationship and therefore it is best for us to meet in person to see if we might be a good fit. I am now accepting new clients and look forward to meeting you!
