Therapists for college students near 10003
Are you a deep thinker? Do you benefit from processing situations and thoughts out loud? Together we can navigate the challenges of being a young adult in college. I have over a decade of experience helping young people focus on their mental and emotional health so they can achieve their life goals. I work well with students who are open to being challenged and are seeking better coping and communication skills, working on healthy boundaries and relationships, and achieving a better understanding of themselves.
My role as a therapist is to listen with compassion and provide new perspectives without judgement. I lean into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness to help people become aware of their full self and let go of behaviors that are no longer serving them—like perfectionism, self-sabotage, and unhealthy coping patterns. I am a licensed mental health counselor and provide both in-person and virtual visits for adults in New York State. I am a trained Telemental health therapist with four years of experience working through video and phone sessions for those times when you need a little more flexibility. I specialize in working with young adults, and adults. The patients I see often come to me with issues such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self harm trauma and coping with life. I utilize a mixed array of techniques for adolescents and adult clients. Some techniques I use are Motivational Interviewing, Strength Based Therapy, and Person Centered. I believe it is important to find a good match when finding a therapist. I work to create an environment where the individual feels comfortable, as therapy can be vulnerable at times. As a therapist I believe we are a team.

I work by providing a judgment-free space for my clients and believe that counseling should be tailored to every person’s needs. Every person is different, so it is important to me to hear out clients and help them become the best version of themselves. Because of the wide variety of client needs, I work with all sorts of life's challenges.
The best approach to treatment is a personalized care where all of my clients have the ability to create their own course of treatment. I have multiple years’ experience providing individualized, solution focused therapy. I have worked with children as young as 5 and adults to age 70. Success with both individual and family treatment comes naturally. After meeting with me, you will walk away with the knowledge of how to improve your life. You will understand what treatment will look like, clear goals will be created, and a solid foundation on what to expect moving forward. Throughout the course of treatment, you will begin to learn about yourself. You will learn what works and what does not in terms of how to improve and maintain a positive lifestyle. By the time we are finished with treatment, you will be ready to face the world all on your own. Making that initial call is difficult but we will work together to overcome that barrier. I am available for a free telephone consultation to discuss your needs and to create a plan of action.
