I am very close to MSU campus! Every person has unique needs. Sometimes, it is helpful to have someone to solely listen, and help you manage life's stressors. It is important to assist you in developing coping strategies and techniques to help you in your daily life. I work with teenagers, college students, adults, and couples. I am specifically trained in DBT- Dialectical Behavioral Treatment but also have years of training in Strength Based Training, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Training, Anger Management, and Parenting Skills Training. I look forward to meeting you. I am a graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York, and received my Master's Degree from Syracuse University. I look forward to meeting with you and working with you! I am available evenings and weekends and am willing to try and accommodate any needs that you may have.

I work with children, teens, and adults across the lifespan to build self-esteem and confidence, so that you can feel happier and less stressed. As a former student, we might struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, worry, family issues, or an inner critic that can make the school year feel impossible. We can work together to reduce the "what ifs" and self-critical thoughts that can come with anxiety, panic, and depression. Everyone is unique, which is why I use a variety of skills and approaches in sessions, pulling from both art and science. No matter your age, I love to bring play and creativity into sessions like art, movement, and writing to assist with self-expression, building confidence, and exploring your strengths. Therapy can be like a laboratory- we can try out different approaches to find what works for you, or we can use it as a testing ground to explore how you'd like others to see you. Prior to landing at Therapy Today, I worked at a community mental health agency that served youth and families, many of whom were first-generation or had recently moved to the U.S. I gained experience treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and helping families struggling with life transitions, loss, and family conflict. While earning my Master of Social Work at the University of Michigan, I also served as a school-based therapist and worked alongside parents, teachers, school psychologists, and other professionals to help children continue to learn and grow. When out of the office I enjoy crafting and painting. I also like to play soccer and go out on walks to connect with nature. When it's too cold to be outside, I spend my time indoors playing video games.

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying ‘I will try again tomorrow.'” – Mary Anne Radmacher Hello, I am Katelyn. My therapeutic approach strives to create a safe, warm, validating, and non-judgmental atmosphere. As a therapist, I hold space to explore and express thoughts, emotions, experiences, and authentic sense of self. Life is difficult, and my goal is to meet you where you are throughout its challenges and journeys. I am interested in understanding your goals, values, and needs, and together, we can create a plan for our therapeutic journey together. I emphasize factors of culture, identity, and lived experiences in order to gain a holistic understanding of you as a person. I received my Master’s in Social Work from The University of Michigan in 2024. During grad school, I worked with folks exploring gender identity, sexual identity, and processing mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression. Additionally, I have a passion working with folks who have experienced the impact of trauma and PTSD by helping them create a personal sense of empowerment. I can be found spending my free time with my cat (Luna), reading, finding the best coffee shops around town, and watching Michigan football (Go Blue!).

“There is no love like your own.” My approach to therapy is attachment-based and relationship-focused, as I believe our work is built upon a strong therapeutic foundation. In our relationship, I will help you develop a kinder and safer inner-world to live in, to help you reach your goals and feel more connected to others in your life. We will help you recognize your inner strengths as we walk this journey together. I have previous experience in an adult psychiatric inpatient unit at University of Michigan hospital. This formed my holistic understanding of mental health, and it sharpened my crisis intervention skills. I was drawn to the therapeutic relationships I built in this setting, which is why I transitioned to working in private practice: to build trusting, supportive, therapeutic relationships to help everyone I work with reach their goals and lead more fulfilling lives.

Life changes happen to all of us. Sometimes they happen all at once and sometimes they happen over a long period of time. Maybe you've found yourself struggling to adjust to a major life change or maybe you've realized that it's time to talk about issues that have been building over many years. Whatever the case, I believe that now is the just the right time to begin the process of healing, building connection, and living more wholeheartedly. I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can feel free to explore your feelings, take risks, and engage in the hard work it takes to create lasting positive changes. I provide individual counseling to people of all ages, but specialize in working with teenagers and young adults. Taking the first step to create lasting changes can be a very difficult decision. It is an enormous privilege for me to witness the courage of each of my clients as they embark on their own journeys toward more connection, healing, and wholehearted living.

I've had the privilege of walking alongside clients in their healing journeys and have found that, for many whose trust (in others and in themselves) has been shaken, finally feeling heard and understood serves as a powerful corrective experience. I believe that these experiences are crucial in facilitating personal growth and change. I recognize that all clients have unique strengths, and I build upon these to create a working alliance that is non-judgmental, empowerment-based, and client-focused. Many feel alienated not only in their struggles but in their pursuit of wellbeing, especially when they have not received a great deal of support in making the changes they desire. I am honored to provide such support and join clients on their paths toward healing. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults in the treatment of trauma, complex PTSD, attachment, anxiety, and depression. I am trained in and often utilize trauma-focused interventions including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Forward-Facing Trauma Therapy (FFTT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I also frequently employ solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, and emotional regulation strategies in my practice, depending on each client’s unique needs.
