I believe mental health is just as essential as physical health. Just as we care for our bodies, we deserve the same attention and compassion for our emotional well-being. Therapy isn’t just about managing symptoms—it’s about understanding yourself on a deeper level, finding clarity, and making space for your story to be seen and heard. Every person has a unique journey shaped by their experiences, relationships, and inner world. I see therapy as a space where you can explore that journey without judgment. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to walk alongside you as you make sense of where you’ve been and where you want to go. My approach is grounded in empathy, curiosity, and collaboration. I work to create a supportive, open environment where you can feel safe to be yourself, reflect on your patterns, and begin to grow in ways that feel meaningful to you. Your story matters. I’m here to help you uncover the strength, insight, and resilience that’s already within you. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Michigan State University, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical practice, mental health advocacy, and trauma-informed care. My professional experience includes working in an inpatient behavioral health hospital, where I supported individuals experiencing acute mental health crises in a highly structured and intensive care setting. I also spent time in community mental health, providing services to individuals living with severe and persistent mental illnesses, helping them navigate complex challenges with compassion and consistency. In addition, I’ve provided individual counseling through a nonprofit agency, offering support to clients from diverse backgrounds as they worked through issues such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and trauma.

“The more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I thrive.” — Elliot Page It is my goal to create a space where you feel safe to be who you truly are, and to meet you where you are at. The act of loving and accepting yourself can be a struggle, but it is not an impossible task. Using ideas like radical self love and acceptance, you can learn to love who you are today, and use that to inform who and where you want to be tomorrow! I find that the more you are able to appreciate who you truly are, the more joy you will be able to find in the world around you. I thrive to be flexible with my approach, and want to make going to therapy feel easy, and even fun! I have previous experience working in crisis intervention with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. Through this work I have gained knowledge in providing a trauma informed and empowering environment. I have also worked with individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community, and have a Bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender Studies. Seeing live music, and crafting are my favorite forms of self care. I value creativity and playfulness, and use these to inform how I move through the world. I have 3 cats and a fish that I adore with my whole heart.

Hey there, I’m Georgia. As a therapist my goal is to put you at ease with the process of therapy, and provide a comfortable, warm environment for all of my clients. I emphasize kindness, respect, humor and open communication in my work. I look to create a safe, protected and professional relationship where we can work together to help you address the things that are causing dysfunction in your life, and create opportunities to experience the power of relationships to engage and to heal. In my practice I blend attachment-based, person-centered, trauma-informed and strength-based approaches. I believe that every human is unique and has a unique story, and that therapy should be tailored to best fit you. I have deep respect for the individuals and families who come to therapy, and always seek to support and honor my client’s strengths and resiliencies. It can be very difficult to take on the commitment of therapy and to open up to someone else, and just showing up to therapy is an act of strength and courage. I seek to maintain an affirming and accepting space for all humans, including LGBTQIA2S+ identified individuals. I have 9 years of experience working in the mental health field in research, school, home-based and clinical settings. I have worked primarily with young children, but have also had experience working with infants, toddlers, teens, young adults, parents, families, and pregnant individuals. I have experience providing therapy to children from difficult places, children in foster care, adoptive children, and children who have experienced trauma. I am passionate about working with children, families with young children, and about helping caregivers to grow stronger connections with themselves and with the children in their care. I also enjoy working with individuals of all ages and believe that it is never too early, nor is anyone ever too old, to benefit from a therapeutic relationship. I have completed foundational training for Theraplay® and am now engaging in work based on Theraplay principles. Theraplay is an approach to child and family therapy that aims to address behavioral, emotional, or developmental issues and improve the parent-child relationship through play and healthy interaction. Caregivers of children up to age 12 are welcome to inquire to learn more about this method. A little about me – I live in South Lansing with my partner and our dog, two cats and a small flock of chickens. I spend most of my free time working to transform my 1.3 acre lawn into an urban farm, food forest, and native plant and wildlife refuge. I find my greatest moments of joy and peace in life through engagement and connection with nature, and love to hike, backpack, camp, kayak and explore new places.

I approach counseling as a collaborative process rooted in trust, safety, and respect. My role is to offer a steady space where clients can talk openly about their experiences and be supported while navigating them —at a pace that feels manageable and realistic. I believe all individuals have the power to make meaningful change in their lives and strive to shape the therapy process based on each client's unique strengths, needs, and preferences. I’m a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who works primarily with college students, graduate students, and young adults dealing with ADHD, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, sleep problems, academic stress, executive functioning difficulties, and feeling overwhelmed by everything they are trying to manage at once. I provide both therapy and medication management, depending on your goals. A lot of students I meet are smart, capable, and trying hard, but still feel like they are barely keeping up. They may be procrastinating more, having trouble focusing, falling behind, feeling constantly anxious, or wondering why things seem harder for them than for other people. Usually, that is not a sign that you are lazy or bad at life. It is more often a sign that something needs support. Meeting with me does not mean you have to take medication. It means you will have space to talk through what has been going on, better understand your options, and decide what feels right for you. I am a teacher by nature, so I try to make the process feel clear, and not overwhelming. My goal is to help you understand what is going on in your brain and body so things feel less mysterious and more manageable. I offer longer appointments, can usually see new clients within one week, and provide a complimentary 15-minute consultation if you would like to see whether we might be a good fit. I frequently work with college students and young adults across Southeast Michigan, including those connected to the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Oakland University, and surrounding college communities. In-person and virtual options are available.

I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard, valued, and understood. I believe growth occurs through authentic connection and self-exploration, and I work alongside clients to help them recognize their strengths, gain insight into their experiences, and make meaningful changes in their lives. Before joining Therapy Today, I gained experience working with children, college students, adults, and older adults in a variety of settings. My background includes providing individual and group counseling, conducting psychological assessments, and supporting clients with concerns such as anxiety, stress, life transitions, and identity development. I have also worked with individuals with disabilities and facilitated an LGBTQ+ support group. These experiences have strengthened my ability to meet clients where they are and provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs. Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and staying active. I’m passionate about continual learning and personal growth, and I often find inspiration through reading and creative outlets. I value meaningful connections and believe that authenticity and balance are essential both in and outside the therapy room. These experiences help me relate to clients with empathy and understanding as they navigate their own challenges and seasons of growth.

In the room, I am a warm, engaged, and authentic presence. I believe that the strength of our therapeutic relationship is paramount, and I strive to build a foundation of trust and mutual respect. My voice is empathetic yet direct, offering gentle guidance and insightful reflections to help you uncover patterns, gain new perspectives, and foster lasting change. My style is best described as an integrative blend, primarily drawing from humanistic and person-centered principles. This means our sessions are always focused squarely on you, guided by your goals and pace. I also weave in techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help challenge unhelpful thought patterns and build practical coping skills and incorporate aspects of mindfulness to help you stay grounded and present. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Spring Arbor University, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical practice, mental health advocacy, and trauma-informed care. My professional experience includes working in community mental health, where I support individuals experiencing mental health crises in a highly structured and intensive care setting also providing case management, ensuring that the clients I provided service to have the best care possible. I also spent 12 years working in foster care, offering support to clients from diverse backgrounds as they worked through issues such as past trauma, anxiety, and depression. I am the mother of three children and the grandmother to two beautiful girls. I enjoy spending time with my family sharing food and laughter. I believe that we should not put time limits on our own personal journeys as I completed many life accomplishments later in life. My own personal experience has shown me that therapy can be life changing.

Students I work best with are often feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, anxious, or stuck in patterns that are hard to manage alone. Many are navigating stress related to school, relationships, family dynamics, identity, life transitions, self-esteem, trauma, ADHD, or difficulties with emotional regulation and coping skills. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where students can feel heard, understood, and empowered while building healthier coping strategies, improving emotional awareness, and working toward personal growth at their own pace.
