Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
I specialize in working with people who are feeling overwhelmed and stuck in anxious loops of procrastination and perfectionist behavior. I help clients acknowledge triggers and learn new skills to move towards a life free of self sabotage and guilt to allow space for confidence and hope. I ground in the present while looking at and understanding how your past environment has shaped you. I utilize and encourage your strengths so that you may confidently embrace your desired change and feel empowered to heal through mind-body skills. Together, we will explore how anxiousness, perfectionism, and trauma are present in your body. We will identify your ideal life, then create a plan of action to learn emotional and body regulating skills so you feel more in control to react to life's triggers.

I believe that everyone deserves to be mentally well, and that counseling can be an important part of this journey. I strive to create a safe space where you can engage with vulnerability and self-reflection. A core tenant of my practice is that you are the expert of your own life. This is why I emphasize collaboration and self-determination in the therapeutic relationship and encourage you to explore your own values, strengths and goals in therapy. I enjoy helping clients navigate the many challenges and transitions of life, and strive to be part of the system that supports their wellness and joy. My hope is that through the counseling process you can better tackle the challenges that come your way, learn new ways of coping, and take steps towards meeting your unique goals. My areas of focus include anxiety, stress, compulsive over-eating, body image, perinatal issues, and life transition concerns.

I believe, with a little guidance, a listening hear, and some support that you can find your way through all the pressure to a brighter future. I look forward to helping you define the future that best suits you. Kind Regards, Jeff
I believe therapy is a great way to help you turn the pain you feel today into the strength you feel tomorrow. My philosophy is simple “I help people become an expert on one subject, themselves”. We as human beings are very complex and often need help to navigate through stress, trauma, and life challenges. I witnessed first hand how therapy can change the trajectory of one’s life. I am committed to working alongside my clients to help them find their inner healing and peace. I have worked with many different cultures, genders, and people from different backgrounds.
The years of your twenties can be a time of growth and change. It also is a time filled with feelings of self-doubt, loneliness, and stress. You are being faced with challenges that didn't exist for your parents at your age. Now more than ever adolescents and young adults ages 13 and up are experiencing increasing symptoms of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and difficulties with relationships. Times are not what they used to be and you deserve to be heard. Your opinions and feelings matter! You have worth and your voice is valued. If judgment from others didn't exist, what goals and dreams would you reach for I am with you on this journey, to discover your strengths, empower your soul, uncovering the passion within you. I provide a safe and empathetic environment that utilizes skills focusing on regulating emotions, improving relationships, cognitive distortions, while also incorporating strengths to increase confidence and true acceptance of self. When I was in my twenties, rather than feeling possibilities were endless, I struggled with feeling lost and alone. This period represented inadequacy and defeat. They were the most challenging years in my life. Through the battle with myself, I discovered my passion and ability to truly relate and understand this age group. I believe we don’t have to be defined by our past, but much of our past may be constraining us from who we can and want to be. You only know what you know, and allowing yourself the space, time, and freedom to redefine what that means for you can help you live a life you are meant, deserve, and worth living. I would be honored to be invited into that space with you.
Welcome! Starting counseling is not easy and by coming here you have taken an important first step. This is meant to be a safe and non-judgmental space. I am a licensed master social worker with a wide variety of life experiences which have given me the opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I am continually working to expand my therapeutic knowledge and skills in order to offer clients the right treatment for individual needs. That said I do embrace aspects of “positive psychology”. I like to accentuate what is right with you and not focus only on what is “wrong” with you. I have specialized training in Infant Mental Health, several behavioral therapies (DBT, CBT, ACT, MBCT), Child Parent Psychotherapy, and trauma informed therapies. I lean towards the so called “third wave” cognitive behavioral therapies which include concepts such as acceptance and mindfulness. I have experience treating people with a range of challenges including but not limited to depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief and loss, PTSD and trauma. I believe that everyone has the capacity to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life. Sometimes we face challenges and barriers which may seem overwhelming. Therapy can help identify the source of these challenges and how to overcome them. Currently I work with adults and couples, and accept most major insurances.

I'm passionate about helping young adults (19+) learn more about themselves, heal from depression/anxiety, navigate stress, and reach their future personal and professional goals. As an Asian American therapist, I am in a unique position of having personal experiences and understanding of how cultural and societal issues impact our mental health. As a result, I affirm all genders, races, sexualities, and ethnicities. I strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment so we can work through stress, growth, and improve your wellbeing and college/grad experience.
