To me, therapy is the act of helping people learn to experience their emotions safely in the moment, to be truly present and their genuine selves as they go about their day. I work with people to bring awareness to the impact of the past, to make conscious the connections and patterns that inform our everyday experience so that they can decide whether they want to continue with them or if they want to try something new. Therapy is the practice of getting to know yourself and working out what’s best for you. It is the practice of loosening these binds and learning to live free and fully present in our lives. Employing an integrative approach utilizing both psychodynamic and cognitive-based interventions, I have experience providing both long and short term treatment for individuals, groups and couples focusing on issues such as trauma, sexuality and relationships, developmental issues, self-harm, grief and loss, and depression and anxiety. Whatever you have been through, whatever you are going through, you have the power to take control of your mental and emotional health; therapy simply means you don’t have to do it alone.

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” Lao Tzu Welcome, thank you for looking at my profile. I am a bilingual Spanish/English therapist who believes in the power of self-discovery and insight to generate change. I believe in kindness and that each and everyone of us has something positive to bring and share with others. With over ten years of experience helping families through major life events, I have gained a strong grasp of resilience and determination. I am committed to upholding everyone’s inherent dignity, sense of belonging, and capacity for self-determination. My approach to counseling is rooted in cultural humility, a commitment to understanding your unique background without making assumptions. I recognize the profound impact that culture, identity, and background play in our lives. I approach every session with genuine curiosity and respect, valuing your experiences and perspectives as the expert on your own story. I provide an environment that is welcoming, empowering, and, above all, focused on your individual needs. Recognizing that you are the foremost authority on your own experience, my aim is to support you throughout this process and collaborate in a manner that aligns with your present goals. Whether you’re facing life changes, dealing with anxiety, depression, experienced trauma, family conflict, or exploring your identity, I offer tools and insights for healing and growth. If you want judgment-free support on this journey, I welcome the opportunity to help. Over the past decade, I have worked with marginalized communities, especially immigrants who have encountered various forms of trauma and who are adapting to the complex process of acculturation. I have experience working with families and children in various residential settings and within the foster care system. Furthermore, I have experience working with clients who have sustained traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and supporting their process of adjustment and recovery. My favorite activities include outdoor pursuits, enjoying nature, cooking, gardening, reading, crafting, and spending time with family, friends, and pets.

Everyone lives a diverse, intersectional existence with idiosyncratic experience. Acknowledging this means relating to others with inclusivity, openness, and humility. This philosophy not only humanizes students, many of whom identify as marginalized community members (e.g., BIPOC, LGBTQ+, accessibility needs, low-SES), but also honors their authenticity. Thus, I practice from an existential-humanistic-relational lens so I can naturally tailor therapy with evidence-based techniques (e.g., CBT, SFT, ACT) and psychological theories (e.g., identity, attachment, multicultural) necessary for understanding students’ intersectionality. I typically work with students experiencing elevated anxiety and depression, while specializing in identity development, interpersonal dynamics (e.g., relating to others), relational trauma, and existential concerns (e.g., authenticity, choice, meaning). Early sessions help form a therapeutic alliance, revealing underlying issues that manifest as psychological distress (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma). From there, we identify coping skills, foster hope, and alleviate symptoms as you gain insight-oriented feedback. We also collaborate to explore, discover, and empower actions for you to become the most authentic version of self. The modern world is daunting, with a pace and pivot difficult to navigate. The rapid spin of sudden chaos. Steady drift of aimless wander. Dead still of eternal stagnation. As a serving spirit, I provide a healthy space for students to be and become that who they are and will be. Here, all are welcome. Here… all are an expression of hope and self-empowerment.

I am a fully licensed psychologist who specializes in providing assessment services for adults, adolescents, and children. The path to self-understanding can be a challenging one. My goal through testing is to provide a safe place for individuals to gain insight into their behaviors, personality, and mental health concerns. These assessments typically examine the person's history, behavioral observations, and test results to provide appropriate diagnosis and treatment recommendations. I am well versed with psychological testing with diagnosis of attention issues (ADD/ADHD) and differential diagnosis for clinical syndromes. I also offer screening for learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.

“Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and loved more than you will ever know.” -A.A. Milne Whether you are struggling with a life transition, family or romantic relationship issue or overwhelmed with stress from work or school, I want you to know that I will do my best to hold a safe and judgment-free space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I will help you look deeper into yourself on your journey of positive change, personal growth, and self-improvement. Let’s work together to figure out why you are not as happy as you would like to be and work towards living up to your full potential, for yourself, and the people in your life. As your therapist, it is important to me to use a humanistic, trauma-informed, holistic approach with you. I will see you as a whole person first and not defined by any clinical diagnosis. My approach is focused on each individual’s unique strengths to best navigate working together towards accomplishing goals. Most importantly, you are incredibly strong for taking this initial step of seeking support to start taking back control of your life. I look forward to holding a respectful safe space for you to grow, heal, and start living the happier and healthier life you desire and deserve. I graduated from Kalamazoo College with a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Studio Art while being a collegiate student athlete. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan with a concentration in Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse. I worked at a mental health and substance use sober living and outpatient clinic as a case manager, led female group therapy, and assisted with the yoga group therapy sessions. I then worked as a psychotherapist at a mental health private practice providing therapy to a variety of population groups and individuals of all ages before joining the amazing community of therapists at Therapy Today, Ann Arbor. My education, training, and unique life experiences have provided me the skill set to utilize a variety of evidence-based modalities including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and other evidence-based strategies to best work with clients towards change and growth. It is important to me to use a trauma-informed holistic approach with clients by seeing each client as a whole person first and how the make up of their life experiences, environment influences, and family genealogy impact a person’s mental and physical health.

Sometimes we lose our sense of self and feel overwhelmed by our emotions, experiences, and life's responsibilities. Other times, we lack a space where we can show up as we are, and have someone join us in our experience. I value creating a collaborative space for exploration, healing, and understanding. Together, we can create a space where you are heard and where you can explore what brings meaning to your life. I work with clients who may be navigating life transitions, are feeling distressed, or experiencing interpersonal issues. Early on, we will develop a trusting relationship, exploring your current concerns and collaborating to find ways to address them. I often use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered, and Strengths- based techniques. After exploring what's brining you into therapy, we will work on increasing your tolerance of certain emotions while living a life that brings you fulfillment and meaning.

My hope for clients is to not merely function but to thrive! I don't want you to forgive and forget your traumas. I want you to own them and break the shame that keeps you shut down. Other people may have left you in some dark places, but you have the power to get yourself out. You deserve to have a life worth living, even in the moments you struggle to believe it. I've dedicated my career to trauma and grief therapy working with hundreds of clients and trauma professionals in a multitude of settings; from coordinating trauma programs at psychiatric hospitals to consulting with various community mental health agencies, groups, and practices.
