Supportive, Client-Based and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Life can feel heavier than it should, especially when you're trying to navigate a season of big changes and high expectations. You might notice you're constantly overthinking, feeling drained by a relentless cycle of daily responsibilities, or running on fumes as a high achiever who never quite feels like "enough." Over time, the stress of managing deadlines, next steps, and independent life can take a toll on your sleep, your relationships, and your energy—making it hard to actually enjoy your day-to-day life. My goal is to offer a welcoming, supportive space where you can step away from the pressure and talk openly about what’s truly on your mind. Together, we’ll work to better understand what you’re experiencing, find realistic ways to manage the unique challenges of modern transitions, and help you feel more confident, grounded, and connected to the life you want to live. When you reach out, you’ll connect directly with me. There is no front desk screening, I want your first connection to be as simple, private, and stress-free as possible. The way I work is grounded in warmth, respect, and a judgment-free space where you don’t have to have your entire future figured out. Together, we’ll focus on what you want to change, whether that’s finding more calm amidst daily stress, building healthier relationships, silencing overthinking, or reclaiming your confidence.
When life goes differently than anticipated you may be left grieving, feeling disconnected from life, or from yourself. You deserve to have a compassionate space to process and honor your experiences. Together, we'll explore the narratives woven through your life, understanding how past experiences continue to shape your present reality. We will reconnect you to your power, build resiliency, and learn to use your voice to live your life more authentically. With a relationship built with trust and compassion, you're invited to explore your deepest truths, express your fears, and bravely write a new story for your life. Therapy is a collaborative journey, and your voice, experiences, and perspective are central to our work together. Depending on your needs, we'll examine how family, gender, culture, and social expectations have influenced your sense of self, relationships, and aspirations. I draw from a variety of frameworks including Feminist, Narrative, and Family Systems. Reaching out is hard. If it scares you, you're not alone. You may try considering if your fear is saying "now's not the right time" or if its something more akin to "what will this change in my life". Curiosity, excitement, & the adrenaline of taking "the next step" can feel scary. Whatever you decide, trust you're right on time in your own journey.
I believe that therapy is a partnership where you and I work together to achieve your chosen goals. While I can draw upon my skills, experience, education and training to offer coping skills, new perspectives, and options, I believe that you are the expert in your own lived experience. I understand that you may be new to therapy, or have had negative experiences with therapy in the past. I hope to offer a safe space through non-judgmental, compassionate responses to help you overcome the challenges you are facing. I have 26 years of experience providing advocacy for survivors of domestic violence from diverse backgrounds. I have supported numerous survivors who have experienced anxiety, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and/or systems-induced trauma (trauma induced from the criminal legal system, the family courts, and CPS). I have been a member of Reimagining Transformative Community Services since 2020, a group dedicated to building community capacity to address harms as an alternative to systems that create more harm. I have been licensed in Clinical and Macro Practice since 2014. I grew up in Lansing, MI. I still live in the area because there is a lot to do here, yet it only takes 15-20 minutes to get anywhere by car. I love to cook and spend time with my dog. My dream job is to be a stay-at-home dog mom. Until then, I work to normalize therapy, help people get to better places in their lives, and advocate for community care in addition to self-care.
"Going away to college" can be a wonderful and terrifying experience all at the same time: learning how to manage the many details of daily life while figuring out the big picture of who you are and what you want to do. It can also be a time of sorting out family relationships and choosing new paths. It can bring up a lot of anxiety, stress and self-doubt. We have many combined years of helping people through these experiences. If you would like intelligent, warm and useful support in navigating your thoughts and emotions, please give us a call.

We work together as a team on this journey!

Hello! I am a mental health therapist (LLC). I offer both in person and virtual mental health therapy appointments. I have a wide range of experiences and am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe that counseling is a collaborative process where clients are able to explore within a safe, affirmative, and compassionate space. By centering on the client’s voice and experience, healing is supported with self-empowerment and compassion. I also recognize that there are connections between the mind and body which can allow for alternative methods of healing to be explored so the best fit can be found for each individual. My current clinical interests include concerns related to sex, sexuality, and gender identity as well as life phase adjustments and relational issues. While interested in learning many psychological techniques, I maintain a framework focused on existential theory and strengths-based practices.

I also am trained in CPT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, which is helpful in reducing symptoms of PTSD. College life has many challenges and I help with reducing them as well as understanding them. I also work with staff to process challenges that are affecting their overall mental health. I look forward to hearing from you.
At Willow Birch Therapy, our mission is to foster healing and growth by recognizing that emotional struggles, like the branches of a tree, extend from the deeply rooted experiences and traumas hidden beneath the surface. I work with teens and adults who are thoughtful, sensitive, and often high-functioning, but are carrying more than others can see. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, or feeling caught in patterns that are hard to change. My work is neurodivergent-affirming. This means I don’t see ADHD, autism, or other forms of neurodivergence as problems to fix, but as important parts of how you experience the world. Whether you have a diagnosis or are simply exploring, I offer a space to better understand your brain, reduce shame, and build a life that honors your needs and strengths. I also support clients navigating trauma, grief, religious or spiritual hurt, identity shifts, and major life transitions. I offer a grounded, respectful space for exploring emotion, meaning, and self-connection. My approach integrates somatic awareness, relational depth, and gentle structure to bring steadiness and coherence. I honor grief, sensitivity, and identity work as pathways toward clarity, healing, and renewal. I am also trained in Brainspotting, a somatic therapy and am working toward becoming ADHD-CCDP certified. Therapy can offer steadiness, a place to listen inward, integrate, and reconnect with yourself. It would be an honor to be a part of your support team.
I work well with many clients, but the following clients would get the most out of scheduling an appointment. A client who is trying to navigate through some significant life changes/stressors and who is clear that things need to change in their lives, but is not sure where to start. A client who needs guidance to steer themselves towards their life goals. I believe that there is seldom a "right way" to achieve a certain outcome, and treatment needs to be tailored to a client's needs. I can offer more structured approaches, such as CBT, or less structured approaches, such as existential therapy.
