My clients are looking for growth and/or healing, and are motivated by pressing questions about life, specifically their own. I use a friendly, conversational approach that will help you learn more about yourself, about the dynamics of your world, and about skillful practices you can use for taking on inner and outer challenges. Weirdly enough, the process often alternates between serious/moving and lovely/fun. And isn’t that a good range for life as well? Be in touch, and let's see what we can accomplish together.

I enjoy working with students and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship problems and stress. I accept individuals as they are with no judgement, and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to teach my students healthy coping mechanisms that they can use when facing life's challenges. Stress is inevitable, especially when juggling, school, work and family life, but once you have the tools needed to manage it effectively, life becomes more peaceful and easier to navigate. Let me help you get there.

I have been working with college students, both traditional- and non-traditional-aged, for many years. I previously worked at the Student Health and Counseling Center at Goucher College and more recently, I worked at the UMBC Counseling Center as an Assistant Director and Training Director for doctoral psychology training programs. My goal is to assist students in identifying their strengths and effective coping patterns - and introduce healthy new ones - to help them with whatever issue or challenge they are currently facing. I have experience working with students with depression, anxiety, body image and eating concerns, relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma, and adjustment/transition problems. I have day-time, in-person appointments at my office on Key Highway, across from the Baltimore Museum of Industry.

Taking the first step by deciding to pursue therapy can be difficult. Living with untreated anxiety or depression can be even worse. Most of our lives we are taught to protect ourselves by keeping vulnerabilities hidden and keeping people at a safe distance. Therapy encourages just the opposite: to reveal your innermost thoughts and feelings to a stranger- your therapist. This process can be unsettling. However, by articulating these emotions, putting words to the oftentimes debilitating feelings, life becomes more manageable and healing begins. Together we will create a space that is comfortable and safe to put this in to practice. We will work to process difficult emotions and experiences so that we don't stay stuck in them. I can be reached by phone or email. We will talk briefly before our first session to decide if I am the right fit for you.

I am a therapist with 13 years experience who recently relocated to Maryland. I have specialized my work in the medical setting with those with chronic illnesses and have also cared for many in the LGBTQI+ community. I enjoy providing counseling to pre-teens, teens and young adults. I have had the privilege to witness the most vulnerable moments with my clients and then observe their growth, healing, and evolution. I would be honored to play a role in your journey too. The idea of therapy is challenging for some. I focus on meeting my clients at their comfort level and prioritize their personal goals and needs. I utilize evidence-based modalities: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Both of these examine the connections between thoughts, feelings and actions to help individuals make changes in their life. I also have training in: Emotional Freedom Technique, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Internal Family Systems I believe that counseling should capitalize on the client’s creativity, imagination, and interests. Therefore, I often encourage artistic expression and the use of physical movement to address depressive symptoms, anxiety, and the challenges of grief and loss. Let’s work together to tailor an approach based upon your unique strengths and areas of need. I am only self-pay at this time. I am in the process of being paneled with Carefirst/BCBS (PPO, POS, HMO and Federal plans) and Johns Hopkins Hospital EHP (However, if you have a different insurance plan and it offers out-of-network benefits, you should receive some.)
