I'm happy that you are here. I am a LMHC licensed in MA and NH. l specialize in treating those dealing with addiction, transitions, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. I am certified in treatment for ARFID The most important part of therapy is the connection the therapist has with their client, which is something I prioritize. While therapy can be challenging, as we begin to truly look in the mirror it can also be a place of connection and trust. There is a great power in having someone to talk to and work through life with. I am here to help you in whatever way I can, whether that means a listening ear, a safe place to cry, or working towards your goals.
Lighthouse Counseling & Sand Play Training Center is an outpatient facility providing support through scheduled appointments only for families, children, couples, and individuals. We also offer workshops and groups for individuals seeking community and support. Sand Play therapy allows the person to tap into the psyche. Through the use of symbolic figures, a person is able to create in the sand tray stories which examine their wounds, the effects from those wounds, and the possibilities for resolution. The practitioner is then able to help a person to connect insights to feelings and begin the journey toward healing. Through Sand Play, the adult client is able to build the skills necessary to avoid the problematic patterns of the past. Children’s thoughts and feelings are given a voice through symbolic play, enabling them to resolve their issues in a language they understand. “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) integrates elements of many effective psychotherapies in structured protocols that are designed to maximize treatment effects. These include psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and body-centered therapies. EMDR is an information processing therapy and uses an eight phase approach ….After EMDR processing, clients generally report that the emotional distress related to the memory has been eliminated, or greatly decreased and that they have gained important cognitive insights. Importantly, these emotional and cognitive changes usually result in spontaneous behavioral and personal change, which are further enhanced with standard EMDR procedures.” The development of the addictive personality is not an overnight event. Often times, an addicted person will have a history of trauma and grief. It is critical to have a comprehensive treatment plan with a therapist who specializes in addictions work in order to make a full recovery. We treat addictions to illegal drugs, alcohol and prescription medications as well as sexual addictions.
At Topsail Addiction Treatment in North Andover, we’re here for college students from Merrimack College—literally right down the street—and nearby spots like Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill or UMass Lowell, who are battling addiction while trying to keep their college life together. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is built for students like you—maybe you’re a Merrimack Warrior stressed out from exams and turning to drinking or drugs to cope, or a commuter student from Lawrence feeling trapped by a gambling habit that’s spiraled out of control. We connect best with those who are juggling school, work, or campus vibes but finding that substance use or betting is throwing them off track. We’re a great fit for students who are ready to face the mess—whether it’s partying too hard to numb the pressure, skipping classes because of a hangover, or losing cash you can’t afford on bets—and want to get back to feeling steady without dropping everything. Located just a couple miles from Merrimack College in North Andover, we’re easy to reach from Andover, Methuen, or Haverhill, and we’ve got your schedule covered with morning, afternoon, and evening IOP sessions. Got daytime classes? Our evening options let you hit the books during the day and get support after. With flexible sessions to match your life—mornings for early risers, afternoons for between-class gaps, or evenings to keep your days free—we’re here to help you break free from addiction and get back to thriving. Welcome to Insights Psychological Services. College and graduate school can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. You may be juggling academic pressure, relationships, career decisions, family expectations, identity, and the constant feeling that you should be doing more—or handling it all better. At Insights, we provide virtual therapy for college students, graduate students, young adults, professionals, and couples throughout Massachusetts. Our therapists take a warm, relational approach to therapy. We believe that feeling understood, comfortable, and genuinely connected with your therapist is an important part of creating meaningful and lasting change. **We are currently welcoming new clients with Dr. Samantha Jackson, our postdoctoral fellow at Insights.** Dr. Jackson provides a warm, thoughtful, and collaborative space for clients who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply wanting to understand themselves more deeply. She especially enjoys working with college and graduate students, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, identity concerns, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, perfectionism, burnout, and major life transitions. Dr. Jackson takes a relational and psychodynamically informed approach, helping clients explore not only what they are experiencing, but also the patterns, relationships, and experiences that may be contributing to how they feel today. Her goal is to create a space where clients can feel genuinely heard and comfortable being themselves while working toward meaningful change. More broadly, our clinicians at Insights frequently work with anxiety, depression or low mood, ADHD, perfectionism, burnout, stress, panic, OCD tendencies, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, family-of-origin issues, trauma, and major life transitions. We also support clients exploring racial and cultural identity, gender and sexual identity, sexual health, neurodivergence, and religious or existential concerns. Therapy doesn't have to be another place where you're expected to have everything figured out. It can be a space to slow down, better understand yourself and your patterns, work through what's getting in the way, and develop healthier ways of navigating your relationships and your life. **Dr. Jackson currently has immediate telehealth openings for new clients.** We offer a **free 20-minute consultation** so you can meet with us, ask questions, and see whether Dr. Jackson—or another therapist at Insights—feels like the right fit. Person Centered Therapy provides individual, family, and couples therapy to treat a multitude of mental health conditions. I particularly enjoy working with college students and young adults to guide them through career and life transitions as well as helping them to overcome limiting beliefs so they can thrive. I have over 27 years of experience in helping clients overcome anxiety, depression, anger, trauma/PTSD, grief/loss, stress, self-esteem, gender identity, phobias, and other issues which once prevented them from accomplishing their goals and making the important changes they wanted in life. Clients can expect “person centered” therapy which means the focus is on each person’s own unique insights and experiences. This empowers our clients to take a lead role in their therapy which offers them autonomy, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and help to reach their full potential to live a fulfilling life. We offer a safe and supportive environment so clients not only receive encouragement, but also feel comfortable being fully involved in sharing their thoughts and experiences. Such a supportive approach encourages clients to explore their own insights, find solutions, and take a very active role in their therapy. This method also promotes self-awareness, personal growth, autonomy and empowerment plus helps to develop healthy and effective coping strategies to improve emotional well-being and functioning across all areas.
Do you find yourself overcome with anxiety, stress, or intrusive thoughts? You may feel stuck in your own head, think negative "what-if" thoughts, or replay social situations in your mind, critiquing what you said and overanalyzing how everyone else responded. Are you ready to make a change? If so, allow me to guide you in shifting your mind from being your arch enemy to your powerful ally. My clients and I work together as a team. We will talk about the negative thinking patterns affecting you the most, and strategies to change them so that you can breathe a sigh of relief as you feel their grip on you loosen. My clients learn new ways of approaching their thoughts, and techniques to calm their minds for immediate and long-term relief. Practicing these tools in-between our sessions ensures that you are developing new healthy habits to support lasting change. I use strategies based on scientific research so you can get the results you are looking for. If you are tired of feeling stuck and are ready to take that first step toward feeling better, call or email me today. Change starts from within, and I am here to guide you in that process.
Starting or returning to college can bring up unique challenges—navigating relationships, managing stress, adjusting to new independence, or figuring out who you are and what you want. Many of my clients are balancing academics with the ups and downs of friendships, family, dating, and questions about their identity. My practice is LGBTQ-affirming and welcoming to students of all backgrounds. I provide a calm and supportive space where you can slow down, untangle what feels overwhelming, and begin to feel more grounded. Whether you’re seeking clarity in relationships, support with stress or anxiety, or a place to process deeper emotions, therapy can be a meaningful step toward feeling more connected and at ease with yourself.
