Hi, I'm Shanakay. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adolescents, teens, and adults across Georgia, Florida, Kansas, and Missouri. Life has a way of handing us more than we feel ready for, and when that happens, having someone in your corner can make all the difference. That is the role I hope to play. I especially enjoy walking with people through anxiety, depression, stress, and big life transitions. These challenges can feel overwhelming and isolating, but they are often where the most meaningful growth happens. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based, drawing on CBT and DBT to help you build practical skills that create real, lasting change in everyday life. Therapy, to me, is a space for growth, healing, and self-discovery, a chance to understand yourself more fully and create change that fits your values and goals. I hold onto a simple belief that guides my work: growth begins the moment you believe change is possible. I see clients through WellQor, which offers online therapy so we can connect from wherever you are most comfortable. To begin, visit the WellQor website and complete the Get Started form. A patient liaison will then text you the next steps and help schedule your first session. When I'm not with clients, you'll find me with family and friends, outdoors, and traveling whenever I can.

What is outpatient counseling? Our mental health is important in every stage of life, from childhood to adolescence to adulthood. It affects how we think, feel, act, handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Major life events, traumatic experiences, and even stress can significantly impact our ability to successfully function at seemingly easy daily tasks. If you have been feeling overwhelmed, then outpatient counseling may be for you. Outpatient counseling can help children, adults, and families address the effects of trauma, improve stress management skills, and resolve problematic behaviors and relationship issues. Counseling helps identify triggers and patterns and teaches new skills to process current and past circumstances. With counseling, children, adults, and families experience personal growth and change to have happier, more productive lives. Certified in trauma-informed care, we offer therapeutic services in an atmosphere of acceptance to promote your well-being. We’ll match you with knowledgeable and caring therapists who can help with: Abuse/Neglect Addiction Adoption Anxiety Conflict Resolution Depression Family Relationship Struggles Grief/Loss Identity Self-Esteem Stress Substance Abuse

Many people come into therapy with the stress and anxiety of trying to balance so many roles- like student, intern, friend, partner- and feeling like they can't keep up. Through therapy we can work together to identify the things that are causing distress in your life and seek to find balance, meaning and get back to a life worth living.

Relationships can be hard. Communication can be challenging. Feeling anxious, uncertain, directionless, or out-of-control can feel overwhelming and at times debilitating. It is so easy to become stuck in a cycle of frustration or hopelessness which creates thought loops fixated on these feelings. It can feel impossible to see what lies beyond the immediate struggles we can’t seem to work through. While most of us feel the need to address these struggles, so few of us have the time or energy to “fix” these stuck points and successfully move past them. That’s where I step in to help. If interested, please send me an email and we'll schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we're a good fit.

In-network telehealth psychiatry for Kansas and Texas. Many of the students I work with are navigating big life changes, academic pressure, and the challenges of balancing school with everything else in life. You might be feeling stressed, anxious, unfocused, down, or just “off” and not like yourself. Some students come to me because they’re struggling to manage ADHD symptoms, experiencing depression or anxiety, or coping with grief and loss. Others simply know they’re not feeling their best and want support before things get worse. If you’re looking for someone who listens without judgment, helps you make sense of what you’re going through, and works with you to create a plan that fits your life, we may be a great match. Together, we can find strategies—whether through medication, lifestyle changes, or both—to help you feel more focused, balanced, and confident in yourself.

Does your mind constantly run? Cannot turn it off? Do you worry yourself to sleep or that you are “going crazy”? Anxiety, worry, and over-thinking are common in today’s fast-paced world, but help is available. Counselors give advice. Unsure about what to do? They’ll tell you. This is comforting, but this is not therapy. In sessions, we explore your mind, how it ticks, and how to focus your time and energy on things that matter to most to you. Unlike other theories which focus on labeling thoughts and feelings as “good” or “bad” and attempting to change them, Mindfulness seeks at relating to them differently.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.

Hi, I’m Eriko. I work with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or weighed down by life’s challenges. You might be trying to keep everything together on the outside while feeling exhausted, disconnected, or unsure of yourself on the inside. Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I want our conversations to feel like a place where you can be yourself without worrying about being judged or having all the answers. Together, we’ll make sense of what’s been going on, explore what’s getting in your way, and help you move toward the life you want. I have additional training in EMDR, which can be helpful for people who feel like past experiences are still affecting them today. I also enjoy working with people navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and pregnancy or postpartum changes. My hope is that you’ll leave each session feeling heard, supported, and a little more confident in your ability to handle whatever comes next.
