Therapists for college students near 30309
My name is Shannon (she/her), and I came into this field, as many mental health professionals do, in response to my own inner demons and trauma. I have a passion for women’s issues, the queer population, and folx affected by sexual trauma and domestic violence. I am a single mom with two small kids, two cats, and a rambunctious dog, so needless to say I understand the strain of trying to balance a busy life. My approach to therapy is grounded in CBT and feminist therapy, with a few sprinkles of radical acceptance and dark humor. I am also a firm believer that my client is the expert on their own life, and I am happy to adjust my styles and/or make more appropriate referrals when I am not the right fit.
Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor in Georgia. I offer telehealth services for college students using a client-centered and integrative approach that best fits each individual client. I have experience in working with anxiety-related disorders, phobias, and OCD. I have been trained in Exposure and Response Prevention, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment modalities. I also have experience in working with BFRBs (hair pulling, skin picking, etc). I have worked with many college students who are struggling with anxiety performance, social anxiety, perfectionism, as well as students who are in need of having someone to talk things out with and receive supportive and interactive feedback on strategies and coping skills that may help. I prefer to work along side of the college students using a collaborative approach. Together, we will decide on the best goals to work on. I do like to provide tools and strategies that you can practice outside of session as well.

This process of being and becoming that we engage with as humans can simultaneously be both beautiful and incredibly challenging. The decision to take part in therapy can begin a transformative process that allows you to develop greater insight as well as ignite necessary behavioral changes. This can help promote greater well-being, vitality, healing, growth, resiliency, and self-actualization. There is perhaps no greater gift to give yourself than to invest in a process of self-exploration. Such exploration will better enable you to develop a deeper connection with your authentic self so that you may reach your optimal potential. Ultimately, engaging in therapy can be an empowered step toward claiming a life that feels more fulfilling, intentional and aligned with your goals. In turn, there is no greater honor for me than to get to share a part of your journey. I believe therapy to be a collaborative and relational process. You can expecte me to treat you with compassion and respect. I am a licensed psychologist in private practice after working in university counseling centers since 2003. Most recently, I served as the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at George Washington University since June 2020 after serving as Director of Counseling at Ursinus College since 2013. Prior to that I’ve worked in the counseling centers at Drexel, Columbia and Princeton University after completing my pre-doctoral internship at the counseling center at Johns Hopkins University and receiving my PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2010. Prior to that, I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Washington and Lee University and my master’s degree in psychological counseling from Teacher’s College, Columbia University Collectively, these roles allowed me to identify my passion for providing quality mental health services to the adult and young adult population, particularly in helping the undergraduate and graduate students navigate through identity, relational and transitional concerns and stressors. In these roles, I both provided direct therapy to university students as well as oversight for the delivery of counseling services- including staff supervision and management, evaluation and assessment of services and programs, establishing best practices for the centers that met the needs of the campus community and supported student development objectives as well as the academic mission. I most enjoyed working directly with students to address both clinical and developmental issues and frequently experienced that through therapy, they could better realize their potential. I am very excited to be returning to a purely clinical role to dedicate my energy to providing direct therapy. I provide a warm, compassionate, supportive and empowering environment in which I meet individuals where they are and help them to feel seen, heard, and affirmed in order to heal, learn and grow. I believe that each client must be understood as an individual whose sense of self has been informed through many social, cultural and relational interactions.
Welcome to Kendall P. Weinberg Counseling. My pronouns are She/Hers. I provide a safe and supportive space for my clients to engage with whatever challenges they are encountering on their journey. We all get stuck once in a while. It can be helpful to have an outside perspective with fresh tools to help you in your journey forward. I’m affirming and here to guide you toward clarity. I am accomplished in seeing an individual in the context of their world (relationships, work, physical habits) and noting how patterns in one area may be impacting another. My demeanor is calm and centered, creating a space for true openness and acceptance. I know change is hard, and we naturally resist the unknown. That’s why it’s helpful to have a guide on your path, someone who helps enlighten during a struggle. I also have the ability to find humor in the creative ways life brings important lessons to our attention.
I enjoy helping others reach their goals using a personable, down-to-earth, and collaborative approach. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing clients succeed in reaching or exceeding their goals. My specialties include stress, anxiety, relationships, motivation, focus, and confidence/assertiveness. Holistic in scope, my approach takes into consideration the many facets of you as an individual, including one's physical health, interpersonal relationships, and spirituality (if desired). Having taught mindfulness now for over 20 years, I enjoy incorporating these skills, helping my clients to be more present and relaxed daily. I work collaboratively with clients helping them to skillfully move toward the change they are seeking and ultimately gain more personal freedom and resiliency in the face of life’s varied challenges. In addition to being a therapist, I am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. This helps me to educate my clients on how diet, exercise, and lifestyle affect mental health. College can be a fun and exciting chapter of life, but when something goes wrong, it can quickly feel out of control and overwhelming. Many students I work with are high achievers who appear to have it all together, yet privately struggle with anxiety, ADHD, self-doubt, loneliness, or the pressure to constantly perform and succeed, especially leading up to graduation as they prepare for the next chapter. When we live with constant pressures and a lack of self-compassion, we may begin feeling exhausted, disconnected, and unsure of ourselves. As a health psychologist, I enjoy helping college students navigate the academic, social, and personal challenges of this stage of life. Together, we’ll identify what’s getting in the way, build practical skills to manage stress and stay focused, and strengthen your confidence and self-compassion. My goal is always to ensure you feel heard and understood, and to help you create a life that feels balanced, meaningful, and true to who you are. Together, we gain clarity on personal values, goals, and we build strategies to break through barriers and move towards what you truly want in life.
I specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, college stress, anxiety, depression, and substance-related challenges. My goal is to meet you where you are, gently uncover the roots of pain or overwhelm, and support you in reclaiming a sense of balance, strength, and self-compassion. I utilize EMDR, CBT, DBT, and ACT therapeutic approaches in my practice.

At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, we work best with college students who feel overwhelmed, stressed, or uncertain—even if everything looks “fine” on the outside. Many of the students we support are balancing classes, work, family expectations, relationships, and the pressure to figure out their future, all at the same time. You may be experiencing constant stress, anxiety that makes it hard to focus, low confidence, or feeling stuck in your own head. Some students come to us feeling burned out, disconnected, or unsure of who they are becoming. Others are navigating depression, self-esteem challenges, relationship concerns, or major life transitions. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and support is available. Our practice is built on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where students can openly talk about what they’re going through without feeling rushed, labeled, or misunderstood. We focus on meeting you where you are and tailoring care to your individual needs, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, counseling is a collaborative process. We believe progress happens best when clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their growth. Our clinicians work alongside students to build practical coping skills, increase emotional awareness, and strengthen confidence in both academic and personal areas of life. Using a client-centered and strengths-based approach, we help students identify their values, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, mood challenges, and relationship concerns. Our goal is not just to help you get through college, but to support you in building skills and self-understanding that will serve you well beyond it.
Feeling stuck? You’re not alone. Taking the first step toward change can feel overwhelming, but there’s no better time than now to prioritize your well-being. As a licensed and board-certified mental health counselor, I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space to help you break through the barriers that may be holding you back—often rooted in past painful experiences. Together, we’ll explore how those experiences continue to affect you and work toward healing so you can move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of self. I view therapy as a collaborative process. We'll work together as a team, and I’ll empower you to use your own voice—both in the counseling space and in your day-to-day life. When appropriate, I also enjoy incorporating pop culture and “geek culture” into sessions, using them as creative therapeutic tools alongside traditional approaches. Clients often describe me as calming, easy to talk to, down to earth, and authentic. I’m currently accepting new clients from all over Georgia and Florida for morning and early afternoon Telehealth sessions. You deserve support on your journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you, every step of the way. Let’s take that first step together - reach out today.
