I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals who are seeking healing and change. Anxiety, panic, depression, conflict, stress and overwhelm, impact of transitions, OCD, and communication challenges are all areas where I can be most effective working with my patients. My specialty is TEAM-CBT, a form of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I find that using this approach with my clients makes it possible to reach their desired outcome rapidly and effectively and empowers them with methods they can apply to maintain their progress moving forward. Embarking on a journey of self-exploration and self-improvement through the process of therapy is a profound experience. I am honored to have an opportunity to work together with you to help you meet your personal goals for change.

College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, relationship challenges, or adjusting to new responsibilities and life transitions, you don't have to navigate it alone. I work with female college students and young adults who want to better understand themselves, improve their relationships, and feel more confident managing life's challenges. My approach is relational, compassionate, curious, and down-to-earth. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship creates the foundation for meaningful change, and I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, supported, and accepted. I also believe there's room for humor in therapy—healing doesn't have to be serious all the time. Together, we'll explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, increase self-awareness, and develop practical skills to help you manage emotions, cope with stress, and build a life that feels more aligned with your values. My goal is to help you leave therapy with greater confidence, resilience, and tools you can continue using long after our work together.

As a doctoral-prepared, dual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), I provide holistic, evidence-based psychiatric care for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, grief, and major life transitions. My expertise also extends to reproductive psychiatry, where I support individuals navigating pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, perinatal loss, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), perimenopause, and other hormone-related mental health concerns. If you're looking for thoughtful, personalized mental health care that goes beyond symptom management, this is the kind of support I provide. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, gain insight into the factors affecting your well-being, and develop practical tools that support lasting emotional health and resilience. No matter where you are in your mental health journey, you don't have to navigate it alone. Whether you're seeking support for the first time or returning to continue the work, I would be honored to partner with you in building a healthier, more balanced, and fulfilling life. I believe mental health care should meet you exactly where you are, with an approach that's collaborative, integrative, and evidence-based, and a focus on understanding the whole person, not just the symptoms. Together, we'll explore the factors influencing your mental health, including physical health, hormonal changes, sleep, nutrition, stress, relationships, and lifestyle, to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, psychotherapy, and lifestyle strategies for lasting well-being. My goal is to help you reconnect with yourself, build resilience, and create a foundation for lasting change. Working with me, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where you feel safe, heard, respected, and supported. I strive to create a space where you can openly share your experiences, ask questions, and participate in decisions about your care. Sessions are thoughtful, approachable, and tailored to you, as I take the time to understand your unique experiences, values, and goals so you feel empowered to make meaningful, lasting progress. My path to psychiatry began while caring for patients as a certified nurse midwife. Supporting patients through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and reproductive health gave me a deep appreciation for the connection between mental and physical health. Witnessing the profound impact that connection can have on individuals and families inspired me to expand my practice, allowing me to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to a broad range of people while continuing my special interest in reproductive mental health. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through fitness, traveling, watching sports, trying new recipes, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Universe & Me Counseling, LLC
I’m Andrea Perez (she/her/hers), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Charlottesville, Virginia. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and my Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Professional Education from the University of West Florida. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages in a variety of settings, including but not limited to youth residential placements, school-based services, child and family welfare, and outpatient community mental health with adults and children. My work has centered around supporting individuals with a focus on post-traumatic stress, ADHD, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and grief/loss. I have a particular passion for supporting individuals as they navigate key life transitions, especially those in the post-high school phase, where they are exploring career paths, higher education options, and the broader transition into adulthood. I’m deeply passionate about helping my clients, particularly those in the BIPOC* community, find their voice and develop the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges. My approach is rooted in collaboration and strength-building, and I strive to create a supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to move beyond their boundaries and achieve their goals. Outside of work, I love spending time with my dog, whether we’re taking long walks or hiking in the beautiful Virginia outdoors. I also enjoy working on complex LEGO sets and getting creative with crafts—activities that help me unwind and stay grounded. *BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. It's a term that helps acknowledge the unique experiences and challenges faced by people from different racial and ethnic backgrounds, particularly when it comes to systemic inequalities. I use this term to show my commitment to supporting the specific needs of these communities.

Stella Campbell
I am a Qualified Mental Health Professional and LCSW-Supervisee specializing in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, sexuality and gender identity, and life transitions. Over the past five years, I have worked primarily with queer and BIPOC/AAPI young adults, though I am here to support anyone who is ready to begin their healing journey. The patients I’ve had the privilege of working with came to therapy with a shared hope: to feel more in control, to find greater happiness, and to grow into stronger, more resilient versions of themselves. Together, we worked through life transitions, relationship challenges, and the anxiety or depression that was getting in the way of the life they wanted to live. Watching patients reach their goals and move forward confidently, no longer needing therapy because they are truly thriving, is the greatest reward of this work. As a social worker, my practice is rooted in six core principles: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. I believe that compassionate care, anti-racism, and equity are not just ideals but responsibilities – to our field, to society, and most importantly, to you. When we work together, you will never feel alone in your journey. I am fully present and deeply committed to your growth and well-being every step of the way. Because every person is unique, I believe every treatment plan should be too. My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from multiple therapeutic modalities to meet you exactly where you are and address what you need most. I regularly incorporate elements of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), art therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) into my work. One aspect of care I am especially passionate about is helping you understand the neurobiological processes that shape how we experience mental health. When you understand what’s happening in your body and mind, you gain a greater sense of control over your emotions. Patients consistently report that this deeper awareness translates into meaningful, lasting progress toward their goals. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, accepting, and validating space where each appointment is shaped to fit your needs while keeping sight of the larger goals we have set together. I meet you where you are in your journey, offering a secure and supportive environment where you can feel confident sharing your struggles and celebrating your growth. Long before I became a therapist, I was the friend people turned to, the one who listened, supported, and helped others find their footing during hard times. This instinct to help shaped everything that followed. The turning point came when I supported a loved one through a serious mental health crisis. Witnessing firsthand how compassionate, skilled care helped her not just survive but begin to heal, I knew with certainty that becoming a therapist was my calling. That experience deepened my conviction that exceptional mental health care must meet each person exactly where they are. It reinforced my belief that with the right support, people struggling with even the most difficult challenges can do more than get through – they can truly thrive. That commitment is at the heart of everything I bring to my work with you. When I'm not in session, you can find me lost in a sci-fi or fantasy novel, writing creatively, or working through a crossword puzzle. I also love listening to podcasts, taking road trips, and staying active through yoga and kickboxing. Most of all, I cherish time spent with the people (and one very beloved cat named Loki) who make life so full.

Dr. Nadia Locey
My therapeutic style is warm and genuine and I like to use humor when appropriate. I am a big proponent of using therapeutic techniques that have good research evidence demonstrating their effectiveness. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for adolescents and adults. CBT teaches clients coping skills to manage their emotions and behaviors. It also changes clients' emotions by helping them change their thoughts and behaviors. I provide CBT to address the following presenting problems: depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and difficulties adjusting to major life changes. DBT is an adaption of CBT that was developed to help clients with multiple problems in multiple areas who struggle with chronically dysregulated emotions. These clients may also have suicidal behaviors, self-harm behaviors, impulsive behaviors, difficulties in their interpersonal relationships, and/or Borderline Personality Disorder. I also have specialty training in the DBT Prolonged Exposure protocol for individuals with comorbid Borderline Personality Disorder and PTSD. In terms of my education and experience, I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Stony Brook University in 2014. I then participated in my first postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington with Dr. Marsha Linehan, the developer of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Afterwards, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Jacqueline Pistorello at the University of Nevada, Reno, focusing on providing clinical services to college students and conducting research on evidence-based treatments for suicidal behaviors. As a faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, I taught medical students, psychiatry residents, and child psychiatry fellows about psychology, therapeutic techniques, and how to interact with patients. I opened my private practice in 2017 in Reno, Nevada and recently moved to Virginia.
