Therapists for college students near Pittsburgh, PA
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavioral Specialist in PA. After graduating in 2004 from Rosemont College, I began my work in Counseling and Behavioral Therapy. I worked for the top companies servicing clients before I decided to go out on my own. I have my private practice, Canopy Counseling Unlimited in Media, PA. I have extensive work with children, adolescents, individuals, families, blended families, and divorced parents. My counseling strength is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you feel, think, and act. The therapy aims to find practical ways to help you deal with problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. With over 19 years of experience, I have worked with individuals diagnosed with Anxiety(Certified,) Autism (Certified) (both child and adult- with a license in this area), ADHD-(certified,) Bipolar, Depression, Stress Management, Trauma(Certified,) and too many others to list. My license in counseling helps focus on feelings and beliefs while my license in behavioral therapy helps focus on behaviors and environments that impede growth. I use both in my approach. My background in mental health has given me experience in knowing that each person's needs are special and unique and that there are no "cookie-cutter" answers to solve problems. (If that was the case there would be one book and I'd be out of a job.) I believe that therapy should be just as important as seeing your doctor or dentist regularly. With the stress of today, everyone is experiencing some parts of their life that are not what they want them to be. We will find strategies that will help you, I will teach you coping skills that will fit you, and help you process the areas in your life you want to change. You will apply these strategies and be able to see a positive change in your life. I want you to be comfortable coming to see me and feel supported. I come up with lots of ideas to help you on your journey. We will work together to understand the "whys" and build better strategies to improve the areas in your life you want to change. We will look at ways to improve communication with others and develop good self-esteem. I believe that everyone can succeed when they feel supported and not judged. I will meet you where you are and work with you on finding balance. My approach is to help individuals and families bring back and restore the balance that was once there and watch the growth that takes place! The language that I speak is English. Outside of behavioral health care and in my free time, I enjoy building things, remodeling, mission work, snow skiing, travel, spending time at the beach, and of course, time with my family.
Hi! I’m Dr. Ana, a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania with over 10 years of experience helping children, teens, and adults navigate life’s challenges with support, compassion, and practical tools. I currently offer virtual therapy sessions throughout PA and am accepting new clients. Life often moves quickly, bringing highs and lows and everything in between. In the midst of the “busy-ness” and challenges, it can often be hard to pause and take care of ourselves. Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and deepen our understanding of who we are so that we can live with more meaning and purpose. I truly believe that therapy can be helpful for anyone. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood, empowered, and less alone. You don’t have to go through this alone. I’d be honored to support you on your journey. Feel free to reach out with questions or to schedule a consultation!
I founded my practice to create a space for people to feel heard, seen, and to create positive change in their lives. I want mental health care to feel welcoming, accessible, and like a safe holding space to sort it all out. I truly believe we are all out here doing our best, and that every person deserves an opportunity to heal and grow from adversity. We are all flawed works in progress, and that’s perfectly okay. I have had the opportunity to live this; and know what it’s like to be in the other seat. I’m so grateful for the healers in my life (shout out to Rary and Rena!), and find great purpose and privilege in being able to do that for others. I guide clients by fostering space for exploration and curiosity while also integrating actionable practical tools. I specialize in helping people process their trauma, get relief from anxiety and depression, understand and set boundaries, and improve relationship functioning. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, strengths-based, and empathic. I am trained in evidenced based interventions that offer highly effective relief. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) offers Trauma/PTSD treatment in 7-12 sessions. The Gottman Method is an extensively researched backed methodology for treating couples. My goal is to deepen the understanding between couples and provide blueprints for success to handle conflicts. Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) is a treatment modality for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Please don't hesitate to reach out for a free 15 minute consultation.
It takes courage and strength to share your personal struggles with a therapist. My goal is to help assist you in your journey of discovering ways to cope and manage your mental health with respect, kindness, and warmth. There is something truly incredible about a human being living their authentic and complete truth without feeling burdened by mental or emotional blocks. My specialty lies in the treatment of OCD, Anxiety disorders, Depression, & Trauma. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), Prolonged Exposure (PE), & Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). I also provide supervision to other clinicians. I am licensed in NY, CT, NJ, & PA to provide virtual therapy. Reach out to me to form a relationship based on trust, mutual respect, & understanding. I know it can feel difficult to take the first step, and it will be so worth it.
My practice supports students coping with the many challenges of adjustment to college life. I aim to help students achieve their academic/professional and social goals, while remaining true to their identities and interests. Through therapy, I help my clients understand that achievement does not mean sacrificing who you are. Together we focus on clarifying personal goals, identity development, and adjustment to new freedoms and environments. I have special interest in working with first generation, racially/ethnically diverse, LGBTQ+, and immigrant students.
Specializing in the treatment of anxiety and obsessive-compulsive related disorders, I value the importance of utilizing evidence-based treatments to help you live your valued life. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and seek to cultivate this through trust, respect, and empathy. During our work, you’ll learn to utilize practical strategies to help you cope, identify and work though unhelpful thinking patterns, reengage with areas of your life that have been avoided, and improve your overall confidence.
I support students who are used to holding it together for everyone else—but privately struggle with anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, trauma, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others. You might overthink everything, avoid asking for help, or feel exhausted by the pressure to perform academically and socially. My practice offers a warm, steady space to slow down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and build real coping skills—not just quick fixes. I provide trauma-informed therapy using EMDR, partswork, art therapy, and somatic/body-based approaches that help you understand how stress and past experiences affect your body, emotions, and relationships so you can feel more grounded and confident. I accept funding through VCAP (Victim Compensation Assistance Program) which helps cover the cost of 6-12 months of therapy for sexual assault survivors in Pennsylvania (no need to have ever reported assault in order to be eligible to apply). Hello, I'm Dr. Liz. I'm a Spartan alumna, and former long-time East Lansing resident who also used to work at MSU CAPS as an intern! I now live in Pennsylvania where I have a solo practice. I am a member of PsyPact, which means I can offer remote (video) sessions to those in any PsyPact member state (includes Michigan). In light of recent tragic events, I am offering a free crisis session by video (as scheduling permits) to any Michigan State student, faculty, staff, or parent who is within any PsyPact member state. Please email me with any questions or to schedule a free crisis session.

Starting or returning to college can bring up unique challenges—navigating relationships, managing stress, adjusting to new independence, or figuring out who you are and what you want. I work best with students who are thoughtful, curious, and open to exploring their inner world, even if that feels a little intimidating at first. Many of my clients are balancing academics with the ups and downs of friendships, family, dating, and questions about their identity. My practice is LGBTQ-affirming and welcoming to students of all backgrounds. I provide a calm and supportive space where you can slow down, untangle what feels overwhelming, and begin to feel more grounded. Hi, I'm Jennifer. I help my clients feel like themselves again after trauma, specifically sexual trauma or relationship violence. You’ve tried to get past it, forget about it, told yourself it “wasn’t a big deal”, but you’re in pain. Maybe you notice feeling scared and mistrusting of others, having mood swings, or feeling down about yourself. Trauma can take many different forms, so often we don’t realize what we’ve gone through until we unpack it with someone safe. I can be that person for you.
