Therapists for college students near The University of Rochester
Life can be challenging for us all at some point. You are not alone! I have a genuine love for therapy and what it can do for each and every one of us who may find themselves a bit lost at times. I believe in building a genuine relationship through which the real work of therapy can be done in a space that is nonjudgmental and empathetic, while also challenging you to work hard with me to find your balance and peace. I value humor and creating a space where your authentic self is welcome. You are the expert in your life and I would love to have the honor to be part of your journey in reaching your goals for treatment. I work very closely with you to identify and develop a plan together that will meet your needs! I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Seven Challenges, and CARE. In the last 18 years of being in practice, I have provided individual, group, and couples therapy.
As an existential therapist, I consider clients as fellow humans navigating through the hardships of life. I believe therapy serves as a lighthouse, supporting people on the path towards self-discovery, joy, and a fulfilling life.
I am a licensed a Clinical Psychologist whose approach to therapy is collaborative, non-judgmental, direct, and warm. I strive to create a space where individuals can better understand themselves, their emotions, interpersonal relationships and, consequently, live a more fulfilling life. I work with young adults who are experiencing emotional distress (such as anxiety and depression), grief and loss, relationship issues, or going through life changes (for example, dislocation, career decisions, starting college, health issues). I have interest and experience with identity-based work (for example, sexual orientation, acculturation, self-discovery) and women’s health issues. Additionally, I have experience and training in academic mental health settings and enjoy working with college students, graduate students, and medical professionals. I welcome and value working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, races, orientations, and beliefs. The basis of my work emphasizes relationships (including the client-therapist relationship), exploration of how your past experiences influence your present (for example, the present issues bringing you to therapy), and increased connection with yourself and your emotions. When appropriate, I integrate different modalities (for example, psycho-dynamic, client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, dialectical-behavioral, and health psychology) to tailor the treatment to your needs. During our work, I will aim to help you be curious about yourself and support your growth towards healthier self-regulation, self-direction and relationships.

As a licensed clinical social worker I have used my work to focus on the complex needs of women and young people in a time when the world feels overwhelming and it seems that there is never the right or enough time to focus on our true selves. A universal truth is that once we start to make space for ourselves, within ourselves, time becomes more precious. We start to see the value in true self care and taking time and space for ourselves. Together, we will use a solution focused approach to help you feel empowered and move your life in a more positive direction.
I work with young adults and couples who want to deepen self-understanding, improve relationships, heal from trauma, or feel less lonely, anxious, depressed, or angry. Many of my clients are exploring their identities, processing generational wounds, navigating life changes, or navigating spaces where they feel unseen or misunderstood. I offer a collaborative, nonjudgmental space grounded in warmth, humility, curiosity, and compassion. I’m honest and direct, while also patient and gentle—I meet you where you are, and walk with you from there. My approach is anti-racist, immigrant allied, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and trauma-informed. I view people as complex and multifaceted—shaped by family, community, culture, and the systems we move through. And you're a unique individual! Our work will honor your lived experiences and hold space for your strengths, struggles, values, and the cultural and systemic forces impacting your life. I will strive to connect with you human-to-human, honoring your wholeness with care and respect. If you think I'd be a good fit for you, feel welcomed to call, text, or email. I will commit to helping you feel better so that you can meet your goals!

I am trained in EMDR and attend monthly consultation with a certified EMDR consultant. Many people come to me with knowledge or curiosity of stored trauma in the body and its effects. This can look like persistent anxiety, "unexplained" health challenges like autoimmune disease, pelvic pain, abdominal pain and more. Additionally, clients will come to me and say that despite years of talk therapy they still feel stuck and want to explore how EMDR may be helpful for them. EMDR is an 8 phase process that doesn't have a specific timeline; it is catered to your needs and goals and progress is closely monitored throughout.
I believe in working with each individual and family based on their unique needs, resources and approaches to life. Most treatment can be brief and effective with a good relationship as the foundation of change.
I provide individual, couple and family therapy specializing in trauma, relationship conflicts and life transitions.
My history of working in school settings from pre-K through college has shaped my approach to therapy, which is rooted in the belief that counseling is a learning process. From the foundation of a strong client/counselor partnership, clients can build skills and gain understanding to foster better relationships with both themselves and others, while also developing a more intentional and effective process for responding to stressors and challenges. Together, we can collaborate to clarify your goals for counseling and develop an individualized plan that balances support, insight, and skill building. Please visit my website or reach out by phone or email to help you decide if you feel we'd be a good fit.

I'm currently working as a postdoctoral fellow. I earned my doctoral degree in Clinical & School Psychology from Roberts Wesleyan University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Nebraska Mental Health Centers in Lincoln, Nebraska. At this site, I received an extensive generalist training in therapeutic practices and psychological assessments, addressing a wide array of psychopathologies and demographics. I provide therapy services from an integrative perspective, drawing primarily from Person-Centered, Attachment, Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavior (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapies. This means our work together will prioritize creating a safe, empathetic space where your unique experiences are deeply understood and respected. We'll explore how early relationships and patterns might be influencing your present struggles and how to build more secure connections. Additionally, you'll learn practical skills to identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors, manage intense emotions and improve relationships, and cultivate mindfulness, acceptance, and a commitment to living in alignment with your values, even in the face of discomfort. My goal is to tailor our approach to your specific needs, empowering you with both insight and effective strategies for lasting change and a more fulfilling life. My significant experience in community mental health uniquely equips me to address anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, behavioral issues, parenting training, severe and persistent mental illness, and trauma across diverse child, adolescent, and adult populations. My background in the school setting further allows me to provide comprehensive wrap-around services for children and families. Last, I have done extensive research on minority stress, the impact it has on mental health in the LGBTQ+ community, and subsequent affirmative evidence-based treatments. My training has also prepared me to provide comprehensive diagnostic and psychoeducational evaluations. This helps clients gain diagnostic clarification and provides a direction for treatment services.

Hey there! Welcome to taking the first step on your path to emotional wellness. I look forward to supporting you. As a former college student myself, I understand the stressors and expectations that come with pursuing a higher education. It can be difficult to navigate various obligations while still trying to stay afloat, both mentally and physically. I’m passionate about empowering my clients to overcome and work through their struggles with trauma, imposter syndrome, life stressors and transitions, anxiety, grief, depression, self-doubt/esteem, mood instability, and interpersonal relationships. I like using creative and hands-on techniques during sessions. I have a special interest in young adults, college students, marginalized and BIPOC individuals, and minorities and immigrant populations. I exclusively offer telehealth and have open availability that aligns with the college lifestyle. I use various therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, bibliotherapy, culturally sensitive and strength-based interventions, and ARC. You desire to feel like you’re flourishing rather than just getting by. There’s power in vulnerability. We can work together on finding those barriers, processing uncomfortable feelings and experiences and building self-regulatory skills to thrive. Thank you for prioritizing yourself. Contact me for a free 15min consultation to see if we're a good fit for one another!
I enjoy working with emerging adults in college on any issues related to managing stress, anxiety, depression or trauma/loss. I use a variety of evidence based techniques for recovery and healing.
