Therapists for college students near The Gate District, St. Louis, MO
I believe in the strengths of the clients who come to me for therapy; I want them to experience successes along the way and find belonging in the spaces they inhabit, whether those are current spaces or new ones they create. Key to those successes are elements of confidence-building, personal structure, reflection, and a sense of belonging. Q. Why are you interested to be listed on Thriving Campus? A. In addition to being a licensed psychotherapist I've also been an adjunct professor at a local university. Universities present unique challenges to students and to faculty. I enjoy academia, and I find students in higher education to have specific issues of development along the transition to independent adulthood. I enjoy being part of students' journeys - undergraduates, graduates, post-graduates - throughout the stages of making meaning through the combined elements of social environments, knowledge-building, and new experiences. Supporting faculty who are navigating the pressures to excel on a daily basis is also an important part of my work. Q. What should someone know about working with you? A. I believe in the strengths of the clients who come to me for therapy; I want them to experience successes along the way and find belonging in the spaces they inhabit, whether those are current spaces or new ones they create. I believe that laughter is important. I provide solid support for clients to do the work of change. I understand the workings of oppression related to skin color, sex, gender identity, religion, age, and ability. Therefore, I can help clients identify these mechanisms at work in their lives. Q. Have you done any research-based work that you found particularly exciting? How does it inform your practice today? A. My PhD was focused on human learning, gender identity, and social justice. I learned about the significance of personal belongings as representations of identity and as signs of support and love from others. What I learned through this research informs my work with all areas of oppression brought to the session by a client. Q. How do you suggest that clients maximize the benefits of teletherapy? A. Teletherapy comes with a few built-in advantages, such as saving on transportation costs and parking fees and eliminating travel time. To fully benefit from our time together, clients should plan to be alone in a quiet space that is free of distractions. Sessions should be scheduled to occur when there is the least amount of stress for the client just before and just after the session. This will maximize the ability to prepare for the session and absorb what happened during the session. Preparation might include a few minutes of breathing and identification of top-of-mind topics for the upcoming session. Post-session should include making quick notes of key takeaways from the conversation followed by breathing to settle back into the rhythm of that specific time of day. Core concept: You are welcome here.
I work with students navigating the many pressures that come with college and graduate school — whether that’s anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship stress, academic performance concerns, or uncertainty about the future. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, unmotivated, or simply tired of trying to manage everything on your own. Having gone through both undergraduate and graduate training myself, I understand how intense these seasons can feel — the pressure to succeed, to meet expectations, and to figure out what comes next. Reaching out for support isn’t always easy, especially when you’re used to pushing through. My approach is structured, practical, and collaborative. We’ll talk through what’s weighing on you, but we’ll also focus on building tools you can use outside of session. My goal is for you to leave therapy feeling clearer, more grounded, and more confident in your ability to handle what’s in front of you.

With over 20 years of experience, Stacy seamlessly blends the rich traditions of therapy with innovative techniques. As a Clinical Social Worker, her advanced credentials in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Mental Emotional Release® (MER), and Hypnosis mark her as a leading Change Navigator™, especially for college students navigating significant life transitions. Stacy holds a powerful belief: each individual, especially during their transformative college years, has the capability to 'reprogram' their mind, much like software updates. This conviction, shaped by countless student interactions, showcases the adaptability and resilience inherent in young adults. Stacy delves deep, identifying old mindsets and behaviors, which often take root during early years, and can impact academic performance and emotional wellbeing. Her approach is a harmonious fusion of science and empathy. By combining the communication skills of NLP, the emotional release of MER, and the transformative states of Hypnosis, Stacy offers students a holistic therapeutic journey. While she employs time-tested methods, she also ensures her strategies remain current and relatable. Many of the students Stacy connects with share common experiences: they are navigating the challenges of young adulthood, adjusting to college life, and aiming to define their future paths. She sees therapy, coaching, and consulting as interlinked, allowing her to tailor her interventions to each student's unique story. Stacy believes in collaboration; students set their course, and she serves as their trusted guide. Together, they work to ensure that every student embarks on a journey of discovery, resilience, and positive transformation.

I help individuals enhance their mental health. My approach is based on the premise that nutrition, physical activity, and how we recover are foundational to our well-being. We will optimize your life with thoughtful prescriptions, psychotherapy, nutritional and supplement counseling, and prescriptive exercise.
I became a therapist so that others may know that they are not alone. I want every person who enters my room to know that I am willing to walk with them in their journey. Our sessions are a place to feel fully seen, welcomed, and accepted. I want to sit with you wherever you may find yourself in life.
I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
I work best with students who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure about what comes next. You might be dealing with constant stress or anxiety, overthinking decisions, or feeling unsure about your direction in school, relationships, or life. I also support students who are navigating relationship challenges, struggling to communicate their needs, or finding themselves caught in patterns like people-pleasing or self-doubt. If you’re someone who wants more clarity, confidence, and a better understanding of yourself, we’ll likely be a good fit. In our work together, I focus on helping you sort through what’s going on, make sense of your thoughts and emotions, and move toward decisions that feel right for you. My approach is practical, supportive, and goal-oriented—so you can start feeling more grounded and confident in your day-to-day life.
I endeavor to create a context of genuine connection and understanding, where we can explore your unique experience and work towards a more fulfilled life. Together, we can examine your values, beliefs, and patterns, and find ways to align them with your deepest desires. My approach is collaborative, empathetic, and rooted in a belief in your innate resilience and potential. I hope to help you develop greater acceptance of yourself and find meaning in your position in life. My approach blends humanistic values with evidence-based approaches, including EMDR when appropriate. Sometimes this means excavating traumas, to help make it possible to work with and to integrate into a whole narrative conducive to your own goals. Together, we'll flesh out your story and work to transform sadness or pain into peace and purpose.
We are a private practice with over 30 clinicians in our group and we work hard to find someone who is a good fit for you! We have men and women in our practice so if you have a preference, feel free to say so. CCA does have a couple of counselors who currently come to Wash U and meet with students on campus. We also have counselors who are willing to meet in person or virtually. Session fees vary by clinician. Graduate student practitioners range from $45/session to $90/session. Provisionally licensed and licensed clinicians range from $90 to $225 per session.
I am a licensed professional counselor with 17 years of experience. Way back then, I believe I was born curious. At any given time, I find myself pondering the 'why' of something. This curiosity led me to want to understand why people do the things they do and why they think the things they think. It guided me to a career I love: being a therapist. In the profession I've chosen, my specialties are couples and trauma. I also employ a compassionate yet evidence-based approach to help you achieve the goals that matter most to you. My clients say I am easy to talk to, and my sense of humor makes therapy a little easier during the 'hard' moments. I understand that the problems you bring to me are significant to you, and I will treat them with the importance they deserve. I honor that you are ready to explore what healing might feel like. We will go at your pace because what matters to you matters to me.

Designed to meet the needs of those who require more than weekly therapy, our program combines curated group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy into personalized treatment programs.
