After starting a career in higher education, I realized that I wanted more opportunities to spend time with students 1:1 and support them through all of the life changes that occur throughout college: deciding on a major, finding new friends, separating from family, changing majors, figuring out how to adult, starting a career, excelling in classes that only become more rigorous, and maybe changing majors again. All of this in addition to finding time for yourself becomes quite difficult! As a psychotherapist, I work with students experiencing depression and anxiety as they navigate the challenges and stressors that come with being in college. Many have also had difficult or traumatic experiences while growing up, and are ready to figure out how to talk about them. Through weekly appointments, we'll build a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, and quickly develop an understanding of your goals for therapy. For some, this will mean our work together is brief. For others, we'll settle into a long-term working relationship that will see you through the ups and downs over the next few years. I primarily use a psychodynamic approach in therapy, which means we'll explore your inner thoughts and feelings to understand how they affect your behaviors and relationships. I find that this approach helps you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, including how you might get in your own way from time to time and what you might want to do differently. Always, the goal is to support you as you (re)discover your strengths and learn to accept yourself as human, making both life and college a little easier to navigate moving forward. Please note: I'm licensed to see individuals in Florida, Illinois, and Michigan.

Are you feeling weary, inadequate or emotionally exhausted? Have you struggled to manage anxiety and you're ready for a change? I would love to partner with you. I grew up on my family's asparagus farm in West Michigan. I'm a proud MSU alum and began my career teaching high school before pursuing my masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I continued my training at the Chicago Area Christian Training Consortium to further integrate my faith and clinical work, and I continue to enjoy the integration of spirituality and psychology as clients desire in therapy. I've worked in the mental health field since 2006 and feel passionate about aligning with clients ready to seek change, heal wounds and foster ongoing curiosity and insight in their lives. Perhaps you feel a nudge to seek your full potential, experience lasting transformation and find fulfillment in your most cherished relationships. I love to use humor, my style is very relational and I value a high standard of professionalism, ethics and confidentiality in my work. I'd be happy to provide a 15 minute phone consultation to answer any questions and help determine our mutual fit.

She utilizes a cognitive behavioral approach, though has become more attune to hybrid interventions that best suit individual needs. She has been a Certified Brain Injury Specialist for several years and continues to strive towards serving this population.

Accepting the journey, we've been on and the need for change can feel overwhelming. Often therapy is seen as a one-sided conversation, let's change that narrative together. As your therapist, it is important to me to create a relationship where you feel safe and supported. We can explore what acceptance, healing, and growth means to you and create a plan to achieve those goals. I am passionate about working with teens and adults experiencing life transitions, anxiety, depression, women's mental health, PTSD, and identity development. I offer engaging, honest conversation to encourage accountability towards growth and acceptance. I believe that you have the capacity for growth when you feel seen, heard, and respected. Bring your emotional support water bottle or coffee and let's get to work on creating the best version of yourself.

College can feel overwhelming, like a whirlwind of pressure, uncertainty, and loneliness. Between the constant juggling of assignments, social expectations, and worry about the future, it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly on edge. Even small decisions feel like they’re too much to handle. Relationships can become confusing and draining, leaving you questioning your worth or feeling misunderstood. It’s exhausting, and sometimes it feels like no one truly understands the depth of what you're going through. But you're not alone, and there is a way through this. I’m here to help you find your way back to a place of calm and confidence. We’ll explore what’s been weighing on you, whether it’s the thoughts that keeps you up at night, the uncertainty about who you are or where you’re headed, or the people in your life that leave you feeling drained or disconnected. We’ll work to uncover the deeper feelings and thoughts that drive these struggles, so you can learn to manage them, feel more at ease, and make choices that reflect your true self. I offer in-person and virtual sessions. Clients who work with me appreciate my calm, down-to-earth approach. Feel free to reach out for a quick consultation phone call too.

From our practice website: "We understand that going to see a therapist can be a very difficult decision. We are committed to ensuring our clients are treated with the utmost respect and sensitivity. Initially, we work with the the client to gain an understanding of their concerns. From there, we create and implement a treatment plan geared to the client (or families) goals. We actively and continuously seek feedback to make sure that our clients are getting their needs met. Research has consistently demonstrated that the quality of the relationship between a therapist and their client is at the core of whether therapy will be successful. Using our skills and experiences, we work to create a safe and trusting environment to meet your goals. We use a strength-based approach in working with our clients. Often, we build upon these strengths to create interventions that will help. We utilize evidenced based treatments whenever possible. This means the approaches we use are well researched and found to be helpful in addressing the presenting challenges. Our team continues to receive training and professional development as we believe that as therapists we are never done learning. When we work with children and teens, we believe that parents are the expert. We believe parental involvement is a critical component of the treatment. Our approach is to create a “team environment” that includes the child, family, school (when necessary), physician, and therapist to provide the optimal level of support to address whatever problems the child is experiencing. Since the child is the most important person in this effort, he or she becomes the “captain” of this team. We will always address your child respectfully and in a developmentally appropriate manor. We know and appreciate that you are entrusting us with you or a family member’s care. We will do everything we can to make our work together a helpful and enriching experience."

Coming to therapy for the first time can feel daunting. We all crave familiarity, so stepping into growth often brings discomfort—but that discomfort can serve as a catalyst for transformation. As a therapist, I believe in meeting you exactly where you are, offering support through the process of self-discovery. I offer a warm, welcoming space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly and without judgment. I view my role as a collaborative partner in helping you untangle what feels overwhelming, while honoring that you are the expert in your own life. My approach to therapy is intuitive, curious, and deeply client-centered. I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), tailoring techniques to best address each individual’s needs. I believe that strong therapeutic relationships are built on empathy, patience, and authenticity. As we work together, I’ll offer a balance of support and challenge, helping you move toward the changes you’re seeking at a pace that feels right for you.

My hope is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where all parts of you are welcome. College is a time of big changes, and it’s normal to feel stressed, anxious, or unsure about how to handle everything. I offer a space where you can talk openly about what’s going on, whether it’s academic pressure, relationships, or figuring out your next steps. I use a variety of approaches based on your needs, with a focus on Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic work, and EMDR. I utilize these methods because they support the whole mind-body connection, allowing history that has been stored in the nervous system to be released. Together we can help make sense of the pieces of your life that have become overwhelming and give you tools to handle life with more confidence.
