Life sometimes leaves us feeling broken, damaged, and disconnected from our true selves. Maybe you’re in survival mode, fighting just to stay above water. Maybe things feel so overwhelming that you don’t even know what you feel half the time. But you’re ready to make a change. You’re ready to better manage difficult emotions, thoughts, and experiences. You’re ready for growth. Most of all, you’re ready to reconnect…with others, the world around you, and yourself. I want to help you get there. I work with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and major life transitions like the journey to parenthood or a new career. Therapy sessions with me are a mix of talking, reflection, and practical exercises. We’ll spend time exploring potential roots of your patterns while also focusing on how to create meaningful change in the present. Together, we'll create a nonjudgmental space for you to explore your emotions, develop healthier coping strategies, and work towards meaningful personal growth. I would be honored to help you explore how therapy can support you on your journey.

Asking for help can feel like failure. But it’s actually the smartest thing you can do. You’re at a rigorous university. You’re surrounded by smart, accomplished people. Everyone seems to have it together: classes, social life, and future plans despite all the pressure. Except you’re in your room at 2 AM and your anxiety is spiraling. Or you’re making a decision that feels impossibly huge and you have no idea which way to turn. Or you’re just… exhausted. The problem isn’t that you’re not capable. The problem is you’re trying to figure out who you actually are while everyone expects you to have it all figured out. That’s where I come in. I’m Debbie Miller, a therapist who gets college students. I spent 25 years in Ann Arbor and worked extensively with University of Michigan students. I know the academic pressure, the social dynamics, the Greek life culture, the competitive environment. I still work with Michigan students via telehealth, and I genuinely understand what it’s like to be where you are. I work with students who feel overwhelmed by pressure, confused about their future, struggling with anxiety or depression, or navigating major transitions. Students who know something needs to shift but aren’t sure how. Here’s the approach: We work together to help you become an expert on yourself. We’re a team. My job isn’t to tell you what to do, it’s to ask the right questions so you hear your own voice clearly. To challenge you on beliefs that hold you back. To help you figure out what actually matters to you (not what you think should matter). This isn’t always comfortable, but discomfort is usually a sign that real growth is happening. Your pace, your direction. That’s the deal. Ready to talk? Call or email me to schedule your free consultation.

We each possess unique strengths and values that shape who we are. As your therapist, my goal is to help you access those strengths to navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion. With a background in neuroscience and 8 years of clinical experience, I work with adolescents through older adults and have supported those affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and Functional Neurological Disorder. I also focus on relationships, women’s health, academic distress, and queer mental health. I strive to create a warm, affirming space where clients feel seen and understood in the fullness of their identity. I tailor therapy to each client’s unique story, needs, and goals. Grounded in neuroscience, my approach is eclectic and client-centered. I draw from ACT, Narrative Therapy, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, IFS, feminist theory, and trauma-informed somatic practices. Together, we explore values, identity, internal parts, and the mind-body connection. My role is to walk alongside you as a collaborator and supporter. When Life Doesn’t Go According to Plan - THERAPY FOR LIFE AFTER LOSS, TRAUMA, & PROFOUND CHANGE You may be thinking, "This is not the life I ordered." Many of my clients once had a clear sense of where life was headed. Then loss, trauma, or unexpected change altered the path. They lost a person, a future, a sense of safety, a version of themselves, or the life they thought they would have. Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, stuck between versions of their life, or exhausted from trying to “move on” from something that still deeply impacts them. This work isn't about finding a bright side. It's about making space for what happened, understanding who you are now, and learning how to live in a life that no longer resembles what you expected. My practice focuses on grief, trauma, traumatic grief, reproductive trauma and loss, relationship challenges, family-of-origin issues, self-esteem, identity shifts, and major life transitions. I work with individuals, couples, and families ages 15 and older.

I identify as a Togolese immigrant, daughter, sister, fur-mom, and wife in an interracial marriage. These identities influence how I show up as a therapist and constantly evolve each day. The challenges I have faced have given me both the insight and desire to work with individuals, couples, and families through their hurdles and to help them find what is and isn’t their story. I believe in the idea of assisting individuals, couples & families of different backgrounds to find their path instead of feeling stuck and tied down to societal expectations or their past maladaptive patterns. Due to the unique makeup of our world, I use an integrative approach with my clients; this allows me to use modalities that best suit the need of my clients. I value providing warmth, kindness, empathy, and directness when needed. I hope this little bio reflects my passion for working with humans of all different backgrounds and the depth of sacredness I hold for being a part of your stories.
College and early adulthood can be a mix of excitement, stress, and uncertainty. You’re making big choices about your future, managing relationships, navigating independence, and trying to stay mentally clear and emotionally balanced. Therapy can help you make sense of all of it—and give you the tools to move forward with clarity and confidence. I’m a licensed therapist in Colorado with over 30 years of experience working with young adults. I help people who feel overwhelmed, stressed, stuck, or unsure of who they are or where they’re headed. I also support clients in breaking free from unhealthy or addictive patterns—whether that’s substances, social media, gaming, or other habits that have started to take over. My approach is real, down-to-earth, and supportive. I’ll help you understand what’s going on emotionally, mentally, physically, and in your relationships—and together we’ll work on practical strategies for change. Some sessions will be about insight and reflection, others will focus on action and new tools. You set the pace, and I help you get where you want to go. If you’re in this stage of life and want support that meets you where you are, I’d be honored to work with you.
I love helping college students navigate the challenges of this phase of life which can be both exciting and scary. I have been in practice for 25+ years and believe in helping young adults develop the best version of themselves. I have experience treating anxiety, depression, grief, self esteem issues, relationship challenges, and general life transitions. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy, in addition to mindfulness practices. I also offer EMDR as a treatment modality when appropriate. My experience as a parent to a current college student and a recent grad has helped me appreciate the nuances of this phase of life from a different perspective. I am a solo practitioner in Wheat Ridge and am currently offering both in person and telehealth appointments. I accept Kaiser and Humana insurance in addition to private pay.

I have experience working with individuals who experience anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, and other mental health concerns. Whether you are dealing with a specific challenge, processing a difficult experience, or simply looking for ways to improve your emotional well-being, art therapy can be a supportive space to explore and grow. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or would like to connect!
Are you committed to making changes but aren't sure where to start? Taking that first step can be difficult. Let's do it together. As a trauma-focused clinician I believe to heal we must fully understand and process our experiences in a safe space. If you're looking to develop skills, process and heal, I'm here for you. For couples looking to process, heal and enhance communication. I have experience with restorative justice and offer support in conflict dialogue between family, friends and colleagues. As a therapist I create a safe, trauma-informed space with validation, honesty and incorporating gentle humor. With a decade+ working with folx with marginalized identities, young adults who have witnessed trauma, people who have experienced crime, (esp relationship and sexual violence) I understand the systems, agencies and how to connect you. I incorporate several modalities to heal symptoms of trauma. You are dynamic, and your therapy should be too! If you are struggling with mental health concerns, please know you are not alone. I see Colorado clients virtually and in-person in Denver. I would love to be part of your therapeutic and healing journey.
