Welcome! I’m Heather, a Licensed Professional Counselor and board-approved clinical supervisor, and I’m dedicated to providing thoughtful, client-centered care and professional guidance. If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, burnt out, or stuck in an overthinking spiral, you’re not alone. Many teens and young adults feel pressure to keep up with school, work, relationships, and expectations, while quietly struggling with motivation, confidence, and emotional exhaustion. I enjoy working with Gen Z clients navigating anxiety, ADHD, depression, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and stress related to school or life transitions. My style is highly relational and collaborative, offering a supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all in therapy. Stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm don’t just affect your thoughts, they often show up in your body too, like tension, fatigue, racing thoughts, or feeling disconnected or stuck. Together, we’ll help your nervous system feel safer and calmer so you can move out of survival mode and handle life with more ease. When you're ready, I'm here to support you. Additionally, I'm passionate about supporting individuals and their families affected by disabilities or rare diagnoses. Outside of work, I dedicate time to raising awareness and advocating for disabilities, rare disorders, neurodiversity, and inclusivity, while also helping others navigate community resources and access the additional support they may need.
I am especially passionate about helping people discover their authentic selves! I like to work with clients when they are grappling with developmental issues and life transitions such as adjusting to college, adulthood, mid or older life. Rather than pathologizing behaviors or emotions, I like to help clients figure out what their thoughts, actions and feelings are trying to help them discover about themselves. Together, through a collaborative process, we'll help you thrive and live your best life!

Focused Solutions therapists use a wide variety of tools to help you manage depression, anxiety, substance misuse, trauma/abuse, learning disabilities, and more. Our therapists are focused on helping you develop strategies to build strong relationships of all kinds, uncover your identity, and balance the challenges that come up throughout life.
My goal is to create a warm and welcoming space where you can lean into self-discovery and growth. The human experience is a complicated one, but you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, stressed, having relationship struggles, or are simply in a new phase of life I can help you navigate these obstacles. I believe using a holistic approach is pivotal to the therapeutic process. Past experiences may be at the root of current behaviors and patterns. Let’s navigate the past together to better understand and empower your present self. To benefit from the therapeutic process I believe consistency, curiosity, and compassion are key. Consistently showing up for yourself by tending to your head and heart is imperative to the growth. Being curious about how you operate as a human sets the stage for autonomy in life. Compassion for your past and present self can lead to long-term improvements. I provide integrative therapy that combines evidence-based approaches such as attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy to meet your individualized needs.

MySpectrum: A Practice, Not a Platform With the onset of COVID-19 and the booming world of virtual options for many services, including therapy, it is hard to tell what’s behind the scenes. You might see advertisements and information about various telehealth services, many that look inviting. You might even choose one of these options and find that the process is smooth to get you scheduled. It could even be that you are connected with a Therapist who fits you like a glove. That would be ideal. But, that might not be reality. Maybe you have a complex diagnosis or you don’t even know what diagnosis you might have. Maybe you aren’t seeking therapy because of a diagnosis, but moreso because you are having a hard time and you don’t know why. Trying to articulate what might bring you to therapy can be a daunting task, one that might require a bit of hand-holding. Or, at least a bit of patience and understanding. At MySpectrum, one of the attributes that makes us different from other companies that offer an extensive telehealth service is that we are people too. We use technology to help us streamline processes, to organize information, and to make certain aspects of your journey more user friendly. We do this so that we can spend more time with those who need our time. We recognize that you might need a human touch in your path to wellness and this can’t be replaced with technology. We have an administrative team who works out of our home office in North Chesterfield, Virginia. They are actively involved in the client experience and are available to be your navigator through the process, should you need it. The people who make up the administrative team have names and faces, which can be found on our website here. Supporting and overseeing the operations and administrative functions of MySpectrum are leaders with backgrounds in mental health services. Our Operations Specialist provided mental health care for over a dozen years and our Director is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with almost 20 years of experience. While we might have certain experiences with technology, we also have the same (or more) experiences actually providing the services we offer. Many telehealth driven companies are led by those with backgrounds in technology who are good at what they do. They focus on the tech aspects of the service. We focus on helping people. Because that is what we do. MySpectrum believes in serving through telehealth via our Teletherapy service. We believe that this offers more people the opportunity to receive the help they need without the added strains that might come into play with needing to go to an office for therapy. You don’t have to set aside time to travel, you don’t need to pay for gas, you don’t need to brave the weather, and you don’t need to worry about changing out of your comfy clothes. You can see your Therapist in a setting that is comfortable for you. You can use our HIPPA secure telehealth platform and decide where you have your session. MySpectrum has clients who live all over the Commonwealth of Virginia, and our Therapists do too. Through Teletherapy, we are able to connect with others on a broader scale. Not because we want to be a huge tech company like those in Silicon Valley, but because we want to be the go-to place for mental health and wellness care. For Virginia and beyond.

Since 2017, Circle of Wellness (COW), has provided services to various individuals and families dealing with difficult life transitions that may have prohibited their ability to live a happy and prosperous life. COW cultivates a safe space, where diversity and inclusion are valued. We pride ourself on providing quality care and prioritizing the needs of patients that are served. Hence, why a free 15 minute phone consultation is offered to individuals interested in receiving therapy services. This is a great way to ensure the patient is matched with the therapist that best meets their needs. Research shows that the most important aspect of a successful therapeutic relationship is the connection between the patient and the therapist. As with any relationship, therapy works best when there is trust, mutual respect, and a sense of connection. Our goal as a practice, is to help people get through the lousy times, not by removing the garbage, but by walking with them so they can see it is survivable. Each therapist at COW, has a unique style. Our therapists, have previously worked in various settings to include: community based mental health programs for adults and children, in-patient psychiatric hospitals, therapeutic group homes, corrections and community corrections, and geriatric settings. The combined experience of therapists at COW, makes this practice an eclectic group of individuals who can work with a wide variety of populations.
As a clinical psychologist I am eager to work with people who are ready to figure out why they are stuck and create a clear plan to make meaningful changes in their lives. I have three areas of expertise in my work. I help people who are feeling overwhelmed with and paralyzed by anxiety symptoms and depression symptoms reclaim their life and create more peace and happiness. I do this by partnering with clients to provide private, specialized, and personalized Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based therapies for anxiety and depression. I am passionate about working with LGBTQ+ people in therapy to create an affirming, therapeutic space for working on specific LGBTQ+ concerns or on general mental health concerns, such as anxiety or depression. Finally, I have many years of experience helping transgender adults through the processes of developing a healthy identity as a trans person and transitioning (should that be the path chosen). I’m in the business of transformation. Through therapy, I will join you in the process of moving from frustration, anxiety, depression, and hopelessness to having a clear plan for creating a happier and better life. Regardless of the reason you are seeking therapy, together we will build upon your strengths and teach you new ways of living so you can have the best life possible.
