Inside all the suffering you are experiencing at this time, you know who you are at heart. I want to help you work with unhealthy thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and return to yourself, a self that honors your core values. I am a compassionate therapist who provides goal-oriented therapy to adults dealing with anxiety, social anxiety disorder, depression, panic attacks, contamination and disgust OCD, trauma, complex family dynamics, and those working on long-term recovery from alcohol use disorder. Therapy should be goal-oriented and energizing! I am familiar with the most up-to-date therapy techniques from prior work in the Mass General Brigham healthcare system in Boston and training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, utilizing strategies from CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT, ACT, and ERP (exposure and response prevention). I work with clients who are in Washington, DC, Massachusetts, and Virginia as I am licensed in all three locations and have lived and worked in all three. I look forward to supporting you on your journey! Please be aware that for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance I am only in network in Virginia.

Hi, I’m so glad you’re here, because you deserve support. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck in old patterns, or exhausted by your relationship with food, movement, or your body, you’re not alone. There is hope for healing and a way to feel more like yourself again. I’m a resident in counseling based in Charlottesville, VA, passionate about walking alongside college students and young adults navigating eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, body image concerns, and life transitions. My approach to therapy is relational, holistic, trauma-informed, and aligned with Health at Every Size (HAES). This means that together, we’ll explore your story at your pace with curiosity, compassion, and safety, to help you feel seen, grounded, and whole. I also offer EMDR therapy, a trauma-informed approach that helps your mind and body process painful experiences and find relief. My background as a mother/baby nurse, cross-country coach, and my own recovery journey give me deep empathy for the challenges my clients face. As a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), I also support clients in healing their relationship with exercise, shifting from punishment or perfectionism toward connection, strength, and joy, and can incorporate that into therapy if desired. If you prefer movement in your sessions, I offer walk-and-talk therapy as an option for those who find it easier to process while moving outdoors. For anyone who would find it beneficial, I offer Christian faith-based integration from a compassionate, grace-centered perspective, exploring how your beliefs and values can support your healing journey. Whether we meet in person in Charlottesville, virtually through telehealth, or outdoors on a walk, you’re welcome to come just as you are. Some days we might laugh; other days we’ll hold space for hard things (because both are part of healing). All backgrounds and beliefs are welcome here. You matter. Your story matters.

I get it. It you're going through a lot each day, feeling like you have to be perfect at everything you try and always needing to make sure everyone else is happy. This can leave you feeling totally worn out, like you're constantly running on empty, and still that nagging feeling of "never enough" just won't go away. Maybe you're carrying worries and stress around with you all the time, and perhaps some tough things from the past are making things even harder. Please know that I see how much you're dealing with, and I'm here to help you find a way through this. Together, we can gently work on these patterns so you can start feeling less pressured and more truly content in your life. I focus specifically on helping people who struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, and that "never enough" feeling, along with related stress and anxiety. I understand how these issues connect for you. Clients often choose me because they feel truly understood and see a clear path towards lasting relief, not just quick fixes. Imagine finding a calm and comfortable space in your own home for our sessions. It will feel like a private conversation in a calm and comfortable space. We'll gently explore those habits of trying to be perfect and always saying "yes," understanding where they came from and how they affect you now. I'll listen with a warm and open heart, creating a safe space for you to share without judgment, all from the comfort of your surroundings. Together, we'll learn to set healthy boundaries, be kinder to yourself, and truly believe in your worth, right from where you feel most at ease. You'll gain simple ways to handle stress and worries. As we connect, you'll hopefully feel that pressure to be perfect ease, find it easier to say "no," and feel more calm and present in your day, leading to more energy and peace within yourself. For our sessions, imagine a calm and comfortable space around your school or in your dorm where you can truly feel safe and open up. Building trust is really important here; I want you to feel completely yourself, knowing I'm listening with genuine understanding and without judgment. That said, don’t think that I’m only here to provide the non-judgmental listening, I will give healthy pushbacks and help challenge those unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. Together, we'll explore the issues that have been holding you back, understanding their roots and their impact. As partners, we'll work on setting healthy boundaries, cultivating self-compassion, and recognizing your inherent worth, empowering you with practical tools to handle stress and worries as you move towards a life with less pressure, more genuine connection, and a deeper sense of your own "enoughness."

Thanks for finding my page! I'm admired by your courage to take this next step. I typically work with young adults and college students experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, questioning where their life is headed, etc. Whatever it is, I'm here for you. While my approach depends greatly on what's going on in your world, I typically utilize aspects of CBT, mindfulness, and psychodynamic theory in my work. I am also an MSPE (Mindful Sport Performance Enhancement) trained instructor and enjoy working with athletes. I'm currently being trained in EMDR by the Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy, and trained in DBT as well. Outside of my work as a psychotherapist, I work as an adjunct professor at George Mason University in their School of Social Work, and previously coached soccer for seven years. Please feel free to reach out for a free phone consultation - I look forward to working with you!

As a Dual Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC), I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and OCD for individuals ages 18 and up. A special passion of mine is working with young adults, a stage of life that brings unique pressures and opportunities for growth. Whatever brings you here, you can count on me to show up as a trusted, genuine partner in your care. My focus is on helping you navigate life's challenges while working toward your optimal health and wellness. Building a real relationship with you isn't just something I value — it's central to everything I do. When we work together, you can expect a space that is professional yet relaxed, one where you feel comfortable being yourself. Drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the power of genuine connection, I tailor care specifically to you, so you feel both supported and empowered to take an active role in your own healing. At all times, my approach is patient-centered, collaborative, and evidence-based. At the heart of it is a therapeutic environment built on trust, openness, and a rapport that grows stronger over time. Your care should feel like yours, and that's exactly what we'll create together. My path to mental health care has been one of purpose and evolution. It began while obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2003, when I pursued psychology electives to earn a minor. After graduating, I relocated from Pennsylvania to Virginia to build my nursing career, spending more than thirteen years specializing in emergency medicine. In the ED, I encountered patients in the depths of mental health crises, individuals facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Those experiences deepened my commitment to mental health and ultimately shaped the practitioner I've become. From there, I earned my Master's Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and spent the following five years in practice before returning to school to earn my Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification. Today, I bring eighteen years of experience in the medical field, a breadth of clinical perspective that informs how I see and care for each person who walks through my door. Life outside of work keeps me grounded and energized. My rescue pup, a spirited 13-year-old, is my constant companion and favorite source of joy. At home, you'll find me tending to my plants, working on garden projects, or knee-deep in a DIY home improvement. There's also a small cooking operation happening in my kitchen: homemade kombucha, hot sauce, pickles, dried herbs, and whatever else sparks curiosity. A not-so-secret passion of mine is organizing — it genuinely brings me peace. And when it comes to staying physically and mentally strong, I love lifting weights and pushing myself at Orange Theory. Balance, growth, and a little creativity in everything is how I aim to live, and it's the same spirit I bring to my work with you.

Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. You might worry if you will be accepted for who you are, or be able to trust them with your story without feeling judged. These are real concerns, and reaching out takes courage. I’m here to offer a safe, LGBTQ+-affirming space where you can feel heard, supported, and free to be yourself. My specialty centers on individual therapy with adults and adolescents, ages 16 and up, including in-person and telehealth sessions. I also have extensive experience supporting teens and adults navigating coping with ADHD, mood and anxiety issues, and pet loss. Together, we’ll explore the challenges you're facing, identify what matters most to you, and create a path toward healing and growth. Your journey truly matters to me, and I would be honored to support you along the way. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a session, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here and look forward to the opportunity to work together. I take a warm and collaborative approach grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and drawing from Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to create a safe and evidence-based space to work toward meaningful change. Goal setting, challenging negative thoughts and beliefs, motivation to change, relaxation, grounding, and mindfulness are just some of the tools I teach to help you cope with anxiety, depression, and feeling overwhelmed. Before becoming a licensed professional counselor, I was a news features writer for weekly publications. Interviewing people from different backgrounds, each with a story to tell, helped to develop my listening skills. Similarly, working as contact tracer during the COVID-19 pandemic offered an experience that deepened my empathy and commitment to helping others. I incorporate these unique perspectives into my practice now, ensuring openness and authenticity in every session, which helps me be an effective and supportive collaborator at all times. When I’m not in session, I’m most often enjoying my hobbies and passions, including knitting, cats, and reading, especially mysteries and psychological thrillers.
