My background is working with college and graduate/medical student populations. I specialize in relationships and attachment issues, family problems, depression, anxiety, grief, academic stress, adjustment and identity concerns. I enjoy working with my clients to explore how their problems developed, build understanding around why their problematic patterns continue, and empower them to make meaningful changes in their lives. My approach to therapy is integrative and collaborative. I often take an interpersonal approach to help clients face difficult emotions while also employing skills based techniques such as cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapy. My style is conversational and my goal is for the therapeutic space to feel comfortable and allow the client to be their authentic self.

As a therapist in practice over 12 years, I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ People of Color communities coping with depression, anxiety, relationship stress, racial identity, and spirituality/faith issues. I have have extensive experience working with Asian/ Asian-Americans and other communities of color, immigrants, Millennials, Gen Z, and college students. We all need spaces in our lives to be seen and heard. There are times, however, when it can be hard to find those spaces of acceptance, non-judgment, and problem solving. I will work with you to explore and find solutions to the challenges that come with navigating the realities of our complicated lives. My approach in therapy focuses on each person's unique stories, strengths, and resilience, from a space of empathy, and concrete tools to move forward. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that balances spaces of acceptance with change, which is based in cognitive & dialectical behavioral therapy (CBT) and (DBT). I am committed to diverse communities and enjoy working with clients of all racial backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities. I believe that therapy should be accessible and affordable, which is why I take insurance including Aetna, Oscar, Oxford and United. Please contact me for more information about using your insurance for therapy.

My work in the field of counseling began in 1992 and I have been a clinician in practice for over 25 years. I specialize in helping clients work through trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and supporting them on their journey to improved balance in life. My therapeutic approach is person centered. I work closely with clients to help them connect with their values, gain personal insight, understanding and self-compassion. With a trauma-informed mindset, I strive to create a safe and therapeutic environment. This entails a blend of treatment interventions designed to best match individual needs. I draw inspiration from the work of colleagues like: Brene Brown, Bessel Van der Kolk, Gabor Mate, Alfred Adler, Carl Rogers, and Carl Jung. These individuals are leaders in the field of counseling and therapy. They are the inspiration that has helped build my foundation for an enduring and balanced practice. My counseling background includes work with adults, college students, children and families, couples, Military Personnel, Veterans, and their families, as well as disabled adults. In my current work, I focus on helping individuals rebuild a foundation from which to grow from. Because I am a firm believer in the power of yoga, self-reflection, and meditation; when appropriate, I weave Eastern Philosophies into treatment. For example, the body holds trauma in seven main body parts (pelvis, diaphragm, throat, jaw, hamstrings, shoulders, and neck). With the application of some yoga, meditation, and mindful attention, we can help the body release underlying trapped feelings so that healing can begin.

Hello! My name is Ruth, I'm a Queer, Cis-Woman, and I use She/Her pronouns. Have you found it hard to find a therapist you connect with? Do you need to find someone that is nonjudgmental, empathic, helps you feel at ease, and shares your sense of humor? As a first generation college student myself, college was a challenge. My therapist helped me through. I learned mental health is as important as physical health. With over 9 years experience working with college students, I have really enjoyed helping young adults navigate this interesting, challenging time. Have you been told you're "too sensitive"? Are you longing to be seen and understood? Do you need to learn how to communicate more assertively, increase your coping and calming strategies, or explore your childhood or family trauma? Are you questioning your identity, gender, or sexuality? I am Trauma-informed, Body Positive, Health at Every Size, and Sex Positive. I enjoy working with clients who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community. If you need an assessment and letter for Gender Affirming Surgery, I would be happy to provide this service. Reaching out is an important first step! We can schedule a 15 minute free consultation to see if we are a good fit. Life can be so much better!

I am a New York State licensed therapist working with adults and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, and OCD. Many of the people I work with are high functioning and successful, but feel stuck in patterns of overthinking, avoidance, or low mood that are difficult to shift. In therapy, we focus on understanding these patterns and developing practical strategies to respond differently. This often includes learning skills to manage intrusive or anxious thoughts, improve mood, and increase tolerance for uncertainty and difficult emotions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in practical strategies, while also providing space to explore underlying factors that may cause distress. I use evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

Therapy is a unique experience and I believe that we as humans are most balanced when we feel safe and understood, non-judgmentally. As a bilingual therapist (English and Spanish), I strive to ensure that clients are provided the space to effectively express themselves in a way that makes sense to them. I have years of experience working with college students like you who may be feeling overwhelmed with the load of academics, expectations, and also trying to maintain a social life and practice self-care. Sometimes, just having a neutral person to talk to is all you need. My approach to therapy is prioritizing your needs and personalizing sessions to reflect that. Specifically, the therapeutic styles that I utilize are Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I believe that therapy is done at your pace. Ultimately, therapy is about recognizing that your mental health matters (just as much as physical health) and valuing the process to get there.

Are you surviving — or actually thriving? I became a therapist so I could help people thrive instead of just surviving. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 13 years of experience helping adults heal from trauma, manage ADHD, break painful relational patterns, and reconnect with who they truly are. I specialize in working with the BIPOC community, college students, first-generation professionals, women navigating major life transitions, high-achieving adults who feel stuck despite their success, and adults with ADHD who are tired of being misunderstood. I am also one of the few LCSWs certified in financial social work — bringing a unique understanding of how money stress, financial trauma, and ADHD intersect with mental health. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you. I draw from trauma-focused therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic therapy — always meeting you where you are. Reaching out is the first act of self-care. I offer telehealth exclusively, serving adults in California, New York, New Jersey, and Florida. ¡Se habla español!

My approach centers on engaging in self-discovery and awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behavioral patterns. This internal world influences anxiety, depression, mood stability and reactivity. Therapy is where you can take the time to get to know more about yourself and ways to build helpful self-care practices. Many of my clients come to therapy struggling with persistent self-doubt, critical inner narratives, as well as the weight of expectations around identity, achievement, and emotional expression. These expectations can distort our sense of self worth, making it challenging to define and meet important self-growth goals. Together, we can work to intuitively explore what may be contributing to these challenges, current belief systems and behavioral patterns. I value a conversational approach to therapy, where you can feel open in expressing your thoughts, concerns and internal narratives in order to ultimately choose if they are still serving you or it may be time for change. How we speak to ourselves matters; it not only affects our mood but also our motivation, behavior, and ability to connect with others. When we cultivate an intentional internal dialogue that aligns with our values we can begin to unlock a greater sense of autonomy and capability. This process leads to lessened anxiety, greater self confidence and acceptance.
