My approach is influenced by C.G. Jung, Viktor Frankl (Man's Search for Meaning) Socratic dialogue, Buddhism and Quaker meetings. I work best with the person who sees their life as a journey of self-discovery. I will help you uncover the solutions that you already have and see the problematics of those solutions. I will help you listen to your muse, interpret your dreams, identify your interpersonal patterns and face the fears and anxieties that haunt you. I will treat your troubles with the utmost respect because they help you learn and grow. Gratitude softens pain. I find parallels between creativity & spiritual inspiration.
No matter the challenges you may be facing, I am here to provide support and guidance as we navigate through them together in therapy. We can work collaboratively to understand the impact of these challenges on your life and identify skills and coping mechanisms that can aid in your journey. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, drawing from attachment theory, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and mindfulness-based interventions. Whether you’re navigating personal struggles, relationship issues, or life transitions, my goal is to empower you to discover insights, develop resilience, and embark on a path towards positive change. I see women only at this time.
Oh college, it's "supposed" to be the best days of your life...whoever came up with that needs a serious reality check. I've been through it and have also worked with enough college students, young adults, and adults of all ages to say that for many of us, that statement is completely false. So please know that if you find that these are not the best days (or even if you feel that these are the worst days), you are not alone. There is nothing "wrong" with you and I am here to help. I unfortunately don't have a magic wand to transform your college experience into something you see in the movies, but I provide a combination of medication management and brief supportive therapy (a fancy way of saying I include some therapy during our 30 minute medication follow up appointments) that can help address concerns like depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts, and mood disorders. I’ll work with you to create a personalized plan that meets your unique needs and helps you achieve your mental health goals. Talking about medication can be daunting. When I prescribe it, my goal isn’t to change who you are, but to help you rediscover what life can be like when your symptoms are managed. While medication won’t solve every issue, it can be a powerful tool alongside therapy and lifestyle changes, enabling you to reclaim your ability to thrive.

Choosing to start therapy is a brave and meaningful step, and I’m honored to walk alongside you on this journey. My approach focuses on creating a welcoming, compassionate space where we can explore your experiences together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Whether you’re navigating relationship challenges, identity exploration, or significant life transitions, I’m here to support you every step of the way. I’m currently pursuing a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University, with a specialization in working with LGBTQ+ couples and families. My background includes experience in Crisis Counseling through The Trevor Project, where I had the privilege of supporting LGBTQ+ youth during some of their most difficult moments. I’m deeply passionate about helping individuals and couples work through relationship complexities, identity concerns, and the pressures of society. Whether you’re healing from family rejection, seeking to improve communication, or striving to build resilience, I’m committed to helping you foster healing and deeper connections. My therapeutic approach integrates models like Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy, which enable me to address relational dynamics, empower clients to reshape their narratives and provide an affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals and families. My ultimate goal is to help you cultivate a sense of belonging while honoring your unique path.
My psychotherapy practice focuses on individuals and couples, ranging in age from young adults (18 and up), adults, and elderly. My practice is experienced and welcoming to LGBTQ and BIPOC populations. Areas of professional practice include: • Mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar • Alcohol and drug use, harm reduction • Relationships, separation and divorce • Sexual issues and concerns • Chronic pain and illness, including HIV, autoimmune disorders, fibromyalgia, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome • Grief and loss • Women's reproductive health • Career issues • Financial concerns
I provide individual and family therapy to adults and teenagers navigating relational challenges, life transitions, anxiety and depression. I also have extensive background working with neurodivergent people (ADHD and Autism Spectrum). I am passionate about helping individuals as they navigate life adjustments, such as starting a new job, leaving home, becoming a parent or processing a change in a relationship. I value creating a safe, open, and authentic space for people to learn more about themselves. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, collaborative and relational. I believe that our experiences throughout our lives impact the way that we see ourselves and our relationships. From this perspective, I work with clients to explore how their life experiences have impacted them. I know that it is difficult to choose a therapist. If you are curious about what it would be like to work with me, please feel free to reach out to set up a phone consultation. I look forward to hearing from you!
Hi, I’m Elyse, the owner of A Better You, LCSW, PLLC. I know that seeking help can feel scary. It’s a big deal to be vulnerable, open, and honest about what you’ve been going through! But guess what? You don’t have to face your hardships by yourself, because I’ll be with you every step of the way. Combining my extensive training as a licensed clinical social worker with my own life experiences, I provide a uniquely empathetic approach to therapy; I care about who you are, and more importantly, who you wish to be. On the other side of your fears is the person you’ve dreamed about becoming. A better you is right around the corner
Maybe you’ve been the “easy kid” — the one who doesn’t make waves, keeps it together, and takes care of everyone else. On the outside, you look fine. Inside, you feel unseen, weighed down, or like no one really gets you. I’m Citlali (seet-la-lee), but most call me Lali (like lollipop) a therapist who helps young adults with parents who can’t always show up emotionally. In therapy, you don’t have to pretend or be “the strong one.” This is a space just for you — to talk about what’s real, to figure out who you are, and to feel supported instead of alone. Reach out to schedule your free 15 minute intro call to see if we're a good fit together! I look forward to connecting soon :)

I’m a Clinical Psychologist (board certified in Group Psychology), and I work with college and graduate students who want to understand themselves better and feel more at ease in their lives and relationships. In therapy, I offer a space to slow down, reflect, and make sense of what’s happening—whether it’s stress, anxiety, relationships, identity, motivation, or big transitions. My approach is psychoanalytic and relational, which means we pay attention not just to symptoms, but to the deeper patterns and experiences that shape how you think and feel.
I received my Master's in Social Work from New York University's Silver School of Social Work. I have years of experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, eating disorders, as well as different phobias. I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (EX/RP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
Janet Shortall (she/her/hers) is a mental health counselor with over 30 years of experience providing trauma-informed care and support to university students and staff at Cornell University as a student services professional. Janet's approach to counseling integrates various modalities, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Her clinical focus is on the experiences of undergraduate and graduate students coping with depression and/or anxiety as well as with older adults struggling with romantic relationships, grief and loss, trauma, and work-life balance. Janet brings to each counseling session a capacity for deep listening, a compassionate heart, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative relationship with her clients.
As a therapist, I focus on creating a safe, welcoming space where you can be yourself and work through life’s challenges at your own pace. I have a background in supporting clients through a range of challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and trauma. When I’m not working, you’ll find me petting my cats (Avo & Loki), getting out in nature, being with loved ones, or getting lost in an art project. As a therapist, I tailor sessions to meet the unique needs of each client. In sessions, I focus on creating a good vibe while helping to explore strategies to help you cope or work toward your goals. I am part of a therapy practice called Resolute Mental Health, which has a dedicated team available to help with insurance and administrative support. We also offer psychiatry services at Resolute if a referral is needed! Please feel free to reach out if you would like to work together :)

I help clients who are trying to manage stress, anxiety, self-esteem or relationship issues and life transitions. Often clients are navigating a change in their lives, such as their educational path, career, or relationships. I support clients through these transitions and provide a safe, therapeutic environment where they can explore their individuality and strengths. Clients are also supported through the process of examining maladaptive patterns of thought and/or behavior with the use of Psychodynamic, Relational and CBT frameworks. These approaches, combined with a strong therapeutic relationship, help to foster an increased awareness and greater sense of empowerment, which can increase overall quality of life.
