Therapists for college students near Montgomery College
I am part of a well-established group practice that offers multiple modalities of therapy, career counseling and coaching. Personally, I have over 20 years of experience providing clinical services in a variety of settings, but most recently, I have focused on private practice. I work with young adults, adults, couples and groups.
Are you feeling anxious, confused, stuck, sad? Dealing with things that are getting in the way of living your best life? You deserve to feel better. In my work as a therapist and college counselor for the past 20+ years I have witnessed the incredible strength and resilience in people despite life's hardships, losses and traumas. I work with adults and teens to deal with life's challenges such as relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, adoption, parenting, divorce, gender and sexual identity. As people gain deeper understanding of themselves and their behaviors , they are often able to make changes to improve their self esteem, strengthen their relationships, cope with life's ups and downs, and achieve deeper satisfaction in their lives. Please feel free to contact me with questions or for a free phone consultation.

I'm Kris. I enjoy serving clients ages 14-65. My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that clients have all the wisdom and capacity to heal after traumatic experiences. With the right help, we can all tap into the power of recovery - we are our own best healer and we heal in relationship to others - not in isolation. I am formally trained in Eye Movement Densensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), DBT, IFS, and Nature-informed therapy (NIT). I received my B.A. in Legal Studies with a certificate in Native American Indian Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst; a Masters in Educational Psychology Applied Developmental Science from the University of Virginia; and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver Four Corners Program. Collectively, this background has given me an integrated understanding of trauma from a social, cultural, neurobiological, nature-based framework.
Thanks for finding my page! I'm admired by your courage to take this next step. I typically work with young adults and college students experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, questioning where their life is headed, etc. Whatever it is, I'm here for you. While my approach depends greatly on what's going on in your world, I typically utilize aspects of CBT, mindfulness, and psychodynamic theory in my work. I am also an MSPE (Mindful Sport Performance Enhancement) trained instructor and enjoy working with athletes. I'm currently being trained in EMDR by the Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy, and trained in DBT as well. Outside of my work as a psychotherapist, I work as an adjunct professor at George Mason University in their School of Social Work, and previously coached soccer for seven years. Please feel free to reach out for a free phone consultation - I look forward to working with you!
