Therapists for college students near Indianapolis, IN
I am a Master’s Level Intern in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Ball State University. I'm working with Associates in Behavioral Counseling under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. I work with all ages, from young children to older adults, who experience relationship/family concerns, depression, grief, trauma, anxiety, self-esteem, and behavioral disorders. Sessions will always be person-centered, culturally-sensitive, and trauma-informed. My approach to therapy is holistic, mind-body oriented, and rooted in mindfulness. I also pull from emotionally-focused therapy, attachment-based therapy, and expressive arts therapy. I believe that the therapy should fit the person, not the other way around. So, I may pull from other modalities that will benefit you the most.

Hello! I'm John, a licensed professional clinical counselor and licensed mental health counselor practicing privately in Ohio. With over 20 years in the counseling field, I have developed a deep understanding of mental health challenges, life transitions, and the pivotal role families play in our lives. I specialize in trauma and attachment, exploring how these elements influence our daily experiences. I am committed to supporting you through life's transitions, integrating an understanding of how your faith intersects with your current life phase. Drawing from a Christian perspective, I incorporate Christian values into my therapeutic approach to provide holistic care.
We offer mental health services and support using Relational Cultural Therapy. "Relational-Cultural work is not about changing people to fit into dysfunctional cultural conditions, but empowering them to heal in connection, and in turn, to heal others in connection. A part of growth in connection often spills into participating in social change, through creating alliances or communities that are built around relational values." –Judith V. Jordan, Relational-Cultural Therapy. Our practice is gender affirming, intersectional, anti-racist, and diverse.

Hi! My name is Katelyn Downs and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I currently am specialized in working with clients who are struggling with issues such as unprocessed trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, relationship issues, and general stress/life transitions. I especially enjoy and have extensive training in working with survivors of sexual assault and other forms of trauma. I can help you develop coping skills to reduce the symptoms you may be having, build healthy relationships and attachments, process thoughts and memories you may be avoiding or have never talked through before, meet goals for personally and educationally, and always meet you with non-judgmental compassion. I do my best to help ease your anxiety as I know that first session can be stressful and you may be skeptical or unsure what to expect. Know that you experience in therapy is what YOU want it to be, and I am only a guide to assist you in creating the life you want and deserve.
I am a solution focused therapist with 6 years of experience working with individuals and families to help them reach their goals. I get to know my clients and incorporate meaningful activities into our therapeutic sessions to help them work through the issues that are causing them disruption in their lives. I know that life can be difficult due to many different issues. Whatever the issue is, I am happy to work with clients to help them figure out how to overcome it. My primary objective is to help clients remove barriers to personal success and take steps toward autonomy through the promotion of mental health. I am able to provide this service in both English and Spanish. In addition to being a bilingual mental health therapist, I am a seasoned educator with 13 years of classroom teaching experience. Over the years, I have gained beneficial experience that has helped form my counseling philosophy that we all have room to grow. Lao Tzu said it best when he coined the phrase, "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." We are all on a journey in this life and start at different places along the path. It doesn't matter where any one of us starts, it just matters that we take that first step and keep on going.
