Stressful life events and trauma can lead to disconnection from one’s self and others. This disconnection can manifest as anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Through therapy, you can heal and build a more connected and fulfilling life. As a Clinical Psychologist with 18 years psychotherapy experience, I work with individuals and couples integrating cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and existential approaches to therapy. Therapy might involve coping skills, emotional awareness, mind-body connection, learning new ways of thinking and interacting to improve quality of life and relationships, and finding meaning. My areas of clinical focus include life transitions, anxiety, grief, interpersonal relationships, trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, and sexuality. Integrative in nature, I draw from cognitive behavior therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, existential, interpersonal and mindfulness modalities. Please visit my website for more information about me and my approach. https://hammelpsychological.com/

I am originally from Taiwan and have enjoyed working with college students in both English and Madarin. I current accept United Healthcare plans, and I am working on accepting Anthem Medicaid, CareSource Medicaid, Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna. I offer sliding scales. I am certified in EMDR therapy through EMDRIA (EMDR International Association). I continue to take advanced trainings, seek consultation and attend study groups after being certified. If you’re someone who lies awake at night replaying your entire day—going over conversations, decisions, and moments that felt harder than they “should” have—this might be for you. Many people who reach out to me say some version of, “I’ve always felt a little different. I can get things done, but it takes so much out of me. I overthink everything, I second-guess myself constantly, and I feel overwhelmed by seemingly small things” You might lose hours to indecision, get stuck in spirals of overthinking, or feel paralyzed. Often there’s a layer of self-criticism running underneath it all—wondering why it feels so much harder for you. You may relate to a lifetime of trying to keep up, mask, or push through. What once worked doesn’t anymore. Now it can look like burnout, emotional overwhelm, difficulty regulating your energy, or feeling like your nervous system is always “on.” On the outside, you may look high-functioning, capable, and like you’re managing well—but inside you’re worn out. Therapy isn’t about something being wrong. It’s about understanding how your mind works and finding support that actually fits. We can slow things down, make sense of what’s been overwhelming, and build more ease. I also offer nature-based therapy to help calm your nervous system and create space to think more clearly.

In the treatment of eating disorders and eating related concerns, Dr. Duffy works from an integrative approach and often uses methods from cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, and interpersonal theories. She sees eating disorders as a multidimensional disorder and thus strongly believes in a multidisciplinary approach. This means that individuals with eating disorders most often have psychological, medical, and nutritional causes and consequences of their disorder and require treatment in each area for a full recovery. With written permission from the client, she works with local dietitians and physicians to provide collaborative care. In addition to work around eating disorders and eating-related concerns, therapy will also address related issues such as anxiety, depression, and family concerns.

Do you have insomnia or struggle with nightmares? Want to improve your mood, reduce worry/anxious thoughts, change unwanted behaviors, or better manage a tough relationship? My niche is working with clients seeking medium to short-term (1 year or less), goal-oriented counseling. Studies show many people benefit from this more focused approach. Sometimes even a handful of sessions can get you moving in a better direction! I'll help you identify realistic, concrete steps to make the changes you want to see in your life & together we'll create a plan to work toward your goals. (Note: this is not a good fit for every person/problem.) I'm a Psychologist with 22 years of experience & work with adults age 18+. I use evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and integrate aspects of ACT & Mindfulness if appropriate for your needs. I'm also trained in CBT for Insomnia & CBT-Nightmares, both of which are shown to have positive benefits on other mental health symptoms. It can be hard to start counseling, especially if this is your first time or you found counseling un-helpful in the past. Good for you for taking this first step toward feeling better! Let's schedule a 15 minute phone conversation to find out what you're looking to accomplish through counseling & if we might be a good fit. Please note: I do not provide assessments/testing, and I do not write letters/complete forms for Emotional Support Animals, probation, court/legal situations, disabilities, ADHD, learning disorders, etc..

College can be both exciting and overwhelming. Balancing classes, relationships, future plans, and personal struggles can leave you feeling stressed, anxious, or uncertain about yourself. I enjoy working with students who are navigating transitions, managing depression or anxiety, or processing the impact of their background and beliefs, including religious trauma. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can explore who you are, build resilience, and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling college experience.

Looking through endless therapist profiles can be exhausting when you're already struggling. Let me make this simple: I don't sugarcoat things. I'm here to actively work with you, not just listen and nod like a sounding board. Working together, we can actually change what's not working by developing practical skills that are effective and easy to use. I've witnessed countless journeys of growth and healing and I believe wholeheartedly in your capacity for change. I work well with all kinds of people, and I especially click with gamers, students, and musicians - shared interests tend to lead to a better therapeutic connection. You're stuck, but not broken. I help with anxiety, depression, and substance use with practical approaches: harm reduction perspectives, CBT/DBT techniques, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. Whether you're dealing with social anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, burnout, or school stress, we'll build tools that will work specifically for you. Even though whatever hurdle you are trying to overcome may seem impossible, part of you knows something needs to change. Whether it's anxiety, substance use, depression, or feeling stuck - taking the first step is hard, but necessary. I offer free consultations to see if we're a good fit. One call could be the start to feeling better. Ready? Let's connect.

I welcome diversity in my practice. A majority of my clients identify as being a part of a diverse or minority population. My clients tend to come to therapy looking to feel more comfortable with themselves, explore their identity, or to reduce the stress of everyday life.
