The state of our world can be so heartbreaking that we feel immobilized at times. Much of our potential is blocked by feeling overwhelmed by the day to day challenge of struggling to advocate for ourselves in our communities, the world, even in our own thoughts and beliefs! It is easy to feel anxious, alone or ungrounded. As a therapist, I have immense respect for the innate knowledge and wisdom in each of us. I strive to create a collaborative environment in which you will feel supported in developing an intimacy with yourself and your experience, allowing you to free parts that are stuck in or burdened by past experiences. I emphasize serving individuals that experience marginalized identities and see myself as your co-conspirator. I work with issues of identity and non-normative experiences, in the context of gender, sexuality and queer experiences beyond that framework. I also work with and acknowledge the grief and trauma associated with the crises of our society, species and planet. My approach relies primarily on internal family systems or (parts work), narrative therapy, as well as Buddhist psychology. Our work together will emphasize somatic experience as a way to directly contact and understand how we are impacted by the world while developing the outer and inner resources to respond empowered with choice.

I am a queer cis-woman of color, and an immigrant from Denmark and Comoros. I am passionate about fiercely challenging systemic oppression and empowering people to reclaim their innate power. As a somatic and social justice psychotherapist, I guide and empower clients in the discovery and celebration of your authentic self. Through both my work and my own lived experience, I have developed a critical awareness of the relationship between trauma and oppression. In the therapy room, you are able to gain bodily awareness and skills on how you can move more fluidly in expressing and embodying you own unapologetic truth that is too often silenced by society I specialize working with marginalized populations, including people of color, QTPOC, bilingual individuals, immigrants, queer people, and trans and gender non-conforming individuals. As a multilingual psychotherapist, I provide counseling in English, Spanish, French and Danish. I provide both in-person and video sessions. Hi, I'm Jonathan. I'm a down-to-earth, easygoing guy. Beyond that, I'm also a therapist. I often find myself working well with those hoping to get more out of life, whether that involves building confidence, developing good relationships, creating positive habits, understanding your identities, or adjusting to new life circumstances. I'll listen without judgment to really understand you, but also gently push you to be the best version of yourself. After all, we're here to solve problems and find solutions. While therapy can look a lot of different ways, I've found that transparency, humor, and consistency are a few of the key ingredients. Personally, I have felt how transformative therapy can be (despite my initial skepticism). My hope is to be able to offer that to others too. You can connect with me by phone, email, or my website to schedule a free consultation. Let's see if we're a good fit.

I help clients feel less anxious and more authentic in their relationships. I believe that many people experience struggle in their lives as a result of growing distant from their emotional compasses. I work with individual clients and couples to reconnect with these aspects of their experiences. While I work with clients of all genders, I hold a particular interest and expertise in working with men. I approach sessions with a compassion, humor, and directness. In my experience, change begins when we observe the way our patterns continue to lead to distress in our lives. I help clients identify approaches to shifting these patterns. Through this process, clients often find themselves feeling more authentic and fulfilled in their relationships. If you are interested in the approach described here, please reach out. I would love to hear from you.

Do you have that sinking sensation that you are not in control of your own life? Your decisions are governed by hidden desires, urges, fears, and conditioning - the unconscious. If unexamined it has the terrible power to ruin you, but, if harnessed, it can be a source of incredible power, motivation, and creativity. Now is the time to take your first step towards freedom. Pick up the torch of awareness and walk, head held high, into the darkness of your unconscious mind!
Who I work with: - People who are fired up and ready to do this - “Refugees” from conventional eating disorder treatment who are ready to finally get to the root of the issue - Folks with some sass, fire, and rebelliousness (with a soft and sensitive core) - Quirky go-getters, nerds and misfits, and outsiders with undercover witchy tendencies - People who want better relationships, emotional resiliency skills, and a healthier relationship with food and their body - People who’ve tried talk therapy and have an inkling there’s something more: a deeper, more soulful connection to themselves and all their inner parts. *I welcome folks of all identities and sizes How I work: Is it frustrating for you when people tell you to “just let it go” or “be kinder to yourself”? As if there were some switch you could flip…if you just weren’t so stubborn / clueless / goofy. First up: there is no such switch. (If there were, someone would have patented it by now). Second up: suggestions like this, no matter how well-intentioned, almost never work. They can also leave us feeling frustrated and like failures. Self-compassion and emotional healing are trickier than most people (or cutesy magnets) would have you believe. Myth: Just talk through why you feel this way and you problem will vanish. Truth: Real healing takes more than head-knowing. It’s a whole-bodied affair. This is why typical talk therapy - where you come in, sit on a couch, share how you feel - often falls short. You leave feeling like "ok, I feel a little better, but now what?" So I work a little differently. Still talk, still insight, but more connection to body, intuition, and emotions. We get beyond the "why" and get to the actual "how" of real change. You can read more about my approach at www.stephaniesmallhealth.com. I’m a licensed clinical social worker and nutritionist. I received my BA from Yale University, my MSW from Smith College for Social work, and certificates in Holistic Nutrition Education and Mental Health Nutrition from Bauman College and the Academy for Addiction and Mental Health Nutrition. I ran the nutrition program at a substance abuse recovery center in Denver for two years and have trained in trauma therapy, internal parts work, somatic therapies, and more. I currently maintain a private practice online and in Boulder and Denver, CO, write for national and local publications, consult for mental health agencies and substance abuse recovery centers, and speak at live events.
I help people who feel stunted by the lingering impact of trauma and early childhood relational wounding. I offer a welcoming space where safety and trust are imperative, inviting my clients to be truly heard and seen in a non-judgmental environment. By aligning to client's innate wisdom and utilizing Somatic, trauma and other mindfulness based modalities, I assist clients in feeling heard, empowered and supported to work through trauma and relational wounds. Together we set out on a journey to find greater flexibility and ease in life and to feel freedom and confidence to have a life worth living. As a graduate of Naropa University's Contemplative Psychotherapy program I have trained in intensive mindfulness meditation practices which generate greater curiosity, self-compassion and wisdom. With this as my therapeutic base, I incorporate Somatic Experiencing, EMDR and other somatic based modalities for treating trauma, attachment and relational wounds.

Hi! I’m Jeanette. I’m a licensed professional counselor in Colorado with over a decade of experience in the mental health field. Before starting my private practice in 2018 I worked in several different inpatient as well as outpatient settings including inpatient psychiatric units and emergency rooms. I have worked with all ages but I currently focus on working with teens, college students, and younger adults up to age 45 or so. I practice mainly from person-centered standpoints which emphasizes everyone’s innate ability to change and grow. I have worked extensively with survivors of trauma, and am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am very passionate about physical activity and the importance of integrating it into everyone’s daily routine. I also emphasize the role of nutrition for mental wellness and am currently receiving additional training in this area. Our brains are a part of our body and any mental health treatment should include significant time to ensure that you are also in good physical health. On the personal side, I am married and have three great kids ranging in age from preschool to high school. Whenever I get a chance, I’m out walking my dogs, Skips and Teegan. I’ve lived in Arvada for the past 15 years and, while I’m not a native, I definitely consider Colorado home.
