Inadequate. Incompetent. Undeserving. No matter what you do, you can’t get the thoughts to stop. You’ve put in the work. You’ve tried to think positive, be positive, be “happy,” but the thoughts still live in your head, rent-free, day after day, controlling your every move, saying, “Listen to me, I’m the captain now.” You’ve also given your all to your education, your career, and your relationships. You did everything you thought you were supposed to do. And yet, life isn’t getting any easier. Make it make sense! I specialize in helping those who are anxious and overwhelmed learn to recognize and honor their needs – that may mean: giving themselves permission to slow down, scale back, set healthy boundaries, go after what they truly want, and be themselves (unapologetically). There isn’t any magic to therapy (as much as I’d fancy being a sort of Dumbledore), and you certainly can’t “obliviate” your childhood trauma. You need a new strategy. You can learn ways to regain control of your life, no wands required. You can feel excited about life again, more connected to yourself and others, and engaging in what you truly care about. As an African American psychologist and military spouse, I bring a wealth of unique experience and expertise from California, Florida, Mississippi, and Georgia that wouldn’t be easy to find elsewhere. I currently am authorized to practice interjurisdictionally through PSYPACT, and provide individual psychotherapy services via telehealth to adults in PSYPACT-participating states and territories. I would love for you to share your journey with me so I can help you get what you deserve: better relationships, self-care, and greater life satisfaction. We’ll both bring our genuine selves and I’ll make this challenging process feel a whole lot easier.

“Am I living in a way which is deeply satisfying to me, and which truly expresses me?”- Carl Rogers Life comes with its ebbs and flows and it can be challenging feeling as though you are alone with your worries or feeling trapped in painful patterns or emotions. Beginning therapy is often our first step on the path toward healing. And just by considering this step, you are already taking a leap that requires courage and trust in yourself and your potential therapist.

College can feel like a lot. Classes, deadlines, jobs, friendships, family, and figuring out the future all pile up quickly. It’s exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming, and sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. You don’t have to go through it on your own. Our practice supports college students across Virginia with both counseling and medication management. We work with students who are dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, focus challenges, or who just need someone to talk with in a supportive space. As part of our care, every client also gets free access to a wellness app. This gives you practical tools, exercises, and resources right on your phone so you can practice healthy habits and manage stress between sessions. We have providers trained in CBT, EMDR, and solution focused therapies, so we can tailor our approach to what works best for you. To help you decide if we’re the right fit, we also offer free 15-minute consult calls that you can schedule directly through our website. The students who tend to get the most out of working with us are those who want to feel better and are open to trying new ways of taking care of themselves. Are you struggling with seemingly endless mental spirals, rumination, or obsessive loops about the what-ifs? Taboo or intrusive thoughts that feel unsettling or completely unlike you? Overwhelming doubt, fear, and guilt no matter how hard you try to “just let it go”? The sense that nothing has helped – not therapy, reassurance, nor distraction? You are not alone. These symptoms are common with OCD and/or anxiety. Targeted treatment can help empower you to break free from the cycle and reconnect with the present moment in a meaningful way. I specialize in treating OCD and anxiety using evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I emphasize practical strategies and aim to bring compassion, curiosity, and a touch of humor (when it fits) to help create a safe, collaborative, and growth-oriented therapeutic experience. I view counseling as a place to explore openly, gain insight, and build practical skills to move towards change that aligns with your values and goals. Reaching out is a big step. When you’re ready, reach out and I’d be happy to chat to see if we may be a good fit.
