Through my lived experience, I hope I can empower fellow marginalized individuals to seek therapy and improve their quality of life. Experience I am a two-time graduate of Radford University. While living and working in rural environments for five years, I have learned how to navigate and connect individuals with community resources. I have worked in multiple higher education institutions, including the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Radford University, Virginia Tech, and the University of Virginia. I have enjoyed my experiences as a social work intern at both Carilion Clinic Saint Albans Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and Virginia Tech’s Services for Students with Disabilities, and as a Clinician for Assertive Community Treatment at New River Valley Community Services. Sometimes we have moments in our lives were we feel lost in our present and wonder where our confident past self went. We have other moments where we feel pulled in many directions by friends, family, work, and or school. This feeling of being pulled is overwhelming and sometimes brings about guilt. My name is Adenike (Aah-deh-knee-keh). I am a first-generation Nigerian/Haitian, queer, cis woman; my pronouns are she/her. Let’s sit down and talk about life. I will hold a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental space for your unique life experiences, true authentic self, and help guide you through life in a way that feels most comfortable
Hey there! In counseling, I have a special interest in working with individuals struggling with anxiety, life transitions, body image, trauma, cultural shock, and career struggles. I also enjoy helping clients overcome family patterns they feel stuck in and those who have people-pleasing tendencies. I want you to know that there is no shame or guilt in seeking therapy, only the desire to help you grow, however that looks for you. In therapy, I take a holistic approach and address both the mind and body, as they are interconnected. I enjoy using inner child techniques to help clients process past hurts and move towards healing. I also believe practicing self-compassion to empathize with those parts of ourselves that are sometimes hard to acknowledge is a freeing experience. I know that reaching out can feel nerve-racking at first, so take a deep breath and remind yourself of how courageous you are being. If you are ready to seek care, I would love to see how I can help. Proud of you for taking care of you!
I focus on helping individuals feel seen, supported, and understood. My practice philosophy aligns naturally with the "waypoint" theme—viewing therapy as a collaborative space where you can pause, re-orient, and make progress at your own pace.
I work with adolescents, teenagers, and adults who have experienced or are currently experiencing anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, negative thoughts, and relationship difficulties. I help clients to develop skills to manage or eliminate symptoms related to negative thoughts, mood disorders, personality disorders and more. I take the time to fully understand what’s going on in every situation, so our solutions reflect the whole picture, not just one piece. I am skilled at evaluating, diagnosing, and treating psychological and mental health disorders; providing direct, compassionate care to clients; and helping them recognize, and put into practice preventative measures. I am committed to understanding each client and creating treatment plans to set them up for long-term success. I use motivational interviewing, TF-CBT, DBT, and relaxation strategies to help clients regulate and improve daily functioning. I enjoy helping clients find solution oriented strategies, become self-aware, and identify negative thoughts or emotions.

My psychotherapy practice is dedicated to the health and well-being of individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, family of origin conflicts, interpersonal difficulties, and other issues that can develop in the face of life stressors. It’s not uncommon to experience emotional distress as a result of facing transitions throughout our lives. Challenges can include struggles within our own families of origin (including relationships with a sibling, parent, grandparent or other family member), beginning college/a new career, illness, relocation, and loss and bereavement. How we respond is unique to each of us and at times it can be helpful to have the support of a therapist to make sense of it all and to assist you in returning to living the life you want to live. Seeking therapy shows personal strength and motivation and my professional training allows me to help you gain a greater understanding of yourself by examining behaviors, identifying interpersonal difficulties, and learning more effective communication strategies and behaviors to improve relationships. This takes place in a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential space where you’re free to explore the issues that are important to you. And because I do not work with any outside agency or insurance provider, your private information remains private.
I have worked with individuals with a wide range of ages - from adolescents to older adults, individuals involved in school and/or high stress jobs, and survivors of childhood, relationship, and experienced trauma. I firmly believe that therapy should be a comfortable and safe space, so I tailor my approach to what works and feels right for my client. This is a collaborative effort, and I will work with you on developing goals that will best suit your needs. I am a licensed mental health provider in both Massachusetts and Virginia. I belileve that therapy should be a comfortable and safe space. Every client is different and I take this into account when tailoring my approach. I utilize strength based approaches such as CBT, ACT, trauma informed care, DBT, and EFT to drive healing, growth, and understanding. I believe in meeting a client where they are at. Wherever that is, let's get started! I look forward to hearing from you. You can book with me via my website!
If you're here, there's a good chance you've been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unmotivated lately. You want to make positive changes and create a life you love, but you can't seem to find a way forward. Sometimes things get so bad that the only way to give yourself a break from your emotions is to cut, burn, or hit yourself. You always feel bad about it later, but you don't know what else to do. Your thoughts are getting scary and you're worried you might do something you can't take back. You miss the person you used to be and you know you deserve more than this. I'm Hallie and I help people stop feeling bad about themselves, understand their experiences through a compassionate lens, and take steps toward a life that feels meaningful to them. As a therapist, I work hard to create a genuine and authentic supportive relationship with my clients. Therapy with me is not like a self-help workbook or checklist of breathing exercises. I don't believe that you are a problem to be solved and you probably already have a laundry list of coping skills that have felt like putting bandaids on bullet holes for far too long. I do not just sit and listen. I offer you insights, reflect patterns, and hold you accountable to make the changes that will help you get from where you are now to where you want to be. You deserve a therapist who sees the real you under all of the sadness, worry, and fear and works with you to create a roadmap to a version of yourself that feels empowered, brave, and resilient. I believe you already have everything you need to become the person you want to be and I am going to help you discover that power and step into your truth one session at a time.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist & am currently accepting new patients. I enjoy working with a diverse group of individuals who have various levels of mental health challenges. One of my specialties is helping adolescents and young adults navigate the complexities of life. My approach to psychotherapy comes from an understanding that every individual is unique & that various life experiences as well as genetic makeup contribute to one's overall mental health. I take into account the particular needs of the person & focus on the current problem while also processing & exploring further in an attempt to identify & resolve the root of the issue.
Have you found yourself struggling with feeling overwhelmed way more than you would like to admit? Has your anxiety washed over you with no rhyme or reason, only to leave you feeling exhausted and confused? Transitioning back to "normal life" and having adult responsibilities is hard enough, but when you add anxiety to the mix--things tend to get interesting (and probably not in the way you would like). My perspective in therapy is that everyone has their own “coping skills toolbox” and it is my job to help you polish the rusty tools that you haven’t used in a while and make room for new and improved tools that are just for you. I will be your accountability partner by supporting and challenging you when needed. While sometimes our lives can feel out of control, many times all we need is a little boost from an outside person to help us move through overwhelming situations. I believe the most important part of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client, so please reach out for a free 15 minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit!

If you’ve ever felt out of place, unsure of yourself, or disconnected from who you really are, you’re not alone. As a minority therapist and trauma specialist based in Fairfax, Virginia, I support individuals—especially students and young adults—who are navigating the weight of cultural expectations, life transitions, and unresolved emotional pain. Many of the clients I work with are trying to better understand themselves while juggling pressure, self-doubt, and a quiet sense of not quite fitting in. Therapy can be a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect—with support that truly sees you. I specialize in trauma recovery using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other evidence-based approaches that help you heal at the root. I also offer therapy intensives for clients who want focused, accelerated support. But more than the modalities I use, I bring my lived experience into this work. I know what it’s like to question your worth or carry invisible burdens, and I’m passionate about helping others find their way back to themselves. In our work together, you don’t need to perform, explain everything, or have it all figured out. You can come as you are. The clients I connect best with are thoughtful, self-aware, and often carrying more than they let on. You might be the strong one in your circles, the caretaker, or the first in your family to pursue therapy—and that can feel both empowering and isolating. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, low self-esteem, family conflict, or identity struggles, I’m here to help you make sense of your story and reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been overlooked or silenced. Therapy doesn’t have to be cold or clinical. In my practice, it’s a space of warmth, collaboration, and real transformation. If you’re ready to explore healing, rebuild your relationship with yourself, and take steps toward long-term growth, I’d be honored to support you.
