Hi, I’m Jennie. I’m a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work, working toward my LCSW licensure, and I’m passionate about supporting people as they navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and discover meaningful growth. I earned my Bachelor’s in Human Development and Sociology from Virginia Tech and my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. My journey in mental health has been wonderfully diverse. I’ve worked in Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court, provided play therapy in schools, delivered applied behavior analysis therapy in early intervention and home settings, and offered outpatient psychotherapy both virtually and in person. While my roots are in children’s mental health, I’ve discovered a special joy in bringing those skills to adult therapy, helping clients reconnect with their inner child and infusing sessions with creativity, curiosity, and even a bit of play. I take a holistic, integrative approach to therapy. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), humanistic perspectives, trauma-informed care, attachment-based framework, as well as insights from my Yoga Teacher Training. I tailor my work to each person’s unique journey. Therapy, to me, is collaborative. I create a space where you can feel safe, heard, and empowered, while we explore what’s possible together. I have experience supporting individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, attachment and relational challenges, grief, and gender-affirming care. I particularly enjoy guiding women who are healing from relational or attachment trauma, helping them reclaim their sense of safety, connection, and self. Outside of sessions, you’ll probably find me stretching at the yoga studio, wandering in nature, or curled up with a good book and my two cats. Taking the first step can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to explore growth, healing, and connection, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Reach out today, and let's get started.
Hi, I’m Emily. I’m a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia, with over eight years of experience supporting individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges as they navigate life transitions and build greater independence. I’ve had the privilege of working with military veterans, adults, and adolescents, helping each person develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to thrive in their daily lives. I take a person-centered approach to therapy, meeting you exactly where you are. My goal is to create an authentic, safe, and supportive environment where you feel heard, valued, and understood. I bring creativity, compassion, and a love of animals and the outdoors to my work, which allows space for exploration, reflection, and meaningful growth. I have experience helping adults of all ages navigate challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, bipolar disorder, cognitive and developmental disabilities, professional stress and burnout, self-esteem concerns, and trauma. Together, we’ll focus on strategies that honor your strengths, support your goals, and help you move toward a life that feels more balanced, empowered, and fulfilling. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, playing with my three cats, or diving into a new creative project. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to explore growth, healing, and connection in a supportive space, I’d be honored to work with you. Hello, my name is Tori and I am a social work supervisee. I am passionate about supporting individuals through life’s challenging seasons. I believe as a therapist, that the most beneficial way to work together is for me to meet you where you are. I think therapy works best when we work together to create a safe, non-judgmental space where healing and meaningful change can occur. I have experience working with teens, young adults and families. I offer support around concerns such as anxiety, depression, identity exploration and values, grief and trauma. I approach therapy from a person-centered lens, I want to help tailor my approach to care for your needs and goals. I am able to use CBT or a structured thought approach, or use DBT skills based therapy to help my clients. My basis of therapy will always be to help empower and enlighten my client as they journey through their own struggles and triumphs. I started my education with my Bachelor’s in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. This has helped guide me in the world of working with people in different stages of their life. I learned through nursing school I was more passionate in working with people versus the medical system. When I went for my Master’s in Social Work, I attended Indiana Wesleyan University. I learned how to speak with my clients and help support them through mental health. I have interned and worked in private practice, PHP/IOP center and memory care day center for older adults. When I am not in sessions I like to surround myself with my dog and my cat. They are both great joys in my life, they often cuddle up with me while I read or watch engaging shows and movies. I love hobbies and I always want to know what interests my clients and colleagues. I enjoy spending time with my sisters and family whenever possible. I truly want to create a therapy space that allows for my clients to feel safe and seen. I want to know my clients as individuals and support them through their mental health needs. When you are ready; bring your goals, struggles and commitment to helping me create a safe environment to address topics that allow for growth and healing.

Discovery Counseling & Consulting's goal is to use cutting edge, proven techniques to help address your concerns and achieve your goals for mental wellbeing. Each of our clinicians has years of experience and training in evidence-based practices. While each of us have expertise in different areas, we all share a commitment to using proven strategies to help overcome problematic behavioral, emotional, and cognitive patterns that interfere with living a fulfilling life. As one of the Richmond areas premier behavioral health practices, we pride ourselves on providing high quality, culturally competent care to a diverse population. We offer an affirming and inviting environment that fosters safety and respect for the individuals that seek our care, including those in the LGBTQIA+ community. We provide a variety of clinical services to children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples of all types. From the first point of contact, we strive to “match” clients with a therapist who has the experience that best meets the needs of the person. We do not operate on a strictly first available approach, instead we prefer to facilitate the best possible match so that clients are more likely to get the results they want from therapy. We don't believe that all therapists can treat all struggles across all populations. Each of our therapists has their own areas of expertise and specialty and are committed to ongoing clinical and professional development.

You’re the person family and friends go to when they need someone to listen or want a helping hand. You take care of others, even if it means sacrificing your own wants and needs. You may feel valued in being needed in this way, but you also find yourself feeling invisible, lonely, emotionally overwhelmed, and resentful. At times, you may even find yourself feeling unworthy of or unable to accept the reciprocation that you also so deeply desire. I invite you to get curious about the possibility that there is a different way to show up for yourself and in your relationships - a way that feels more fulfilling and sustainable. At one point, over-giving and over-performing were what provided you with a sense of safety within your relationships. Maybe you had a parent who needed you to take care of them, or a parent who was unpredictable and unsafe. Therapy is a place where you can feel safe to step out of those earlier roles and connect to your most authentic self. When we take the initial leap towards seeking therapy we may be feeling a range of complicated, conflicting emotions. From hopelessness to hope, self-doubt to self-assurance - these are all completely normal and understandable emotions to experience. No matter what you feel, I look forward to learning more about how I may assist you in your healing journey.
