I have a master's degree in family psychology and I am a licensed professional counselor supervisor in the state of Texas. I have had experience working with families, children, teens and adults individually in a variety of settings; community mental health, schools and home-based treatment for over 17 years. I have the most experience working with depression, anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, parenting issues, life transitions, and trauma/abuse. I also have experience working with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mild autism. I use a person-centered and integrative approach in treatment. This means I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your individual cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I primarily use evidence based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness and solution-focused counseling. I would describe my style as warm and supportive, and I am ready to help you tackle your struggle head-on. Collaboration and consistency are important - together we can work on establishing goals and steps for you to help overcome your current problems. I look forward to helping you be the best you can be!
Feeling swamped with everything on your plate? Between academics, deadlines, relationships, home life, part-time work, studying, and making tough choices, the list feels endless. Sometimes that sense of overwhelm can push you to try harder, or it can make you want to stay in bed all day. Skipping classes, avoiding people, not wanting to bother anyone—these can be signs it’s time to ask for help. I’m here for you, even if you’re unsure, and I hope to offer some guidance and support.
I'm Lara, and I help overwhelmed moms who are carrying it all — the emotions, the decisions, the schedules, the invisible weight that no one else seems to see. If you’re feeling anxious, exhausted, and like you’ve lost yourself somewhere in the chaos of motherhood, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to keep doing this alone, either. As an LPC and mom of three, I deeply understand what it’s like to feel stretched thin, emotionally drained, and unseen. My work centers on helping women navigate the mental load of motherhood, find space to breathe, and reconnect with themselves. You don’t have to explain why you’re tired. You’ll be met with compassion, curiosity, and strategies that meet you exactly where you are. I hold Master’s degrees in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I’ve spent years helping women move through some of the hardest, most tender seasons of their lives. You’ve been showing up for everyone else — now it’s time for someone to show up for you
Trauma is not a one size fits all experience. I am a licensed professional counselor with a passion to create a safe, warm, and inviting environment for individuals to openly express life struggles and challenges that presents as traumatic experiences. That environment is a judgement free space where the individual can feel heard and seen. I have worked with individuals and groups aged 6 years old up to 65+ within the community, schools, churches, their home settings, and within private practice offices. Individuals who engage in therapy can expect to take away understanding and hope. This understanding of how to cope or manage their mental health stimulates hope that "YES! I can!"
About Me / Specialties I am a licensed psychologist specializing in treating adolescents and young adults with OCD, anxiety (including social anxiety, panic, phobias, and generalized anxiety), and related conditions such as body dysmorphic disorder, trichotillomania, tics, and excoriation disorder. I provide evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I see clients in-person in Cambridge, MA and virtually throughout Massachusetts and Texas. I also work with parents, offering coaching to help support their teen or young adult while reducing family accommodations. My goal is to create a compassionate, collaborative space where we take mental health seriously—but not ourselves too seriously. A little humor can go a long way in therapy! Treatment Approach I tailor treatment to each individual, often addressing co-occurring concerns like depression, eating issues, or trauma alongside anxiety or OCD. Using ERP, CBT, ACT, and DBT strategies, I help students manage symptoms, regulate emotions, and make meaningful, lasting changes—all in a supportive and approachable way. Training & Experience I earned my PhD from the University of Virginia, completed my clinical internship at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for OCD and Related Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where I currently see therapy patients and conduct research on OCD spectrum disorders.

Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you're carrying stress, uncertainty, or emotional pain. My goal working with clients is to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel seen, understood, and valued just as you are. I work with clients who are navigating life, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, identity exploration, etc. I take a strengths-based, relational approach to therapy, meaning I focus not only on the difficulties you're facing, but also on the resilience, insight, and abilities you already bring into the room. Together, we build on those strengths to foster growth, healing, and meaningful change. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection. I prioritize developing a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe to explore their experiences at their own pace. I meet you where you are at! As someone who is half Turkish, I also value cultural identity, background, and lived experiences as essential parts of the therapeutic process. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply seeking greater self-understanding, therapy can be a place to find that and I would be honored to support you in that.

I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Nurse Practitioner. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington and have over 15 years of nursing experience in various healthcare settings. I am particularly interested in, and trained for, working with clients who are struggling with or are in recovery from eating disorders. I have extensive experience working with adults (18 and older) who have co-occurring diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and trauma. I also find fulfillment in supporting people who are navigating life transitions: tackling the college experience, embarking on a new career, becoming a parent, empty-nesting, or encountering a less-expected transition such as grief or a relationship ending. It is common for people who have had an eating disorder or who are currently struggling with one, to find that transitions challenge their recovery process with increased stress. Counseling may be especially helpful during that time. The most important component of effective therapy is providing a therapeutic relationship built on warmth, empathy, genuineness, unconditional regard and trust. Using a “Health at Every Size” (HAES®) philosophy I draw from several different therapeutic techniques to tailor my approach to your unique needs. My primary goal is to help you understand how your presenting concerns developed and what is perpetuating them. I then support you in accepting or making changes that align with your values and goals. I offer a free initial phone call during which time you and I can explore together if I'm a good fit to help you reach your goals. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about therapy and help you feel ready to begin this process. You're welcome to send me an email with any questions you may have!
