Removing those barriers makes so much possible. I incorporate Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), mindfulness, realistic self-care, social justice and feminist theory, creative expression, creative coping strategies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), safety planning, and fat & body liberation work. Ultimately, how I approach our sessions will be tailored to you.
Hi! I’m Katharine. I’m a LCPC now offering video sessions for clients just like you. I help people-pleasers remove fear and dread from their choices so they can FINALLY become CONFIDENT and pursue their real dreams. I help them see that the barriers are passable, and most are self-created. The good news is, if the problems are self-created, you can finally start doing something about it. Your future is in your own hands and that’s empowering. I’ll encourage you to think about a top down approach to getting re-organized and Centered, figuring out what works and what is no longer working for you. We all have to retool our efforts, pivot and re-pivot over time if we hope to be continually successful. What worked for you when you when you were 20 is probably not working any more I’ll be in your corner while we figure out what new approaches would work best for you . I like to share outside resources from readings to videos to ideas from all over the web and from the best psychiatrists that have ever lived. So Think about What self-doubt might be costing you,,,,, and sign up to meet with me so we can free up your focus and energy to pursue the life you really want.
Welcome! My name is "Dr. Ed." I'm a Ph.D.-Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston and Governors State. In our multicultural world, therapy is a safe place to respect your values and honor your strengths! √ I'm 4.6 rated with 60+ reviews on HealthGrades, United Health, Aetna and Cigna. My treatment philosophy is built on respect and appreciation of the dignity for each person I work with. Let me emphasize this one more time, YOU don't have to settle for a poor self-image from negative experiences nor settle with poor relationships with your family, spouse, kids and yourself. Let's figure it out..together.. My therapy specialty is working with adults, couples, families, and pre-teens who are dealing with feelings of rejection, grief, and situation anxiousness-including balancing family and work-life stressors. I greatly appreciate listening to the adult male voice in relationships and families. Learning ways to bridge the gap in communication styles between men and women, parents and children, is important work! Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a core faculty member for nine years at Capella University-graduate and doctoral programs in Social Work and Public Service Leadership. Outside of work, Dr. Ed enjoys traveling to Barbados, Cancun, Houston Rodeo, is active in the KAY fraternity, and is an Astros and Cubs fan. The clients I work best with are: 🌱 Overwhelmed high-functioning perfectionists who like bad jokes. 🌱People who are done with dieting because they know it doesn't work even though they wish it did. 🌱Spiritual weirdos who like tarot, manifestations, energy work, and finding balance with the universe 🌱 People who care about everyone else, leaving themselves for last and wanting someone to call them out when it's not working 🌱 People who make jokes about or completely ignore their trauma in order to deal
You’re juggling a lot. Classes, work, friends, family, money, maybe figuring out who you are and what you actually want from life. And somewhere in the middle of all that, your mental health is supposed to “keep up.” My practice is here for that in-between space—when things aren’t exactly falling apart, but they’re definitely not okay. I work with college students who are dealing with anxiety, overthinking, burnout, relationship stress, grief, and big life transitions. Together, we slow things down, sort through the noise, and build practical tools you can actually use in real life. Sessions are judgment-free, conversational, and tailored to you—no pressure to be “put together” or say the perfect thing. You can come as you are: exhausted, unsure, overwhelmed, or just curious about therapy. If you’re ready to feel a little less stuck and a little more like yourself again, you’re in the right place.
My goal is to help clients who have trauma, specifically medical trauma, manage their symptoms and learn how to navigate life again! I am most interested in helping people connect to their mind and body again, so they truly feel like they are living in their bodies and being present. Therapy is a collaborative process, so there is a level of trust that must go into each client and each session. My areas of interest as a counselor are trauma-focused, veterans, medical trauma, depression/anxiety, substance use, and sexual assault survivors.
