At The Better You Institute, we work with students who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected, even when things seem fine on the outside. If you're a student who gets good grades, has a good relationship with their family, and a healthy social life but feels like things could be better or you could be doing more, our therapists are the right fit for you! Maybe you’re juggling academic pressures, relationships, family expectations, identity questions, or feelings of anxiety and burnout. You might feel like you’re doing “all the right things” but still feel lost, unsure, or like you’re falling short. That’s where we come in. We create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, reflect, and make sense of what’s really going on beneath the surface. Our therapists guide you in building healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and connecting so you can navigate life’s challenges with more clarity and confidence. Where you feel like you're in the driver seat, not everything else. We affirm and support all identities, including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, neurodiversety. If you’re ready for therapy that helps you feel more grounded, connected, and true to yourself, we’re here to walk alongside you. You don’t have to figure it out alone. We have the tools to help you make this chapter in your life work for you, not against you and get to the other side with confidence.

I received my M.S. In Counseling from Villanova University and pursued doctoral studies at Immaculata University. In 1994 I became a licensed psychologist and opened my own private practice in Wayne, PA. I have been an adjunct professor at Chestnut Hill College in their graduate psychology department. I completed advanced studies in Jungian psychology at the C. G. Jung Institute in Philadelphia. In 1997 I became a certified Imago Relationship therapist where my goal was to assist couples in having more conscious, loving and intimate relationships. Central to my work is a powerful self-discovery tool … the Enneagram in which I received training in 2001. I use it extensively with clients as well as outside groups where I give presentations and teach classes on the Enneagram including volunteer teaching of the Enneagram at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. In 2014 I received my certification in coaching through the Coaches Training Institute. I since have developed a coaching practice to complement the work I do in the therapeutic and counseling areas. In addition, I also give presentations and talks for married couples, parent associations, support groups, and health and wellness audiences.

My clients are dedicated athletes grappling with eating disorders or OCD, facing the dual challenges of their mental health and a desire to perform at their peak. They are often overwhelmed by the demands of their sport, which can blur the lines between passion and harmful habits. Their primary goal is to reclaim their lives and their love for their sport, seeking not just recovery, but transformation—an opportunity to realign their beliefs and values towards a healthier, more balanced existence. They crave empowerment, resilience, and the ability to thrive both in their athletic pursuits and personal lives.
I'm Sandi Christiansen (she/her/hers), a Licensed Professional Counselor through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I obtained my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology at Saint Joseph's University, and my Master's in Clinical & Counseling Psychology at Chestnut Hill College with a specialization in Child & Adolescent Counseling. I have been licensed since 2010, and have been working in the field of mental health and substance use disorders for almost 15 years. I recognize the vulnerability and strength it takes to decide to start going to therapy and begin making changes. Whether you're a college student struggling with friendships, a young adult managing life and its stressors, a parent of a child experiencing anxiety...it's hard to know where to start. I'm here to help you navigate! I utilize strength-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with elements of a psychodynamic approach (touching on attachment, relationship, and behavior patterns through the lens of object relations theory). I maintain unconditional positive regard for my clients, and offer what I hope will become a safe space for people to talk about difficult things. Together, we will set achievable, measurable goals for your future as well as gaining a better understanding of your past. I pride myself on my professionalism and experience, but most importantly I have been told over and over again that I am relatable, approachable, and non-judgmental. I tell my clients all the time -- I am the expert in the field, but you are the expert on your own life. If any of this resonates with you, we might be a good fit to work together. Please feel comfortable reaching out to set up a complimentary 15 minute consultation. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you find your next step.

WARNING: HIGHLY INTERACTIVE THERAPIST! I work with clients 13+ from a wide range of genders and backgrounds. Most of my clients are dealing with some combination of anxiety, depression, relationship stress, or questions about sexuality and gender. Many are coming out of their first big break up or first major loss. I have a particular focus in “men’s” issues, relationships and couples work, and on addressing topics we were never taught to explore — namely sexuality and grief. Some of my clients are deeply religious others are atheists. Some have never dated others are active BDSMers. My style is highly interactive. We’ll work to address faulty beliefs and longstanding BS. Together, we can talk about anything from anxiety to compulsive porn use, from kink to grief. I have a particular focus in “men’s” issues, couples counseling, and grief. I won’t promise you’ll “find happiness.” That would be like trying to sell you keys to your own car. All I promise is to be your teammate. If what you seek is a combination of empathy and strength, a nonjudgmental space, an emphasis on connection over analysis, and a confidant who will not waver then I invite you to book a consultation below.
I'm so proud of you. Navigating the work stressors and life transitions on a daily basis. Also, you worry what others may be thinking about your ability to show up and push through. After all, you’re the “strong one”. It can be exhausting. My goal is to journey with you to learn the skills to break the patterns that keep you stuck. You don’t have to face your stressors alone.

I will help you build the skills necessary to create sustainable change and unlock your incredible potential. * I work well with college students who are also athletes, as I once competed at the collegiate level. This allows me to opportunity to relate to a lot of the stressors college athletes might experience*
