Hello, I’m a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of adults in New York. I believe in a holistic, non-judgmental approach where you have the space and freedom to share your thoughts without constraint. I specialize in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, life transitions, relationship issues and trauma with a unique experience in treating those with cross-cultural issues. With over a decade of experience working in multiple clinical settings in NYC with a variety of cultures and ethnic groups, I recognize the importance of understanding each individuals’ unique circumstances to provide socially and culturally competent care. While my practice focuses on evidence based medication management, my approach integrates therapy with lifestyle interventions. I’m a firm believer in tailoring treatment plans so that they are realistic and achievable to provide sustained recovery to live a more fulfilling life.

Hey there! Are you looking for a fresh perspective, a safe space to process your experiences (past and present), and someone to offer suggestions on how to change up patterns that are no longer serving you? I can help! I'm here to be your partner as we work together to develop a better understanding of your authentic self and create positive change in your life. I love working with clients on topics like anxiety, life transitions, relationships and self-esteem, and I also have experience supporting clients with depression, substance abuse/addiction recovery, and challenging family dynamics. My approach is rooted in person-centered therapy and I also utilize a lot of techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, but I'll often pull from a variety of evidence-based modalities to best fit your specific needs and goals. Does it sound like you and I could be a good fit? Send me an email and we can chat more about setting up an intake session. I look forward to connecting with you!

I work with all that are misunderstood. While my specialty is working with autistics and ADHD, due to misdiagnoses in females, adopted youth, LGTBQIA2S+, and BIPOC, I welcome all so that we can discover an affirmative proper assessment for answers and treatment. I specialize in helping children learn practical methods for managing difficult emotions and difficult situations at school as well as adults in the workplace. I help parents learn research-based parenting that is emotionally safe and improves crisis stabilization at home and school, including throughout the circle of life. I include parents in the process of discovering techniques that actually help children, including improving family function and relationships. In addition, I also support active duty and retired veterans and their families, as well as civilian contractors with PTSD and the difficulties navigating a military lifestyle, as well as transitioning back into a civilian lifestyle. In addition, I also specialize in substance use treatment and parent/family support counseling. I also provide support for those that participate with NY’s self-direction and provide complimentary billing to the participant’s FI without the hassle of self-pay.

Jung said “We don’t get wounded alone and we don’t heal alone.” Meaning everything that is hurt within a relationship must be healed within one. As a therapist, I believe in deep relational work, whether that is in an individual setting or with a parent-child dyad/triad. I am not about “quick fixes” and believe that the best results come with time and curiosity. I work with both adults as well as caretakers of children alongside their child. I worked a significant portion of my career in a state setting, which has informed my approach as being anti-behavioral, conscious of the impact of systems, and recognizing the importance of our upbringing in our future wellness.

We are experiencing challenging times. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are numerous and have created a long lasting crisis situation that is exacerbating depression, anxiety, feelings of fear and hopelessness, and triggering unhealthy regressive patterns and behaviors. It has placed stress on marriages, partnerships and families, and has left us feeling disconnected, frustrated and fearful. We are also experiencing a massive shift in our paradigm regarding race and ethnicity, which necessitates a different therapeutic consciousness that is more holistic, and that includes the issue of how racism and inequality affect mental health. As we navigate the “new normal,” it’s important to have a supportive space that can help define issues that are problematic so we can adjust accordingly to the harmful effects of the current crisis. In addition to treating mood disorders and trauma that affect daily functioning, as a relationship therapist, I believe the foundation of all relationships begins with the most important relationship of all – the one you have with yourself. Perhaps the life you have is different from the life you desire. If so, we will focus on core issues that might be preventing you from living that life. Some of the challenges you might be facing at this time include: Toxic/unhealthy dynamics in families of origin. A lack of strong role models. The search for a partner who more closely fulfills your needs. The decision of when/if to start a family. A career that means more than just a paycheck and allows you to live up to your full potential and desires. Unexpected health challenges. A nonconforming identity. We will not only address symptoms. We will examine the changes you want to make to live a more fulfilling life.
