I’m so glad you’re here. Therapy is a valuable way to support your growth and overall well-being. I will support you in sitting with your pain, anxiety, stress, and life’s inevitable changes. It’s natural to try to push down uncomfortable and unpleasant feelings, though they will find their way out - often in ways we can’t anticipate. In our work, we will make space for what’s hard, to build the courage to face your internal world; with curiosity and compassion.

The Eating Disorder Center of Montana (EDCMT) was founded in 2013 to meet a community and regional need for specialized treatment for food and body disorders. Eating disorders are serious and common mental illnesses, yet access to care is often limited. Our founders saw this gap in care in southwest Montana and began building EDCMT to meet the need AND to create the kind of healing, approachable environment that would truly give all patients the best chance at lifelong recovery. There is no one size fits all formula for treatment of mental illness because no two individuals will experience it in the exact same way. The foundation of all we do is to provide patient care that can support everyone’s unique journey. We blend traditional healing modalities–individual therapy, skills-based and process group therapy, and meal support–with holistic healing modalities–art, yoga and music therapies–in thoughtfully designed, safe spaces, under the expert and compassionate guidance of our team.

Therapy doesn’t require a “good reason” to start. Maybe you are overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, struggling in relationships, carrying trauma, or just feeling unlike yourself lately. Maybe you are the person who keeps functioning and getting things done while quietly holding a lot underneath. I offer a warm, down-to-earth, trauma-informed space where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have it all figured out. I believe healing happens through safe and supportive relationships, and therapy should feel collaborative and genuine. I work especially well with students and adults navigating trauma, identity-based harm, relationship difficulties, anxiety, burnout, self-esteem issues, and life transitions.

I work primarily with students hoping to address issues that might be impacting their day-to-day functioning, performance, and/or life satisfaction. For some this is related to substance use, anxiety or depression around recent change, or the lingering effects of negative experiences in the past. I am trained in EMDR, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing, but use other approaches as appropriate.

Having a safe and supportive place to explore one's story can lead to wellness, healing and growth. I practice from a holistic, integrated approach regarding mental health and/or substance use issues, understanding that increasing mental health and healing also can help clients manage triggers and cravings to use alcohol and/or drugs that have led to problems or have complicated their lives. I also understand that each individual is unique, and it is crucial as a therapist to use flexibility, understanding and active listening to work together on treatment goals that will work best for each client. I incorporate Strength-Based approaches into my therapeutic work as well Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution-Focused approaches when appropriate to help individuals move towards growth and change. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address unresolved traumatic wounds in adults and adolescents. I began my counseling training in 2014 as an intern in addiction counseling and since graduating from the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master's Program at the University of Montana in 2015 I have been working from an integrated approach to mental health and addiction in individual and group counseling, including the Missoula DBT Collaborative program.

Have you ever wondered if there was a way to feel more grounded, less overwhelmed, and more connected to the world around you? Trauma has a way of causing us to believe that we are less than who we are--less good, less lovable, and less safe. Trauma can cause us to disconnect from our own lives, the people we love, and our sense of spiritual belonging, causing us to feel adrift, anxious, and unsettled. I specialize in trauma informed counseling and have seen amazing changes when people prioritize their healing and growth. With the world changing every day there is no better time than right now to build resilience and heal. I am trained in EMDR, hypnotherapy, and other trauma focused therapies, and specialize in issues related to abuse, neglect and trauma. Everyone deserves to have someone on their side and there is no situation too big or too complicated that therapy can't help with. If you want to feel better, therapy can help! If you are looking for someone to talk to who will listen without judgment or criticism and who will help you heal and grow, please visit me at www.bluebirdpsychotherapy.com for more information about me and my practice!

Hello! I am a depth-oriented psychotherapist, which means in our work together we will explore more than just your current thoughts. We will dig deeper and bring forth repressed content and parts of the self that have been rejected or ignored. This treatment is best for clients with anxiety, trauma, and/or depression. Interventions I commonly use include active imagination, dream work, and amplifying symptoms. I also have training in OCD and anxiety, and absolutely love seeing clients move from a life trapped in perfectionism and rigidity, and on to a path towards living the life they've always wanted.
