I’ve been part of the Harvard Medical School system for over a decade, first as a trainee, now as faculty member. I'm trained primarily in psychodynamic therapy, but principles/interventions from other paradigms also inform my work, and I love working with students. Ultimately, the nature of therapy depends on the patient, what they are up against, and their goals. For this reason, the course of therapy is difficult to describe, but I think it only ever works in a context of empathy, respect, and compassion, not to mention humor (sometimes life can only be laughed at). This is a perspective I lay out in some detail in a recently published, two-volume book, titled, "A Humane Vision of Clinical Psychology." Generally speaking, I would be a good fit for someone looking to understand and change established patterns, and to find relief from associated symptoms. Currently, I am contracted with the student insurances at Tufts and BC, which make sessions very inexpensive for students.

College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Whether you’re feeling stressed, anxious, lonely, or unsure of yourself, you deserve support. I specialize in providing high-quality, short-term therapy to decrease anxiety. I’ll teach you how you can start using proven strategies to take back control of your thoughts, confidence, and peace. I also have 10 years of experience supporting neurodivergent clients and have a deep appreciation for the way sensory needs, communication styles, and social energy impact daily life on campus. I have expertise in tailoring evidence-based interventions for autistic individuals. In addition to my private practice, I supervise psychology doctoral students and lead a research program to improve mental health treatment for autistic and anxious clients. It’s so important to find a therapist you connect with, who offers support that actually helps. If you’re interested in working together, please reach out to schedule a free consultation.

I am a psychologist working at CampusCare Counseling, a group practice serving only college students. I am highly experienced in addressing mental health needs of undergraduate and graduate students. My therapeutic work takes a largely integrative approach including, but not limited to, the use of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, exposure and response prevention, and acceptance and commitment therapeutic interventions. I work through a humanistic and client-centered lens, drawing from many concepts of internal family systems therapy. I believe that at our core, we are all inherently “good,” but our unique life experiences can lead us to adopt beliefs, behaviors, and coping strategies that may be healthy at times, or harmful at others. For this reason, I believe it is essential to explore the relationships and events that shaped distressing thoughts or unwanted behaviors to facilitate meaningful change. I hold unconditional positive regard for my clients, utilizing a trauma-informed approach to help college students gain a deeper understanding of themselves and a genuine appreciation for all the parts that make them who they are. It is my belief that with self-insight and self-love present, transformation, healing, and relief are always within reach.

They may also be working through identity exploration, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, anxiety, or struggling with managing the constant heaviness of the world. My clients tend to be insight-oriented and motivated to engage in the therapeutic process. My style is warm, non-judgmental, patient, and highly attentive to issues of social justice. I practice with sex-positive, body-positive lenses and actively work to incorporate values of decolonization and anti-racism. Although the road to wellness is not linear, there is hope, and change is possible. Depression and anxiety, worry, stress, and feeling overwhelmed- these are all familiar concerns and normal in the human experience. We've all experienced it. Sometimes they can be difficult to manage and that's when talk therapy can be incredibly useful. But most important: I'm glad you're here. Let's build a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Life is hard. Although I am not a specialist in Life itself, there are ways to balance and recalibrate ourselves with therapy tools. These tools have helped me and others I've served in the past. As an Asian American, LGBTQ+ identifying therapist, my experience may offer a unique perspective that helps you feel connected and heard. I offer a straightforward style with authenticity and real connection. Although this may be intimidating for clients who are new to therapy, it is a bridge that when crossed clients find satisfying and rewarding. The first step to reaching out and connecting is by call or email, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Effective therapy creates meaningful, lasting, joyful change. As your therapist I can help you resolve the inner and outer conflicts that create pain and exhaustion. Life brings unchosen experiences. Sometimes we feel hurt, scared, or deeply alone. Sometimes what happens seems too big to manage. For 25+ years I have had the privilege of helping people learn to live as their "best self," able to manage their moods, thoughts and situations with compassion and skill, to make changes to reach their goals, and to find happiness. I lived and worked in Africa for 6 years, and have helped people from many cultures find their joy. My specialty is helping people understand their unique "recipe" of biology, upbringing, relationships, and current situations, and how they might work with their "ingredients" to create immediate and long-lasting positive change. My approach is practical. I integrate psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies, internal and strategic family systems, EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches, and mindfulness-based stress management. Depression, anxiety, loneliness, frustration, pulls towards behaviors that lead to pain...whatever is interfering with your well-being is worth changing. Together we can produce change. Please EMAIL
