Hello and Welcome! Whether you're new to mental health care or have tried it out already, making the decision to seek care is an important investment in your overall wellbeing. In my private practice, I care for concerns that are common among people in university settings, including anxiety, depression, stress, sleep, and self esteem. I provide both medication management and psychotherapy services. In psychotherapy, I also work with people on all kinds of issues that may not have a specific diagnosis to go with them, but which still can have a big impact on wellbeing, like navigating life transitions, relationships, family, setting goals, and managing the stress of the world and of being a student or university employee! My practice strives to be open and welcoming for people of all backgrounds and lived experiences. Sometimes the ways we learned to survive are the very things now keeping us stuck. If you’ve found yourself overthinking, constantly on edge, emotionally shut down, stuck in painful relationship patterns, or feeling like you’re carrying experiences your body never fully got to process, you are not alone! Therapy to me is not about judgment, fixing you, or forcing quick answers. It is about creating a space where you feel genuinely seen, safe, and understood while we begin making sense of what your mind and body have been holding. I offer trauma-informed, relational therapy grounded in evidence-based practice & deep compassion. Integrating ACT, IFS, and somatic approaches, I help adolescents and adults navigate complex trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, women's issues, identity exploration, and family transitions, including divorce and high conflict dynamics. As an MSW clinician with a background in psychology, criminal justice, trauma-informed advocacy, and mental health research, I bring clinical training and genuine humanity to my work. Healing isn't about becoming someone different. It's about understanding yourself with more clarity, compassion, and safety so you can live with greater freedom and connection!

Hey Hey Hey! I’m Lenora Benson (She/Her/Hers), LICSW and I support black and ethnic minority women, in navigating the challenges and expectations imposed on them by the fallacy of the strong black women. I support all women in navigating the social expectations, stressors, and demands of being woman, as they intersect in all areas of racism, sexism, and patriarchism. I believe in the transformative power of therapy, because it has transformed me personally. As your therapist, I provide a safe, supportive, and judgement free space for you to explore your emotions, heal from past wounds, and journey from darkness to the light. My goals are to help those struggling with low self-esteem, people pleasing tendencies, and high-achieving perfectionism, dismantle the beliefs that keeps them stuck in patterns of behavior that leave them feeling like imposters; never good enough, never smart enough. Working with me will allow you to begin to make decisions for yourself that leave you feeling loved, worthy, and empowered.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for anxiety, OCD-related concerns, phobias, and sleep difficulties Over the past several years, I have noticed that many college students struggle academically due to undiagnosed ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and attention-related concerns that may go overlooked. In response to this need, I have added comprehensive and affordable ADHD diagnostic testing to my practice to help students better understand their difficulties, access appropriate treatment recommendations, and obtain accommodations when clinically indicated for academic settings and standardized testing. In addition to ADHD testing, I frequently work with students experiencing anxiety, obsessive thinking, perfectionism, panic, OCD symptoms, sleep disruption, and stress related to academic performance and life transitions.

I see clients as lifelong learners and the experts in their lives. I work from a narrative perspective to help people see how the stories of their lives impact them in ways they may not always be aware of. Sometimes problems have a way of getting so big that people feel their problems are their identity. I will work with you to challenge that idea, and get space from what is bothering you. I help clients explore what they’ve heard about how people are “supposed to be.” I work to help clients figure out where these stories come from, and how these ideas affect them. I work collaboratively to help clients determine how these dominant stories intersect with their own hopes and preferences, so that clients can actively re-create their stories in ways that better fit their values.

Welcome! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and psychotherapist. One of my areas of emphasis is counseling undergraduate and graduate students who are navigating the complexities of college life and balancing the demands that often accompany this time. It is common for these years to bring discovery and connection as well as stress, pressure and anxiety. In collaboration, we can work through what is challenging or making you feel stuck or avoidant. We can address mental health concerns that may be disrupting your path. We will look at your day-to-day functioning as well as the bigger picture of your life. I will support you in taking meaningful steps towards your goals. I have extensive specialized experience treating OCD, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, and BFRBs. While in training, I also completed an internship at a college counseling center where I had the wonderful opportunity to counsel students entering healthcare professions. It can be helpful for potential clients to know ahead of time that I am "in- network" with Boston University Aetna Student Health specifically. If you have this insurance, your visits are covered and you are only responsible for your copay. In all other cases, I am "out-of network." I am happy to offer a superbill invoice you can submit to your insurance for partial or full reimbursement, if you have out-of-network benefits and are eligible for reimbursement. If you aren't sure whether you do, you can call the phone number on your insurance card to ask. I am licensed in MA and CT. I look forward to getting to know you!
