Do you find yourself overcome with anxiety, stress, or intrusive thoughts? You may feel stuck in your own head, think negative "what-if" thoughts, or replay social situations in your mind, critiquing what you said and overanalyzing how everyone else responded. Are you ready to make a change? If so, allow me to guide you in shifting your mind from being your arch enemy to your powerful ally. My clients and I work together as a team. We will talk about the negative thinking patterns affecting you the most, and strategies to change them so that you can breathe a sigh of relief as you feel their grip on you loosen. My clients learn new ways of approaching their thoughts, and techniques to calm their minds for immediate and long-term relief. Practicing these tools in-between our sessions ensures that you are developing new healthy habits to support lasting change. I use strategies based on scientific research so you can get the results you are looking for. If you are tired of feeling stuck and are ready to take that first step toward feeling better, call or email me today. Change starts from within, and I am here to guide you in that process.

Founded in 2017, Depth Counseling is a group psychotherapy practice, offering long-term, psychoanalytic psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families. We work in person and by telehealth, with locations in Chicago, Illinois in the Chicago Loop and Ravenswood. In 2026 we began offering telehealth to clients across the state of Massachusetts. Our primary goal is to help our clients get beneath their presenting symptoms to identify the blocks that hold them back from living their fullest and most rewarding lives. We believe in the transformative power of this work and in the potential for growth at any stage of life. Our mission is to make high-quality, long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy accessible, welcoming, and relatable to the people in our greater community, regardless of any client’s race, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or income level.
Are you stuck? Overwhelmed? Unsure of who you are and what you want? My style is compassionate, intuitive and direct. I offer an empowered approach to healing. I empower you to become a conscious co-creator of your life. I use my own life experiences to assist you in shedding shame and getting unstuck. I use tools, education and workshops to empower and enlighten you. I view symptoms as a sign one is out of alignment with their truth, rather than as a symptom to be treated. When we were not mirrored properly as children, we get stuck settling for less than we deserve in our life, work + relationships as adults. Emotional neglect erodes self-trust and lowers self-worth. I help you clear the lens you see yourself through.
I create a warm environment and empower my clients to take back control of their lives. I encourage an active therapy experience where clients learn skills, set weekly goals, and complete homework to build a sense of independence and self-confidence. Whether you're struggling with your self-esteem, anxious thoughts, work stress, relationships, general motivation or more, I can help! My style is a blend of the following treatment approaches: CBT, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Holistic Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy and Trauma-Informed Therapy. I am always seeking out trainings, books, and podcasts to inform these approaches and provide up-to-date psychoeducation and resources. I look forward to helping you explore and overcome your struggles with compassion, good humor, and evidenced based techniques. I won't be the type of therapist who just sits backs and nods. I want to help you with active problem solving and building skills. It may be helpful to know that I am a married mom of a 4 year old boy and dog mom of 8 year old doodle. I am a real person navigating life's ups and downs just like you and I'm happy to share parts of my personal life (mistakes and all) if I feel that it helps enhance the therapy process. I have a proven record of success and would be honored to be chosen for your therapy journey. I look forward to connecting soon.
Do you ever find yourself thinking “How did I get here, and how do I escape this doom loop?" If you see a pattern of feeling overwhelmed, unseen, or misunderstood, you’re not alone. Maybe you’ve forgotten what it feels like to not be exhausted or in survival mode? Healing and peace are within reach, and I can help you find them. Patients say I’ve empowered them to see themselves in a new light, uncovering their strengths and potential. "Hope" might feel like a scary investment, but it’s one that promises lifetime returns when you commit to the journey. Take the first step and reach out; together, we’ll do the rest.
We provide solution-focused, strength-based therapy with a critical focus on current and future growth and development. We use an individualized approach based on a range of treatment modalities along with valuable skill building. Hi! My name is Katie Kalina, a licensed independent clinician with over 6 years of experience. I believe that everyone deserves to be heard and healed, and that as your therapist, it's my job to meet you exactly where you're at. One of my specialties is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Eye movement (or other bilateral stimulation) is used to work on one memory at a time for the mind to heal. I have worked with individuals and groups of all ages, from children to teens and adults through anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, body image issues, relationship issues, and anger management. As your therapist, I will make it my mission to make you feel at home in our sessions. Once we meet, I will help you set goals and devise a plan that will make you transform in the ways that you wish to. Looking forward to completing this journey with you and bringing you ongoing success. I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Manhattan. After finishing a Masters of Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania, I completed a four year post-graduate program at the William Alanson White Institute, a psychoanalytic institute in New York City. In my practice, I work with people who are experiencing a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties. I also work with individuals who are interested in improving their understanding of themselves or an aspect of their lives, or who want to be better able to make choices that lead to a sense of fulfillment. My goal is to provide a warm and collaborative relationship in which these topics can be explored. I believe that a successful therapeutic relationship is based on trust and can help bring about growth and change. I offer clinical supervision to psychotherapists in private practice and as part of the William Alanson White Institute's Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program. I am also an Associate Editor for the academic journal Contemporary Psychoanalysis.
