Therapists for college students near 02138
Hi! My name is Rachel Hammond, LPC, LMHC, ATR. I am a licensed counselor and registered art therapist currently serving women virtually in Massachusetts and Louisiana. The journey looks different for everyone and, with that in mind, I tailor my work to include a variety of modalities. I integrate mindfulness practice, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) approaches into sessions, incorporating the whole self as a means to heal. Progress isn’t always linear; however, I do believe we all inherently have within us the ability to heal and grow. I take great care in helping women overcome anxiety and self-doubt, serving as a guide for my clients to dig deeper and explore strategies to lead aligned, fulfilling lives.
I am a licensed mental health counselor focusing on evidence-based interventions, specifically, cognitive behavioral therapy and child and family therapy. My area of specialty include working with individuals who experience anxiety, depression, self esteem, gender issues, college and life transitions, and complex trauma including self harm and suicidal ideation, supporting stressful life circumstances and creating healthy boundaries. Productive treatment thrives in a healthy, calming and therapeutic environment. Optimal therapy continues to thrive when a sincere assessment of the unique needs of clients and families complement method of treatment. I look forward to hearing from you and working together to regain a sense of hope, worth and stability
I enjoy helping people work on achieving a balance between self acceptance and striving to incorporate positive changes into their lives. I provide individual therapy for adults and adolescents who are feeling overwhelmed with life, looking to develop more effective coping skills or trying to change negative thought patterns. I enjoy working with college students and young adults who are dealing with interpersonal dynamics or changes in their life and need support and guidance during this time. I take an individualized approach to therapy based on your needs and preferences, however I often incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness based techniques into my work. I am dedicated to helping you navigate difficult life transitions and feel better about yourself and your relationships. I offer a collaborative, safe and supportive therapeutic environment where you can feel heard and receive meaningful feedback. I can be reached by email or phone. I look forward to hearing from you!
My Approach & Values Hope and the belief that it’s possible to recover are the foundation of the work I do. You deserve and can expect a full recovery. Keep in mind that medications are not the only modality available to treat mental illness. Many don’t experience full remission of symptoms with the available psychopharmacological treatment alone. However, there is empirical data that shows the efficacy of augmenting medication with psychotherapy and lifestyle changes. Simple changes aid individuals in regaining a meaningful life, even when recovery stalls. The goal is to gain control of your life back with emphasis on managing symptoms and building resilience. Some thoughts to keep in mind include the questions listed below. - How can we move forward? - What new goals could be set? - How can we get your new life back on track? - Can we work together to develop your support system? - What skills can you learn to cope with periods of crisis?
Do you struggle with relationship issues, substance misuse, or navigating college and life transitions? Do you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward? You need a compassionate space to express your feelings, understand the roots of your behaviors, and heal emotional wounds. Your goals may include improving self-esteem, building confidence, and overcoming the challenges that you face. Ultimately, you want to feel heard, empowered, and more in control of your life, fostering healthier relationships and emotional balance.
My particular areas of interests include (but are not limited to): depression/anxiety, life transitions, college mental health, LGBTQIA+ issues, emotion regulation, and family work. I have significant experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community, working with children on the autism spectrum, and children/family work. I also have extensive training in risk assessments, individual, group, and family therapy. I approach each person/group as unique and will tailor my techniques/practices appropriately. My graduate work was with a concentration on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I also utilize techniques such as mindfulness, motivational interviewing, strength-based therapy, coping skill training, etc.
