Katelyn is a caring, down-to-earth therapist who specializes in helping college students navigate the ups and downs of this unique stage of life. She understands that college isn’t just about academics—it’s about finding yourself, managing independence, and handling the pressures that come with big life transitions. She knows that reaching out for help can be intimidating, so she works hard to make the process comfortable and stress-free. Sessions with Katelyn feel like a conversation with someone who truly “gets” you—no pressure, no judgment, just support. She’s especially passionate about helping students: Manage stress and anxiety around academics, performance, or the future Navigate changes in friendships, dating, and family dynamics Build confidence and self-esteem Cope with homesickness or culture shock Find balance between school, work, and personal life Katelyn believes mental health care should feel empowering—not like another item on your to-do list. She’ll help you discover your strengths, break down overwhelming challenges into manageable steps, and remind you that you don’t have to figure it all out alone. If you’ve been thinking, “I should probably talk to someone,” this is your sign. Whether you need a few sessions to get back on track or ongoing support to help you through a tough season, Katelyn is here to walk alongside you. Reaching out is the first step—and it’s a strong one. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start therapy. You just need to take that first step toward feeling better. You belong here. Your story matters. And Katelyn Murphy is ready to help you write the next chapter.

All humans experience pain and stress in life along with the propensity to become entangled in distressing thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations when challenges arise. This often leads to perceptions, interactions, behavior, and decision that add further distress to both the mind and body. I attempt to facilitate increased mindfulness with individuals through improved insight, awareness, compassion, non-judgment, and decreased entanglement in the distressing internal dialogue. I incorporate various theoretical perspectives including mindfulness, person-centered, cognitive, and cognitive-behavioral as I guide individuals toward increased inner peace. The following provides a glimpse into my style of therapy: “I beg you…to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer…” – Rainer Maria Rilke

You feel anxious and it’s hard to shut your brain off. People tell you to relax, but it’s not that easy for you. You’ve worked hard to get where you are, but it’s hard to sit back and enjoy it. Your standards for yourself feel too high, and you question how long you can keep this up. You tend to doubt yourself and your abilities and look to other people to reassure you. It’s hard to take up space, feel confident, and speak your truth. You want to feel present in your life and like you’re able to love and appreciate yourself just as you are. You want to feel confident, courageous, and like you are able to advocate for yourself. You want to feel happy, calm, and at peace with your life, your relationships, and your career. I specialize in working with young adults with anxiety, people-pleasing tendencies, imposter syndrome, and perfectionism to build self-confidence and live a life they love. A better future is possible, and I'm here to help you create it. I can’t wait to hear from you, send me an email or call me to schedule a free phone consultation.
