I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, veteran, and former ER nurse and healthcare administrator dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized mental health care. My background in emergency medicine taught me how to support people through some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments of their lives. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I value creating a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where patients feel safe being themselves. I take a collaborative and down-to-earth approach to treatment, with a focus on helping patients feel understood, empowered, and supported in building meaningful, lasting change. My path into psychiatry was shaped by both my professional and personal experiences. Working as an ER nurse, I saw firsthand how deeply mental health affects every aspect of a person’s life and how often people were struggling silently long before reaching a crisis point. Those experiences inspired me to pursue a role where I could build longer-term relationships with patients and focus not only on stabilization, but on healing, growth, and overall quality of life. As a veteran and member of the LGBTQ+ community, I also understand the importance of feeling seen, heard, and supported, which continues to influence the kind of care and environment I strive to provide for my patients. I take a collaborative, patient-centered approach to treatment and believe the best care comes from truly understanding each person’s unique experiences, goals, and challenges. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable being open and honest. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, surfing, and endurance training. Staying active and spending time outdoors are important parts of how I maintain balance and mental wellness, and I enjoy connecting with patients over the importance of finding healthy outlets and activities that bring meaning and fulfillment outside of work and daily stressors.

This is reflected in my work as a clinician, researcher, and community service member. Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to be here. I know that struggling with anxiety is exhausting. You're awake at night and your body can't relax. You feel exhausted and tired on a regular basis. On the outside you seem successful, but on the inside you want to scream from all the pressure and feel stuck. Your relationships are also not where you want it to be - feeling disconnected, struggling with the same issues, and the thought that something’s missing. You want things to change, but don't know how to get there.

I am currently completing my Ph.D. coursework at California Institute for Integral Studies in the Transformative Studies Department. My research interests include the phenomenological and hermeneutic dimensions of embodiment. I am an avid advocate for displacing human exceptionalism to elevate and advance our ethical responsibility towards the more-than-human co-experients that we share the Earth with.

Welcome, and congratulations on taking the first step toward seeking therapy—which can be intimidating for many people. I understand that discussing sensitive topics with a stranger can feel daunting, so I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and culturally responsive space that cultivates trust and allows clients to share their deepest vulnerabilities without fear of judgment or ridicule. If you're dealing with academic stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, identity development, relationship issues, or the uncertainty that can come with transitioning from academia to the professional world, I can relate. I, too, have experienced many of these challenges during my college years. These are common and shared experiences for many young adults. In therapy, we'll work together as a team to clarify your values and vision, explore areas where you may feel stuck, and discover alternative ways to navigate barriers that may be hindering your progress. Using evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)-informed therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), you will learn practical tools to manage life's stressors more effectively. As we progress, I'm confident that you'll gain greater clarity about who you are, how you aspire to be, and how to pursue a path that aligns with your values and goals. As Winston Churchill famously said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."
